  1. Lookie here boys, WHERE THE WHITE WOMEN AT?
  2. I was going to reply about where the Republican party went wrong. But I know it won't be well received coming from me. Besides, this guy says it better. Maybe it will jog some memories about what the Republican party used to represent.
  3. I'm afraid not. They've been analyzing the results and Obama increased support for the Democratic ticket in EVERY demographic except the over 65 crowd.
  4. I was just checking the news and saw the headline "Obama to begin intelligence briefings". I had to click on it to see if he was giving them or receiving them
  5. See, "recent history". Obama has been very successful at setting high goals, plotting out a strategy, and then achieving those goals (with the exception of his loss to Bobby Rush). The guy is the poster child for the very type of leadership, work ethic and achievement that most people from the right wing, and certainly here in SC, are constantly crying out for. And this was done without the benefit of any sort of legacy program. His campaign was run almost flawlessly. He has tremendous appeal and respect in the global community. He's a quick learner. He's well spoken. He's smart. These are all attributes that we used to expect of our leaders. He's got 'em, and I'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt that he'll do the best job possible. Maybe I'm wrong and history will tell, but even though he's inheriting a huge mess, he's got the ability to be a great President. I expect he will be.
  6. We had some problems here in VA. In Chesapeake there was a precinct that reported a 6-7 hour wait. Some of it was equipment related, some because of wet ballots getting stuck in optical scanners. I'm still in awe that we're dealing with these issues in 2008.
  7. I was thinking of trying to call in to Hannity's show today to ask if he thinks that the Dems should use their "mandate" to implement the "nuclear option" on the filibuster, or exclude the R's from committee meetings etc. Do you think I'll get through?
  8. Nah. The bar was lowered to "dude you want at a kegger" a couple of election cycles back. We're raising the bar these days. It's refreshing.
  9. Quote..... and Twin Otters Quote No mere mortals gave us the Twin Otter. That was clearly a gift from God.
  10. Would somebody get that?! It seems that the record's stuck.....the record's stuck....the record's stuck....the record's stuck....the record's stuck....the record's stuck....the record's stuck....the record's stuck....the record's stuck....the record's stuck....the record's stuck....the record's stuck....the record's stuck....the record's stuck....the record's stuck....
  11. Good for you for studying hard in school and not paying attention to politics. But in case you're wondering, the rug's been gone for quite a few years now. You should be happy today. The theocratic party of nation building, massive deficit spending, government fattening, torturing, and war mongering is on its way out.
  12. You mean I can't use "honkey-American" any more?
  13. Yep. Which is one of the reasons why I voted for the Republican candidate for my congressional district. I was tempted to do the same thing for our Senate race, but the Republican candidate in this former red state is such a dickhead that even his own party doesn't care for him. I think they chose him simply for name recognition. He lost 2-1.
  14. After President #43 and his Congress, even Adam Smith would have voted for Obama.
  15. I used to think I knew what they were about and I share a number of their beliefs. Then they nominated Barr and now I'm all confused again.
  16. You know, the sad thing is that you often get more thorough commentary from comedy shows these days. What we seem to get from the "real" news programs is typically more inciteful than insightful.
  17. There is a pestilence upon this land. Nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress at this period in history. Roger the Shrubber
  18. What about this. Seems like a reasonable enough solution (insert rimshot) and I can't imagine that it would be cost prohibitive. It's certainly a step in the right direction. If we can somehow justify $10 billion a month for other "pet projects" then I don't understand how we can't justify spending a fraction of that towards our energy needs.
  19. This model has been proven to have a flaw.
  20. Sorry to hear that you're giving up. Think about it some more. The polls won't close for hours. That said, I'm actually feeling pretty good about my vote. I'm hoping this is a turning point for our country. I like to think that having an influx of younger voters, those who are more technologically savvy, will combine with the information age and help eventually crush old school politics. We need more daylight in our government and they're the ones to do it. I also think that my chosen candidate can provide some positive influence both domestically and globally. What can I say? I'm feeling optimistic today.
  21. Yep! Took less than 10 minutes.
  22. can you shed some light on that? what's the hurdle or hurdles that need to be overcome? They're working on it in France. http://www.iter.org/ IMO we should throw more of our efforts at the technology. It would solve many of our energy issues as well as many associated with national security.
  23. Screw you dude! (just kidding) Thanks for the positive vibes. They're well received here and I wish you well tomorrow and after. As a side note, I'm really interested to see what the total voter turnout percentage is. I think that if we top 60%, which I think is a given, then that will show that we are heading in the right direction.
  24. And addendum to my earlier post: I think one of the first things that Obama and Congress would do would be to continue the alternative energy tax credits that are set to expire. There are quite a few projects that are waiting for that to happen.
  25. The latter, which is why I'm going to cast my vote for Obama into an electronic netherworld tomorrow. I hope it counts.
