so do you guys think that when im (and anyone else in my experience level) is freeflying with someone new of the same level its worth mentioning? i.e. sitting in the plane just saying something. corking seems pretty easy to avoid (correct me if im wrong) if you reallise the danger, but i guess not everyone does. anytime i fall on my belly i go straight into a ball, flip and go into sit. my biggest fear with corking is from someone i dont know not really knowing the dangers on corking (in my limited experienced already jumped with some nutters that made me think i was in deep shit) "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

ha! i guess so. but seeing as how a few of my friends mum's died when we were pretty young (right around the time that saying became popular) i try to be careful with that one as you never know. "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading." -

can't deny that. so your saying your mum isnt? i guess if your mum is getting plugged all the time working the streets then its no longer a hole right? i feel sorry for you. (thats the best reply i could come up with) not an attack, just had to think of some kind of reply. "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading." -

without using a dictionary. just another random thought in the life of caspar. what is the definition of a hole? (now think of say a hole you can see through, like in a piece of paper; and then digging a hole which has a bottom to it. they are very different things) anyway, my friends couldnt give me an answer and i still havent looked up the definition in the dictionary. any takers? i was just wondering, we all know corking is really bad news in the freeflying world, ive never done it or seen it in freefall but do any of you have any experiences or stories to do with this? i guess, what i mean is, what are the worst injuries youve caused, been given or seen because of it (or any scary close calls?!) £38,000 not enough to live on?! seriously? yeah london is expensive but thats still a nice wage. i know lots of people who live off less than £20k (admittedly all are under 25 and not paying for mortgages) and live in london. if its not a long term move, say rent for £500 a month in a decent sort of place. Travel card for central london is around a fiver a day. a pint of beer in a pub will be around the £3 region. cant really think of any easy examples of the cost of living. BigMac Meal is about £3.90 i might have my numbers slightly wrong as im shattered. move to london, its wicked, for the amusement of seeing chavs if nothing else "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

i was about to download the free 90 day trial as i havent had a virus checker in ages etc etc but thought id have a quick read of the terms of use. would you download it after reading this: 7.4 Trial Period Offers. You may have received a limited time of free service or some other trial period offer. Unless we notify you otherwise, if you are participating in any trial period offer, you must cancel the service by the end of the trial period to avoid incurring charges. If you do not cancel your service, and we have informed you that the service will automatically be converted into a paid subscription at the end of the trial period, then you authorize us to charge your payment method for the service. does that mean that you definitely have to cancel the subscription after the free 90 days? What is the most popular color and size for a kill line pilotchute??
caspar replied to snivel1's topic in Gear and Rigging
i thought the size of the pilot chute is standard (or are there different sizes for F111 and ZP PC's?). "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading." -

thanks for the replies guys. i never really thought about the way a slider actually works until recently. honestly thought its main purpose was to slow air getting to the nose until i sat down and thought about it. "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

hi everyone, i am planning to eventually get into WS (still quite a while off). i was wondering, is there any reason why i cant deploy, WS style in a full track on every jump? i figure if i do it on every jump then its got to be great practice for when i do WS, probably going to try it out in about 100 jumps around september time. obviously, do practive pulls in a track first before going for it, i was just wondering if its a good or bad idea. cheers. "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

i was just wondering exactly how the slider works. because we all know what its meant to do and watch it working every jump, but im not sure on the exact specifics. am i right in thinking it: 1)reduces air getting into the nose 2)reduces air hitting the bottom of the canopy 3)stops the lines seperating at the top until speeds have decreased enough, then the canopy is allowed to fully open up. is that about right or does is it not do all those things? and now for a random thought, could you have a mesh covering on the nose instead of a slider? not saying its a good idea, just could you do it successfully? as my budget continues to get tighter, im running out of ideas on really cheap meals. i normally go with the classic beans on toast, costing about 40 pence a meal. what's your favorite classic super-cheap meal? "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

"Spectra linesets are way out of trim by 500 jumps (for 725 lb spectra; the smaller lines would go faster) and steering lines are done in half that (Spectra lines have shrunk, Vectran gets fuzzy). " so does that mean, replace your linesets every 500 jumps and your steering lines [break lines] every 250 jumps? ive checked my breaklines under canopy and they seem totally fine with just over 250 jump. thanks for the replies everyone "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

i was just wondering what the general guide is to canopy maintenance.... replacing lines at how many jumps and how many jumps to replace the brake lines. i reallise it is not an exact number, its just that im planning a 100 jump holiday to russia at the end of the summer and my main canopy (pilot) will have maybe 300 jumps on it by the time i go. wouldnt want to have to replace a lineset in the middle of the holiday! with hindsight, i should of asked my rigger how my lines were when i got it repacked i know... oh also, i have slinks on my main with maybe 70 jumps on them, i guess i dont need to worry about that? caspar replied to watchdog2's topic in The Bonfire
