Violent Crime Rising Sharply in Some Cities
warpedskydiver replied to tkhayes's topic in Speakers Corner
Chicago Tribune, Chicago, IL, 12/9/98 State: IL American Rifleman Issue: 3/1/1999 As Bruno Kosinski, 81, of Chicago's Ukranian Village was getting into his car before dawn one morning, two teenagers attacked him with pepper spray, knocked him down, stole his wallet and threatened to kill him, according to police. That's when the 5-foot, 5-inch Kosinski fought back, rising to his feet and firing once with a handgun he carries in his pants for protection. The shot struck a male attacker in the neck and sent a female accomplice fleeing. Though he did not have a carry permit, Kosinski was not charged with any crime. "He had a registered weapon and used it to defend himself against these gangbangers," said a police spokesman. -
Violent Crime Rising Sharply in Some Cities
warpedskydiver replied to tkhayes's topic in Speakers Corner
The police say the suspects and the victims tend to be black, young — midteens to mid-20's — and have previous criminal records. They tend to know each other. Several cities said that domestic violence had also risen. And the murders tend to be limited to particular neighborhoods. Downtown Milwaukee has not had a homicide in about five years, but in largely black neighborhoods on the north side, murders rose from 57 in 2004 to 94 last year. -

Dick Cheney Shoots Somebody Accidentally?
warpedskydiver replied to Duckwater's topic in Speakers Corner
Whittington shot a bird and went to retrieve it in the tall grass, while Cheney and the third hunter walked to another spot and discovered a second covey. Whittington "came up from behind the vice president and the other hunter and didn't signal them or indicate to them or announce himself," Armstrong said. like I said before get all the facts and then open your mouth...looks like both of them were at fault -
However yes that is quite a bit more romantic than having her bite the mattress which is what I was planning for my gf j/k!!!

The fact that you missed by 15 feet proves my point more than word ever could. And you have know idea what I would or would not understand. I guess you don't even have an idea of how close that really is due to conditions and having no spotter. like I said keep your words to yourself will ya?

This is bullshit! I don't care how good of a shot you are, you don't just take a "fun shot" to test your skills and you Luck. I myself enjoy shooting long ranges for practice and would feel quite comfortable taking a reasonable long shot on whitetail in the correct conditions.(not 900 yards) Where I hunt however I am lucky to take a shot over 50 yards and the furthest I ever shot down a logging road was just under 200 yards offhand. At these short distance there is not much fear of ruining meat. The longest shot I took this year was 60 yards. The shortest was right under my stand. All lungs and heart. I will probably have a belly full of Venison by the time you read this. But back to my original statement, Shooting at a running dear at almost 900 yards( in the wind no less) is piss poor ethics. It is people like you that give hunters a bad name. Don't take pot shots. Don't shoot if you can't make a clean kill. I would never allow you to hunt out of my camp or attend a hunt with someone like yourself if I have before hand knowledge of your horrendious ethics. Not that this would bother you. Josh yack yack yack.... where I hunt it is a T zone which means the population is so great that they have mass starvation at a level which actually would make you ill if you witnessed it. As for my shooting ability if you feel like you should never take a shot over 200yds please don't everyone needs to stay within ones limits If that animal were standing still I would have had a very good chance of a kill as for my shooting ability your stating that it is "bullshit" shows one thing you do not know anything about me or my background. I have actually made a kill at around 900meters in the past but that is something that you won't understand...and something I will not explain (at least not in polite company) TYVM for for implying I am not a competent hunter I would like to add that the one I shot that was hauling ass @211 yds away I shot offhand with a rifle that weighs 14lbs so please by all means do not ever question someones abilities unless you actually know them personally... I wouldn't care to hunt with you anyway as I do not hunt from a stand or over feeders. The men I hunt with I served with in the United States Army and the lowest ranking among them was an E6 Ssgt. I guess I will be forced to eat the venison in my freezer as I only killed six this year as opposed to the seven I got last year to this very day I have never wounded an animal only to have it get away and have never shot one twice. I usually wind up shooting backup after the 1st day out in order to make sure nothing runs away wounded. I have been hunting since my Nono(grandfather) took me at 6 yrs old to hunt rabbits with a single shot 22short stevens crackshot boys rifle I also do gunsmithing at times and have consulted with Gunners Mate Chiefs in the Navy Seals on weapons so please stop your lecture I would also admit that if I didn't know me I may have thought the same way but would not have been so critical without knowing all the facts
