    You shouldn't assume that some of us aren't veterans simply because we recognize what the VFW post commander did in response to the vandalism was also wrong. And you should not assume I do not remember when things were so bad I wanted out. Like when shit was so awful I forgot it was my own birthday. It was never a cake walk and I knew it would not be, I tried to do everything I could. I do not for one minute regret my actions and yet I still remember when it was not so good. So next time you want to judge me do this first. Get on top of a 3 story building, accelerate to 40mph and jump off onto a large boulder or concrete surface. Then report back to me on how you feel about it. Yeah I had it really easy.

    If I feel my life is in imminent danger. I will always conduct myself in a professional manner and act like a gentleman if I encounter a police officer who feels the need to arrest me. Shoot at me for no obvious reason, pull a knife, hit me with the car and all bets are off. I figure this way there is no mistake about their intentions. Before anyone gets all upset, remember I have quite a few cops as friends and they AGREE with me.

I guess it is because we have not mastered the art of twisting our faces into pansy ass facial gestures. I think we must take lessons from flag burners and protesters about how real tough guys show their rage and angst.

    Other than staying off the dining room table and using their very fancy litterbox, I don't force them to do anything. They're cats. My mom got me one of those birds/fish/whatever videos for cats one year for Christmas. They had zero interest. When I travel, I do try to leave the local NPR station playing on a radio. /Marg You will someday come home to cats wearing Birkenstock sandals and complaining about how bad the bush administration depleted the mice supply. Cats are ingrates.

    I hope you enjoy this and share this with your kids. Often classrooms are boring and the teachers cannot even fathom what it is that they are trying to teach. Here is a series that has some of the worlds brightest theoretical physicists talking about this equation and it's implications, and also how it has impacted their lives. NOVA was probably my favorite TV series as a kid and I love it even more now.     OK, so what in your opinion would be a good way to handle this situation? Me, I think the guy got off pretty light and it's apparent the guy who taped him to the flag pole does too. Otherwise he wouldn't have asked that the man's identity remain undisclosed for fear of retribution from others who aren't as lenient as he. At a minimum, a serious ass kicking was in order IMO just for the simple fact he willfully destroyed someone else's personal property, the fact that it was the US flag makes it even more egregious. Lawrocket's post is pretty much spot on with the way a lot of Veterans think, not just the old crusty ones. Agreed Scott, many of the guys we know would have been a "little" more punitive. I know I would have been a bit pissed over it.

    Never fuck with some old guy that looks like he likes it that way. My dad used to scare people to death without saying anything to them. It was the way he looked at them, like he could kill them then settle down and watch some TV. The truth is, he and others like him could have. They went through such horror that nothing on earth scared them, and any punishment a court could hand down seemed laughable.

    I know Buffalo is good, but I get Murray Gray Angus for $1 a pound on the hoof. $0.43 per pound processing for anything that actually gets wrapped.

    Well we must consider the validity of insurance claims. As a cop to go out on disability is quite the deal. Also we must consider who that mayor does not want to be chased.
