I bought an M-Flex when I got back in the sport 4 years ago. Guy named Mick gave me a lot of personal attention and re-educated me on gear.

On my second Wings container. No pics, but it is Navy Blue/White tie dye. I mean the WHOLE thing is tie-dyed - legstrap covers, mudflaps, RP/C cap ... everything. The harness is navy.

And now that you've heard all the scary shit and the seed of concern has been planted, please don't allow it to grow. In most cases, those tail strikes are less a result of pilot creativity and more the result of very experienced skydivers getting a little overly creative. As you progress through the sport, you will find that 99.99% of skydiver injuries and worse are the result of that skydiver creativity. For example, we could reduce the number of injuries and fatalities exponentially each year if we formalized a process of education rather than experimentation of "Hook Turns" (a whole separate issue). What you need to focus on is this - Your Instructors go through a rigorous training program to get the ratings they hold; whether its AFF or Tandem. Their whole reason to exist is to ensure that you are properly trained as a student and to ensure you have a safe skydive as a student. You have responsibilities and they have responsibilities. Their responsibility is to train you well, assist on the skydive and do their best to ensure that you have a safe skydive. Your responsibilities are to actively listen and perform in accordance with the dive flow of each level of training. Now, I can assure you that they will do their job. I can share with you more than one story or video of an instructor who went above and beyond the call of their own safety to ensure the student's safety was top priority. Where you are learning to skydive, they have some of the best instructors on the planet. They will do their job. The very first thing to focus on is your instructor's training. The very last thing to even think about is hitting the aircraft.

I read two goals here; one is to "make whoopee in flight" and the other is more $$ for jumping. You should know that there are some DZ's that believe its inapproproriate to exchange "whoopee in flight" for jumps. Keep your eyes at 45 degrees in front of you instead of looking between your feet to flare. You'll flare at the more appropriate height. If you look straight down, you'll flare too high.

Somebody PLEASE BUY THIS AWESOME DZ!!!

$400,000?!?!??! for 2.91 acres and a few buildings. Whew. I'm staying put. A private airport with several buildings (including a 75X100' 2 story morton hangar with upstairs living area), its own 3300' strip, landing lights and 125 acres against an orchard in the middle of a several hundred acres and cut with a river sold here for $325,000. -
Hey, Clint... Congratulations... some folks never get to even meet Bill Newell, much less have him on their SCR Dive. Did you happen to get a copy of the video. If not, I did and we can work it out for you to get one. Keith

I used the Jive Translator from the other thread to help me understand: We lawya's deplo' unsafe workin' condishuns. All throughout da damn U-S (down low, an' apparent-like Germany) mamas an' daddy-Os be put at risk by da uncarin' attitudes o' management. Obvious-like, dis video raises serious concerns 4 da safety an' well-bein' o' da damn American worka'. Employa's should 'espect t' be served wit' some lawsuit seekin' mo' money fo' damages an' relief until such grievous condishuns as demonstrated in da video be fixt.

I was there too. Met Mark. He and I did a Texas Two-Ton 20 way (it wasn't pretty - at all), then did a beautiful 8-way to get an SCR candidate his award on a dive with Bill Newell - hisself. Please tell Mark that Perry is having pictures made of the dive, sending them to Bill Newell for signature and will let us know when he's got them.

Well, I'm 6'6" and 240# Gold Wings, PRO rating, Tandem, S/L 20 years of skydiving , blah, blah, blah and must point you to your Instructors. Trying to point you in the right direction for buying gear at this point would be the same as trying to help you buy a new vehicle over the net. Go to those who know you and can help you best.

Recession.............................Economy.. Hmm.....??
nightjumps replied to rhino's topic in The Bonfire
The philosophy of lowering interest rates goes back to the Keynesian theory of economics. Lowering interest rates is supposed ot stimulate home purchases and refinancing so that folks will spend money on durable goods. That was probably a good plan when there were no credit cards, but times have changed and I think it most folks just use the extra money to pay down their debt, rather than purchase durable goods. I must admit that this is way outside my area of expertise and that I only have 12 college hours in econ. When I watched G. dubya's speech on stimulating the economy, I couldn't help but wonder if he missed one area that might help stimulate the economy more: What about a tax credit to those companies that hire someone in the next twelve months. A lot of companies are in need of hiring someone, but are just "kinda waiting" to see what the economy does before hiring. Any econ majors out there that could address this? -
In this order; An internal clock The other guy's altimeter while turning points, Two Dytters Calibrated eyeballs. And count while tracking. I occasionally look at my altimeter.

When to advise SL to an AFF student?
nightjumps replied to poohbeer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
With the new Integrated Student Program, they all count - including Tandems. You can wade through each of the method-specific modes of instruction towards success. If you feel an S/L will help... go ahead and do it. Learn at your own pace and explore. You've got 25 jumps to get your A license. It doesn't matter how you get there. -
Well, they grows 'em a little bigger in Texas.
