Does your own opinion disregard any of our constitutional rights, or are some of them okay to do away with?
-
That alone is enough, but when you are a US Citizen, it makes these issues far more important.
-
There actually if far more if you like, I will post everything available. However somehow some of his voting records are now unavailable, even though they were available just last year.

Help me try to understand this re: Blacks voting for Obama
warpedskydiver replied to Muenkel's topic in Speakers Corner
I say that others may do so in a response to their own "white guilt" ignoring the true issues, and ignoring voting records because of the color of the mans skin. It seems that if all the data is looked at, he is an unfavorable candidate, but many would feel that it would look racist if they were not to vote form him anyways. -

91st GA SB0048: No privacy of mental health records for FOID applicants SB1614: One handgun per month SB1616: Must apply in person @ police for FOID 92nd GA SB0041: Order of protection must forfeit all firearms regardless if you are deemed to be a threat SB0051: Stalking convictions = prohibited person SB0059: Police can confiscate firearms @ domestic violence calls SB1338: Assault weapons ban SB2083: Assault Weapons ban 93rd GA SB2386: Self defense with a firearm is an affirmative defense against municipal firearms bans. Also, self defense is immune to liability. (Sounds good, but its not) Senate amendment No 1 gutted the affirmative defense against municipal bans and added a liability shield for homeowners who defend themselves. Barak Obama was not a sponsor until after the amendment gutted the bill. This one is barely a pro-gun vote.

Help me try to understand this re: Blacks voting for Obama
warpedskydiver replied to Muenkel's topic in Speakers Corner
Why not just call me a racist like a grown man would, instead you make thinly veiled remarks. When you see racism in others and make such claims, maybe you are the one that actually is practicing prejudice, and racism. If I say something regarding race, I state my opinion, but if I were to make thinly veiled statements, and try to hide my real meaning, maybe then I would be just like you and others. -

warpedskydiver replied to Muenkel's topic in Speakers Corner
Nope - my Dad's the perfect example. Lifelong Democrat, in his 70's, tough working-class childhood, raised and lived mostly in the Northeast; veteran USMC noncom, college degree on the GI bill; fiscal and social moderate with an age-appropriate conservative tinge, career in business management; strong on national defense. Thinks Democrats have the most compassion for ordinary people and try to improve society, when they're not obsessed with being sissified victims; and Republicans mainly only give a shit about taxes and enriching themselves, although they are more sensible on national defense. Welfare stinks; unions are a necessary evil. Thinks the Afghanistan war is justified and should have been fought to win from the start, and the Iraq war is an inexcusable waste of American blood. Dad votes mostly for Democrats, but he does not suffer fools or pussies gladly. He couldn't bring himself to vote for McGovern in '72, and he voted against Carter in '80 to punish him for his whining incompetence. If he were younger, he might be a Libertarian. Thinks Clinton was, on the whole, a pretty good President, albeit morally a pig. Thinks G.W. Bush is an idiot and an embarrassment. But Dad's also a product of his times. He's not a virulent racist, but, especially under stress, there is this latent undercurrent of racism that rarely shows itself, but that I'm aware of because, well, he's my Dad. He has no problem with blacks generally; but he'd have been appalled had one of his kids married one, you know? Dad's going to vote for McCain. Although he won't admit it, there's simply no way in hell he can ever bring himself to vote for a black person as President. There's no doubt in my mind that, all other things being equal, if Barack Obama was a white man with a "regular" name, even if he was a smarty-pants liberal (in other words, if he was a Bill Clinton clone), he'd vote for him, and not McCain. That's the OTHER kind of white person who won't vote for Obama because he's black. Oh, well - there's still Mom to work on. I have 2 colleagues like that. Both in their 60s, lifelong Dems, but state they won't vote for Obama because he's black. At least you are willing to vote for him because he is black. -
Christel Sabine has a far different opinion than any of the older germans I ever spoke to, her lack of knowledge of what the Nazi's were really like is a real shame. If she did know, the comparison of the Nazi's and anyone would never occur.

You need to take a breath and realize what you just did, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Well, you're a lifetime member. DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE? I think you were trying to be funny, but that illustrates your own opinion of me, and in reality shows your contempt for persons that are considered "Distinguished Lifetime Members" Next time, look up the definition before you open your mouth. BTW the mere fact you posted such a thing is really shitty of you. Do you often demean other disabled veterans of the US Military? How about you go take your lumps instead of one of us? Care to trade places?

This is the problem. if we all treat 18yrs of age as "Children" they will be as responsible as children. Give it a fucking break, 18 is a damned adult, and you know it. Society is to blame for this crap. Treat 18 like the adult they are, in full. Perhaps, not many of your 18 y/o kids still are in school/high school, whatever. Many of ours are. They are somewhere in between, no more kids and not yet adults. I just guess: You have no kids. How much experience do you personally have with 17, 18 y/o then?? With 18, they are no "damed adults". They're starting to become adults. For many of them, it will need many years. We treat kids as kids, teenies as teenies, young adults as "young adults" - especially in our legislation. That's the difference. Your country kills young adults. I rest my case, In your country, men and women serve in your armed forces at that age, and yet you perceive them to be "not adults", but as people who are somewhat diminished in their ability to decide things for themselves They cannot therefore responsible for themselves, as well as the security of your entire country, and should not be trusted to do so. I am sure everyone is of the same opinion as you are.
-
Well, since there are some that say everything is Bush's fault, I figured I would ask if Obama wins, will he reverse all the wrongs attributed to Bush? Surely the change in the White House will be all that is required. Likewise there are some that think that the democrats are the root of all evil, I wonder how many people will actually admit that both the democrats and republicans are on the same side, against the people.

Congratulations, may you always be successful!
