  5. Thanks for the clarification. Dude, you did nothing wrong and absolutely everything right. Some people with their hand stuck in their leg strap might have spent the rest of their lives trying to get it out, but you went to silver. Do you use a cypres? ... Marion
  6. I have never had a reserve ride and hope I handle the situation as well as you when/if I have to. Trying to learn from your situation... Are you saying your leg strap was loose enough that your hand actually passed through it when you reached for the handle on your pilot chute? Had you not tightened your leg straps or did one come loose somehow when you bumped the door on exit? ... Marion
  7. For my new canopy I did 3 things 1) I picked bright enough colors that when/if I ever cutaway I will be able to find it. 2) With packing in mind I picked a different color center cell. 3) Also with packing in mind I made the ribs in the center of the cells a recognizable color. ... Marion
  8. Does anyone have an opinion on this helmet in general, and as a platform for a camera? ... Marion
  9. The container was manufactured in July of this year. That model already had tuck tabs on each side. However, the bottom of the flap was exposed and when sitflying the air blew the flap loose from the bottom. The upgrade consisted of adding an additional tuck tab for the bottom of the flap. It holds it very securely now and only took about 20 minutes for a rigger to install. ... Marion
  10. The reserve flap on my Dolphin container needed to be made more freefly friendly. I called the manufacturer (Altico) and found myself speaking to Mike Fury himself. He couldn't have been more helpful. There was an upgrade available that he provided for free that totally solved my problem. ... Marion

    Dolphin

I bought my first rig 3 months ago. I now have about 60 jumps on my Dolphin and am very happy with it. It is very affordable and extremely comfortable. The only problem I ever had was when I started freeflying. The reserve flap on needed to be made more freefly friendly. I called the manufacturer (Altico) and found myself speaking to Mike Fury himself. He couldn't have been more helpful. There was an upgrade available that he provided for free that totally solved my problem.
  12. In August of this year I paid only $150 for a CC course with Scott Miller at Deland. It included 5 jumps. I thought it was a bargain. ... Marion
  13. For three days I have been unable to load the skydivingmovies.com web page. Does anyone know if they are out of business or what? ... Marion
  14. If you are wearing a baggy student jump suit, that would be slowing you down, consider changing that. The best thing you can do is RELAX into a better arch. ... Marion
  15. I will be in the area Thanksgiving weekend and was wondering if Tullahoma would be in operation? If so, what aircraft are they using? ... Marion
  16. My wife asked me last night, "just how long do you plan to do this?". My answer was, "Until I lose interest or feel too old". I am curious. Did you lose interest? Or, as your subject suggests, are you worried about getting hurt eventually? ... Marion
  17. I own a Mamba. A friend who wears glasses asked to try it to see if it worked with his glasses -- and it worked fine. He borrowed it for a jump and said that's the one for him. I have also heard the Freezr helmet will allow glasses. ... Marion
  18. Something has come up and I won't be able to take part in the balloon jump after all ! I hope you guys have a blast. ... Marion
  19. I can relate. In my opinion, packing is the shitty part of skydiving. I have a new zp 190 and have only been able to get it into the bag once or twice by myself. I have about 25 jumps on it. I plan to let packers do it until I have a few more jumps on it hoping it will be easier then. I feel like an idiot watching someone else pack it while all the other skydivers are packing their own, but I figure I would rather get on the next load than spend two hours wrestling with it after each jump. ... Marion
  20. Since balloons just drift with the wind, how can you know where they will land? And for that matter, where will we land? How does all that work? ... Marion

  22. The makers of Pro-Track say that for accurate speed readings, it should be worn on your leg. Do you find that is true? If so, is it off by a significant amount? ... Marion
  23. I am going to Orlando and will be there January 12, 2006. I plan to book time that day. Can anyone give me some advice on what to do so I make best use of my time in the tunnel. Do I need a coach? Should I use the instructors on site there? What else do I need to consider? ... Marion
  24. I went to Deland to attend Scott Miller's "essential skills" canopy control class. It is a great class, I highly recommend it. He travels a lot and may get up your way. I suggest you check his web site or email him for his schedule. http://freedomofflight.tv/public/index.php?which=canopy ... Marion
