CX 115 - problems grabbing frames from videos
raceface replied to MrCat's topic in Photography and Video
cd supplied with CX cameras contains PMB software which can take surprisingly good framegrabs (final image has resolution bigger than 1920x1080, i don't know how...) my pictures -

most people i see jumping camera + camcorder prefer top-mounted camera and side-mounted camcorder. when not shooting something payed, they remove camera from top-mount and use it for ff or anything. side-mounted camcorders are easier manageable in smaller aircrafts, top-mounted reduce risk of riser slap, so this is some compromise... my pictures
-
- it reduces for about a half how much the box sticks to the side - it fits nice with top-mounted camera - it makes easier to access the hypeye connector, depending on helmet it may be difficult (especially with 2010 camcorders) to side-mount a box which doesn't cover hypeye connector my pictures

this is my box mounted on helmet, designed for CX100/105, but works with full CX range. 2010 models are narrower, but optical axis, camera body lenght, battery shape and position remain the same. inside1 inside2 inside3 outside1 outside2 my pictures

Opinions on my future rig colors?
raceface replied to silent_pumpkin's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i like purple very much, all my gear is purple i would soften that black/purple contrast with a bit of gray or silver, maybe add some accent with lime green which looks very nice on purple: my pictures -
...and i have a backup if magnets fail: my pictures
-
the lid held by magnets is only 50g or less, so it should withstand 20G overload - to side, downwards limited just with strenght of hinges. as i said, we will see... my pictures
-
camera's position is secured by bottom screw, magnets are there just to keep the lid closed. pull-force of these strong magnets should be about 1,2 kg (2,6 lb) and i don't think airflow in freefall can produce stronger suction, but we will see... my pictures
-
i hope the footage will be the same as before, i am concerned if magnet lock will hold strong enough and if it will interfere with stabilizer... my pictures

not all lense's surface is used just that 16:9 frame plus i added a bit becouse of stabilizer's movement. it works like shade mask supplied with new raynox-3035 which replaces 3032. + avoids fingerprints on lens + prevent humid and cold air to penetrate into box + reduces airflow on lens (causing temperature changes and fogging - which is actually not noticed until falling thru wet cloud) my pictures
