  1. Yes. But you have to specify when you order with some manufacturers. For Great Deals on Gear
  2. Unfortunately, you are correct. It seems that the best candidates always lose in the primaries. For example, Bill Bradley and John McCain were eliminated in 2000, when either one would have arguably had broader appeal than either candidate that actually won their respective party's nomination.
  3. Sometimes 2 twists are easily eliminated, and sometimes they are not. The decision to cut away, or not, should not be based on the number of twists in the lines. If decision altitude is reached, and you have not gained control of the canopy, a cutaway is usually the best choice. It's easy to for others to second guess a cutaway decision after the fact. But, it is always the jumper's responsibility to make sure there is a controllable, landable canopy over your head prior to landing. For Great Deals on Gear

  6. Well, it does rain a LOT here in Florida!
  7. I remember reading in Science News a year or two ago about advances that would soon allow parafin to be used reliably as a rocket fuel.
  8. Where does that leave String Theory, which (AFIK) takes place on a scale so small that it is not observable or testable?
  9. I respectfully disagree, Bill. The two are related in the fact that they both seek to explain the unknown mysteries of life. Einstein once claimed to simply be seeking "the mind of God." Science is not without its own assumptions either. Don't we presently just faithfully accept that the Strong, Weak, Electromagnetic and Gravitational forces can in fact be unified? Where would the Big-Bang theory be without that assumption? Don't get me wrong, I fully expect the fundamental forces will eventually be unified, and I am aware that there is other evidence in support of the Big Bang. According to some, the conclusions that have been reached by many of the world's religions, such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism and Kabbalah. Similarities with the first three are highlighted in Fritjof Capra's book The Tao of Physics. One of the interesting things he talks about is how many mystical "experiments" achieve reproducable results. The ability to reproduce results is the cornerstone of science.
  10. According to Article 1, Section 4, Clause 2 of the Constitution, Congress is only required to assemble one day per year.
  11. The best way I have found is using a pull-up cord to cut thru the rubber band with friction. Run the cord through the loop the rubber band is attached to. With some speed and tension you should be able to remove the rubber band with 1-2 pulls across. It is much faster than using the closing pin, and no there is no need to keep a seam ripper handy. 12. Yeah, me too, after it directed me to this site.
  13. It is taught as theory, utilizing the scientific definition of theory, rather than the layman's.
  14. Has anyone seen this site? I don't speak Chinese, and I've even been able to easily download MP3s. Very easy to use, but I can't help but wonder what features I am missing due to not understanding the text.
  15. There is evidence that supports evolution. Until there is evidence to disprove the theory, it remains a valid explanation, scientifically speaking. ID doesn't have the same kind of supporting evidence. It is not based in science or knowledge. It is based in faith. That is fine, but it has no place in the science curriculum.
  16. Enlighten us, please. What scientifically valid evidence disproves evolution?
  17. I think they mean 3000 FS skydivers minus 125 CRW jumps leaves 375 jumps. Obviously he forgot to subtract your student jumps! Seriously, I think it is difficult to argue that FS is not good training for some aspects of AFF Instructor training, and the canopy skills obtained from CRW are invaluable in any skydiving discipline or training method. 18. Do you mean YHVH? The word Jehovah was inaccurately derived from those four letters. Even YHVH is innacurate, as the vowels were not written down, nor was it acceptable to speak the actual Name of God (with one annual exception for a single Rabbi). There are many names for the same entity in Judaism. For example, Rastafari tend to prefer the name Jah, which refers to exactly the same entity, and is also used in Kabbalah.
  19. Yes, I have some names. But listing them only starts a new argument, which will require more time than I care to take, and will never be resolved in SC. A religous extremist is a religous extremist. The danger does not lie in which name they might use to refer to their Creator.
  20. Yes. If you don't see it already, pointing out the most obvious examples is not going to change that.
