It's actually closer to you than FCF. Savage Gulf State Park in McMinnville. I-24 W to the Winchester/Dechard exit then North. You hike in a mile from the parking lot and are standing on top of a 120 ft. rock face split in two. Natural steps have formed going down between the two down into the valley below. Standing on top you look down the valley for miles, open air 3/4 of the way around. Waterfalls everywhere within a ten mile hike. Also there is Foster Falls even closer in South Pittsburg. Also really cool. -

Oh, yeah, but we've got John Ford and all that cool crime and stuff. By the way if you've hiked Fall Creek Falls, have you been to the Stone Door? The most beautiful place on Earth (As viewed from ground level). -
Can't speak for your DZ. He should be able to find a tandem ride at that wieght and build. Some places limit to 220, but 10 lbs over usually won't cause them to stroke. Especially if he loses 10 lbs on the way to the DZ. "Know what I mean wink, wink, nudge, nudge!"

Sometimes I miss that end of the state. Memphis just ain't got no place to climb. Have to say though living 20 minutes from the DZ is not so bad. -
You blood type has several parts. The A,B,O part is a double (i.e. AO, AA, AB, etc. A and B are equally dominant so if you are AB one parent gave you an A, the other B. O is recessive. If you are O then you have no A or B. You could however have parent who are not O. A parent with A could be AO. The other parent could be BO. You could inheret to O from both becoming O. If you parents are both O they have no A or B, so if both parents are O and you are A or B, somebody has some splainin' to do.

That's funny right there I don't care who you are.

Believe it or not many things (including bobbies) the left hand included are often larger than the right. Theory is that it recieves more direct blood flow from the heart because the aorta arches toward the left and the right side has a slightly lower pressure. If anyone needs medical reassurance about whether their boobies with norms, pm me a picture and I'll gladly reassure you. P.S. I'll not offer any opinions on nuts be they left or right!

By now, You'll have had the surgery. Just so you know, Testicular cancer, even when it has spread, is one of the most cureable cancers. You should EXPECT to do well after. Hope all is well, you are in my prayers.

You mean today? Not ALL of them today at least.

Last week I bought a used rig and ordered a Bonehead Havok. The rig was do for a reserve repacking and the cypress was due for its 4 yr. and a new battery. I was bummed because it would take awhile to get the rig back. The DZ owner was talking to me about my "new" rig and when he learned about the cypress he said he had a cypress just back from its 4 yr with a new battery. He futher said that the rig it was for wouldn't be ready for awhile so he gave it to my instructor and told him we'd just trade them out so I could get my rig ready for the weekend. This weekend I'm psyched about getting there and jumping my new rig and my new helmet. It'll be great not having "student" plastered all over my!

The way they do it at our DZ is all gear is sent to the DZ, where it is inspected. It may even be test jumped for you. If acceptable you pay the DZ, who passes it on down the line. I was very impressed by this practice and am glad to see it is standard. Great way to keep us newbies safe. Also in gear selection, I asked my instructor about everything I got.

I saw my first tandem jumper chicken out last week. Poor guy. Looked 19 or so. Tatoos, Earring, you know all the macho bad boy stuff in place. We had a light jump load so the jump seat was open. They let his girlfriend ride to watch her man jump. He was nervous throughout the plane ride, but when we went zero-G at 14,500, he WIGGED! Kicking, screaming "I'm not going!" and grabbing at any and everything. The grabbing quickly got everyone attention and we tried to keep our handles out of reach. Needless to say he got a plane ride down and looked totally dejected (especially when he found out it was non-refundable after getting in the plane). To his credit, he stayed around and watched for the rest of the morning. Maybe he will get the nerve to try it again someday.

Swooping amazes me and I wonder if in the DISTANT future I'll have the nads to try it. Don't know, the ground looks like it comes up fast enough under a normal landing. The thought of an intentional hook turn low to the ground makes my skin crawl!

Rectangular, made of cardboard and has 24 beers in it! Congrats. -
Before you decide to make it a career, talk to instructors at several DZ's. Few people make it their primary career. Most DZ's aren't open 7 days a week and even at the full time DZ's you have to work your butt off for a decent living. Also no matter how much you enjoy anything, if you get paid to do it you risk it becomming just a "job". Get into jumping for run, talk to instructors and decide later about the career aspect.

Well, forgive the newbie confusion. Should have read Sabre not Spectre. Close names, but after looking at the recommendations from manufacturer I'd be pushing the weight limit for an intermediate jumping a spectre 210. Sorry for the confusion and I hope this makes more sense.

My body wieght is 210 lbs. The DZ altitude is less that a couple hundred feet sea level. My profile now shows the correct number of jumps. My student rig was very similar. Don't know the exact model but I jumped a PD ZP 210 through most of my jumps. The only other rig I jumped was a 230 (unsure of make but it was the F-111 fabric) While the 210 ZP definitely responds more quickly, I am very wary with slow progression of my skills. My instructor is very conservative and I trust his judgement (he helped me select the rig). Now if I can just get the timing of the flare down and quit falling to my knees on landing! Once I turn onto final, I don't make any controll movements below my head untill I flare. I appreciate your advice and would love to have further input because I am definiteley a chicken when it comes to the ground and my body!

Passed my AFF today. Up all night at work night before. I had planned to jump in the am and sleep that afternoon before work. Winds were up so had to wait untill 3pm but I got my last 2 jumps in. Bought my jumpsuit, helmet (bonehead havok) and a used rig (Spectre 210). The pool was closed so they were planning on dousing me with water from a couple of big buckets. Luckily someone pointed out I had come on my bike and since it was a 20 mile ride home and it was 50 deg. out maybe they should skip that (whew!) I'm bushed but what a great day! I'll try to catch some occaisonal Z's tonight then it back out for my fist full day as a real boy!
