Back then galvanized was used, for some reason in SoCal they were not using copper when they should have My friends Grandma's house in Sylmar had copper 2" service, but her house was actually on a farm of 20 acres at one time, in the 30's it was subdivided. She had a huge yard still, over 2 acres.

Nice pressure! here we have only 35psi we have an over abundance of water as well, I really wish they would turn it up. Do you live on a large hill or in the mountains? Santa Barbara, that figures. Damn that brings back memories. I remember all the night blooming jasmine, and the smell of the tires burning on my car. We drag raced a lot, rally and road racing as well, some of it was cough "unofficial" I had a 1976 Trans Am with a Herb Adams VSE suspension and a 455cid engine bored 0.060" over it produced 650hp But damned that gas needle was fast I thought gas was expensive @ $0.95 a gallon

Test that timer so you know it is reliable, have a neighbor check that things are getting watered. Things can and will go wrong, vigilance is the key. That is why I suggested the 4 way splitter. Two hoses, one a soaker, and two lines for the emitters. You can splice a hose into a line as well using barbed fittings and a stainless steel hose clamp. Buy a large roll of soaker, run it in rings throughout the flowers, use the extra elsewhere. bury it in mulch, that way the water does not evaporate on the surface. COSTCO has that rubber mulch which is very nice as well. ceramic pellets also make nice bedding cover, they are used for hydroponics. Remember that ones you do this snakes and other things will seek out the water, look before you reach.

Forced blood samples from DWI suspects

[quades voice]Never mind that anomaly. That has to be the only case ever of this happening[/QV] I know quite a few cops, a few of them have standing orders to never let any police officers into their home. That is an order to their family, one of the cops has had his car vandalized and his wife threatened after he arrested a Chicago Police Officer after that officer beat a 17 year old girl. Charges got dropped. -
I have done it, it is very easy. Did you buy the brass four way valve to split the water into four lines or are you using just one? Take your water pressure and divide that by how many emitters are on one line, you really do not want to exceed 15-20 so that the pressure remains high any will blow out and mineral deposits that occur. The emitters need to be checked periodically for flow. You can also run emitters off of a soaker hose to get to the plants that are not getting anything from the soaker. Are you using a timer? or are you going to do this manually?

The Russians have a long range bomber that can do sustained speeds nearly that John, it is called the TU-160 It has so much onboard fuel it would be easy for it to reach the US Mainland deep into our country. The TU-26 and variants of the TU22 are no slouches either. High subsonic transit and then a dash of over 1500 miles at mach 2.5+ -

You and Bill are the bestest friends a bad cop could ever have. When even their peers know it was a wrongful death you would still defend it as "Reasonable" -

So if a car speeds up at an amazing rate behin d you and you do not see lights until it is mere feet away you will just assume all is OK and there is nothing to be startled about. Gotcha. Good thing everyone can assume it is not just some idiot trying to run you down. I guess you are the only one who sees the truth when a Judge, Jury and Prosecutors as well as fellow officers all saw it the other way. I know cops who don't think the police are always right. You are one hell of a cheerleader and apologist. -

Again I guess you think the prosecutors were also stupid in that fact they brought charges against the cop? -

I can't speak to that, but it's completely clear to me from the facts given the motorcycle rider had other options besides fleeing from the police and didn't take them. He made a very poor choice, tried to run from the cops, screwed up, got himself killed and the COP is the one that pays the price? Yeah, I can't speak to that at all. Sometimes jurys do stupid things. Again tell me how he knew it was a cop? You mean when they were just feet from him and hit the lights? This caused him to be startled and lose control. 55mph on a 4 lane highway is not a crime that needs to be punished by death. It was just a $75 fine If you were on a motorcycle, going home late at night and someone nearly runs you over from behind, then hits the lights I bet you would maintain composure. -

So, you're telling me he had 30 seconds to stop it. What part of the fact that the cop sped up excessively, got almost on his rear wheel and then hit the lights do you not understand? The guy was not evading, he was going home. He died a block or two away from his house. Don't make excuses for an act that had no excuse. -

If you are so confident that the police could do no wrong why do you think the cops lost the suit? Also the officer was fired and was later charged. -

The cops scared the shit out of the guy by chasing him so hard. he was doing 55mph and the cop car nearly hit him from behind. Length of the chase was only less than a half mile. Chase as in speeding excessively in order to catch up to him and then hit the lights. He never tried to evade. -

In order to draw blood in this state you need a medical license from the DPR. So training or not, they need to be licensed and insured to practice. -

I know about this and I live here. There is no way a police officer is qualified to draw blood. That should only be allowed at a hospital AFTER charges are filed. Think about this, they accidently screw up with the needle, the person is on coumadin, their INR is above where it should be. Then they start bleeding profusely and in the midst of all the panic, they stroke out. You know who will be left holding the tab on the lawsuits? Yes that is correct, the taxpayer. Not long ago the Hanover Park police chased a speeding suspect to his death when he struck a curb with his motorcycle. He was guilt apparently of doing 20mph over the limit. The lawsuit that was brought was won and there was not enough insurance for the city to cover that amount. The taxpayers were forced to have taxes hiked and bonds issued to cover it. -

I think it should be illegal to do so unless that person is in the hospital for medical treatment or a serious accident has occurred. Field sobriety tests and breathalizers are good enough. -

Sotomayor vows 'fidelity to the law'

Nonsense. Scalia is a horse's ass. Is that what you would call some sort of evidence refuting his intellect as a jurist? Are you actually smarter than he is? More accomplished? More experienced? Understand the Constitution better? Better read? -
Obama's spending and the National Debt

I want a military that's sized for defense instead of empire building. We should downsize our 1,473,900 active personel and 1,458,500 reserves to the 65, 890 and 53,398 (23,401 of whom are unpaid) needed in first-world countries with our land-mass and border length like Canada. In 2008 we spent $651,000,000,000 on budget, or $441,685 per full-time military employee. Assuming we're content saving a mere $5,000,000,000,000 per decade (while billions are pocket change, trillions do add up), after right-sizing our military we can increase per-solider spending 540% to $2,827,821 a year. That should provide exceptional equipment. We could even boost deployed soldier salaries to the same comfortable six figure range demanded by private contractors who work in the same conditions. We'd still be spending 750% of what a comparable country does. The problem is that the figures you posted are not spent on each individual soldier, they are the cheapest component when you look at what the money is spent on vs. return on the investment. -
Wow I mourn his passing. Too bad most of our country could not give a shit and yet held MJ as such a hero and icon. Heroes are not athletes, they are not actors, they are not scientists, they are not politicians. They are people who were thrust into something they could not or would not avoid. We are lucky that people like these ever existed.

An onboard camera and a controller linked through a laptop will work wonders. Add in a HUD display and you are all set. A GPS could make it autonomous. Heck you could program it to land itself.

Obama's spending and the National Debt
warpedskydiver replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
I think you are confused that I was never concerned about fiscal responsibility. Spending needs to occur, sometimes that number is quite high. Reagan's spending was largely on the military which was woefully lacking in very department. When I joined during Carter we still had equipment from the WWII era. We had flak vests instead of kevlar. Steel pots which were useful for wasking up or boing water. Crappy boots. Lousy gear, worn out weapons. Awful vehicles. I guess you were ok with all that.
