I can almost guarantee that the 72yr old wished he was armed. Especially if that was the 72yr old former US MARINE and when anyone defends themsleves with thier fists the criminal can decide to run away, escalate it, or just shoot them dead. At that point the crminal can pretty much do as they wish. A gun is not the only solution, but having it and not needing it, is far better than needing it and not having it.

Dozens died in Syrian-Iranian chemical weapons experiment
warpedskydiver replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
'Dozens died in Syrian-Iranian chemical weapons experiment' By JPOST.COM STAFF www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1189411428847&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull Proof of cooperation between Iran and Syria in the development and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction was brought to light Monday in a Jane's Magazine report that dozens of Iranian engineers and 15 Syrian officers were killed in a July 23 accident in Syria. According to the report, cited by Channel 10, the joint Syrian-Iranian team was attempting to mount a chemical warhead on a scud missile when the explosion occurred, spreading lethal chemical agents, including sarin nerve gas and VX gas. The factory was created specifically for the purposes of altering ballistic missiles to carry chemical payloads, the magazine report claimed. Reports of the accident were circulated at the time, however, no details were released by the Syrian government, and there were no hints of an Iranian connection. The report comes on the heels of criticism leveled by the Syrains at the United States, accusing it of spreading "false" claims of Syrian nuclear activity and cooperation with North Korea to excuse an alleged Israeli air incursion over the country this month. According to Global Security.org, Syria is not a signatory of either the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), - an international agreement banning the production, stockpiling or use of chemical weapons, or the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT). Syria began developing chemical weapons in 1973, just before the Yom Kipper War. Global Security.org cites the country as having one of the most advanced chemical weapons programs in the Middle East. -
Ok were they armed and with what? ...more than mean looks on their faces? I would like to know.

You were quite lucky to not have been left dead on the street. That is about all I can surmise from that. Bill Von said that folks, just incase you cant remember from just a few lines up. Just remember when it comes to defending yourself use Bill's advice and never use a gun. There are tens of thousands(if not many more) of people lying in their graves who did not use a gun in their attempt to defend themsleves. And here I was under the stupid assumption that in defending ones life that every possible measure should be taken.

That is simply not true, got data on that? Oh BTW don't go running to the brady bunch for anwsers

Yep, always a cry for bigger etc., but shot placement is still the key.

There were real world studies done on another website showing that the 9mm was superior to .40s&w and .45ACP in penetration. They used car doors, windhields, a stack of sheet metal spaced with 35mm film canisters for penetration tests. 9mm has be shown to actually be inferior to .556NATO in CQC situations where over penetration was a concern, and it usually is. Even 00 buckshot and quite a bit smaller overpenetrates when indoors. I like 9mm but you need to choose some good ammo for it if you want better performance. Hydroshock, Corbon, Black Hills HP, you get the idea. Besides, it is nice knowing you could have a 15-20 round magazine if you choose without being awkward. My Choice would be .357Sig So given that no matter what caliber you choose, count on it coming out the other side of your intended target.

In Camden, TN On July the 16th of 2007 the family home of a U.S. soldier serving in Iraq burnt. They lost everything. His wife and children were home at the time. His youngest son became a hero that morning. As the house filled with black smoke he went to his brothers room and literally picked him up and threw him down the hall to his mother. They went out the front door, by then the hall was full of black smoke, so he dove out the window of his brothers room. The family has lost everything. He is having to go back to his unit in Iraq soon. This soldier has been serving in Iraq for almost 13 months and now has no home to come to. We are asking for signatures so that we can submit them along with an application to ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Maybe we can get this soldier and his family the help they need. www.petitiononline.com/ctn38320/petition.html

Watch out before she does a Darth Vader on you!

LED Headlamps. Spare batteries. What kind of pack you going to carry?
-
figure you will need at least 4 liters a day of water while hiking. that gives you eight hours of actual hiking @ .5 liters per hour. While resting find water , staying hydrated will keep you from cramping.

for blisters either use moleskin, or foam surgical tape. The foam surgical tape is incredibly stick and stays put. Use superglue to close cuts that have already been cleaned

Bear repellant, large caliber handgun, zone bars or something else that is tasty. Lots of water, first aid pack, mylar blanket, raingear. Knife, (remember you are only as sharp as the blade.) cayume lights, GPS, handheld 2 way radios with weather band.

Ok if you say so, since you are the only one who knows anything at all, about everything. Since you are always right and can see no other viewpoint, there is no need to discuss this issue any further, or any other for that matter. From now on I shall never debate you on anything, because if I say it it must be wrong (in your mind) So from now on, argue all by yourself.
-
That sounds very much to me like you are saying that those who refused to serve in Nazi Germany were unworthy ingrates. Now lets stop fencing around the issue. Answer a straight question, were people who refused to serve in the Wermacht during WW2 maggots? Is it more important to obey your government than protest against fascism? Do you really believe that? Is serving in the military when called always patriotic? Is it the only thing you can do in order to prove your patriotism? Well if they stayed in Germany, reaping the benefits that were provided to them by the rise of the Nazi Party, and of the benefits provided to them as the result of the conquering of other nations, then YES. If you choose not to fight for what is right, but simply stay, and condone what is going on then you are not honorable. Either fight when called, or leave and fight against a regime. Doing nothing but lining your pockets, and benefitting from the efforts of others, has no honor in it.

Probably tougher in a bar fight as well.

Yo don't have to agree, or like something in order to understand why, and the importance of such.

Well it becomes a question of your committment to your country, your lawfully elected leaders, whether you abide by the laws of the land, your confidence in the General officers of your military and so forth. If you live in a country, and utilize it resources, benefit from the safety provided you and your family by the military, and are free to leave if you so choose, then it becomes clear that you MAY have to serve when you are called. It may be the only time in your life that you are actaully asked, or compelled to do some sort of service, or duty to your country. It is what has been called by many as the only thing you will ever have to do to prove your worthiness, and patriotism.
-
That is because most of the drunks in the bar are Irish!!! Imagine that!!!
-
ok, at least you clarified that. Well at least one part of that was supposed to be humorous. Oh well.
-
You post nothing but hyperbole, and insult. To make it more clear, argue the issues at hand in a more coherent, and intellectual manner, and you might make a point.
-
Well you used the SS as your example, only political zealots as well as Nazi Party officials staffed the Waffen SS. Use this as a more accurate statement. To have served in the German military during WWII did not make one a war criminal, in fact being a regular soldier in the german army absolved many men of wrongdoing. There is no dishoner to fight on behalf of your own country in it's time of need. Whether or not the reason why the war had occurred was just. Regular Soldiers do not make policy, nor make strategic plans. That is one of the reasons why soldiers are protected under the rules of war/Geneva Conventions. If that had not been true the vanquished armies of this world would have been slaughtered en mass after being captured or defeated.
-
You can question and vote all you want, but when you are called you had better be a fucking man, not a maggot. You do realise that under your code of ethics those who served in the SS are more admirable than those who distributed anti Nazi literature? Militarism and placing a higher priority on obediance than political dissent are hallmarks of fascism. Your extrapolation of my statements is wrong, and actually rather humorous. Geez please try harder will you?...Please?

Bill WTF am I getting a warning about? That is rediculous
