  1. found the site and you should see my forecasted winds! http://usairnet.com/cgi-bin/launch/code.cgi?sta=KMEM&model=avn&state=TN&Submit=Get+Forecast
  2. What site is that you pictured. I'd love to find that one!
  3. Enjoy. Hope the wind is calm there. I'll be cutting trees around the DZ hoping the wind will slack up which it won't untill I give up and go home to catch a few Z's before work.
  4. You mean after I shat my pants? Leave 'em be with minimals input as long as they were both out an functional. Front to back, fly the dominant. Side to side hold on and hope for the best ready to chop if they start to downplane.
  5. Thanks. My understanding was a pilot chute in tow usually meant there was not a straight line direction of pull to the closing pin. Always glad to learn.
  6. By the time you realize you have a pilot chute in tow two things are true: A) If your main hasn't deployed it's not likely to after your reserve deploys. B) You are quickly going to reach your decide to act alttude. Pulling both would be acceptable I think as the risers will not go anywhere with the chute stowed, but just pulling the reserve is the action with the least wasted motion. If in doubt always refer to rule number one-- PULL.
  7. Welcome to the dark side. It's a great sport. Also the DZ makes a great place to run your bike full out down the runway on off days!
  8. There's something very wrong with you, very, very wrong with you. But, at least he's master of his domain!
  9. Besides, you wouldn't want to miss all that beautiful poetry!
  10. When I went to do my tandem, I was interested in the sport and wanted to try it, but I had NO IDEA what I was in for untill I exited the plane. After that it was Katie bar the door! I hate to discourage someone from their excitement when retention rates are so low. Even as new to the sport as I am I hate that I am already so skeptical when I ask a tandem passenger if they are planning on coming out to go further (which I try to do to everyone on our DZ). When they beam "Yeah I'll be back soon to learn!", I mutter to myself "Scha fright and monkeys might fly out of my butt!" I hope they keep there enthusiasm, but if not, they'll find out soon enough. I wish them all well and tell them how much I too fell in love with it right off the bat.
  11. Good luck. The winds may be tricky, but towards afternoon who knows. During my AFF waited all day long for the winds to die and got 3 in one late afternoon, so don't give up, it's fun just to hang.
  12. Not only that, but from what I hear the federal funding is almoast soley due to the numbers of takeoffs and landings accrued by the skydivers. I know it's far from over, but a victory's a victory. Congrats!
  13. 1) Get B liscence and coach rating. 2) Go to Rantoul 3) Convince my group of friends to consider competing in realtive work. (We'll suck for awhile but might as well try anyway.) 4) Get one other person who currently claims to be interested to get through AFF.

  15. It can be a very stressful job. Sometimes the chicken just won't cooperate, I get so frustrated I just have to choke the chicken....Oh.. I didn't just say that did I?
  16. I am currently training for the professional chicken rodeo circuit. Gotta loose a little more wieght as they give out before I can get out of the gate with them suckers!
  17. Great, now I got writer's cramp!

    Tornados

Suggest keepeing slightly more than minimum cloud clearance in these particular situations. Also no downwinders under these conditions!
  19. I learned I have "Big Burble". Gotta turn that into a pickup line somehow.."Hey baby, I got Big Burble."
  20. Look at it this year. You've used up all your Mals for the next few years, so sit back and relax now!
  21. Glad you're ok. Mine's still out there somewhere. Today was the first day I jumped all my own packjobs unsupervised. Glad to feel each deployment.
  22. Great decision. Hope you enjoy.
