  1. By the way, I registered for a canopy control course in DeLand. It's Scott Miller's course. The only requirements for his course are that I be self-supervised and current. In his email to me, he even mentioned that I would be able to rent gear if needed. Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  2. Changing the law won't prevent under age people from drinking. Instead of looking to the government, parents need to teach their children how to act responsibly. Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  3. I've had a couple of other people offer to jump it for me. That seems like a good sign
  4. LOL...I can't escape it! Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  5. I know Erin and she knows that my reply wasn't meant to be taken seriously. I would NEVER give real advice to anyone because as I said: ***I know nothing...really.Quote And I meant that. That being said, I have asked this question myself and was told that I should not exceed 1:1 when I purchase a rig. I've also been told that I should ask an instructor before I buy anything. 6. Well Erin... I've heard that as long as you are less than 1:1 that's good. But I know nothing...really. I'm just posting here because it's you
  7. That's amazing! On a hop 'n' pop! I suffer from "over-thinking" and "over-planning". It sounds like you just jumped right in and took a chance. My goal for the summer - plan less and be more impulsive. My next jump is supposed to be self-supervised tracking - maybe I should do a hop 'n' pop instead! Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  8. At our DZ, I'm pretty sure they make you jump it before they sign off on it. Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  9. On the yellow card, it says "Pack w/o asst". If I jump my own pack job and end up on the reserve, will it still count? Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  10. What about people who are ambidextrous? Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  11. Wow. I'm amazed at how few practice jobs most people did. We've had weather issues at our DZ. So, I've packed a bunch of times supervised and unsupervised. Every time I finished, I had an instructor open it up to check it out. The comments are always the same, "I would have jumped it." or "It probably would have opened." When I was practicing this weekend, one of the experienced jumpers walked by and said it looked like I had used an iron to press the canopy after I flaked it. When I finished up, a nearby packer assured me that it was going to open just fine. He was spying on me. So, I put my name on it. I'm ready. I just need the weather to cooperate now! 12. This is sad and pathetic. I know exactly where Kitzmiller is located. I'm originally from Western, MD. Presently, there are no DZs. However, there are plans to open one this summer (June/July) in Garrett County, MD. I am not sure which DZ is closets to Kitzmiller, but I think it might be the one in Chambersburg, PA. Good luck! PM me if you have any questions about the area. My parents are still there and I go back frequently. Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  13. I will gladly pay for the beer - as long as I can deliver it. It would be the perfect excuse for a trip to Australia!
  14. How many times did you practice packing before you jumped your own pack job? Were you nervous of confident? How'd it go? Do you pack for yourself now? Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  15. So...do we just report back here once a week on Friday? Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  16. Count me in. I want to lose 8 lbs before May 31st. Is that possible? Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  17. I love his simple recipes! I enjoyed his "reality" tv show~ what was it called? Fifteen? He selected young chefs and started a new restaurant. Do any of you know how that restaurant is doing? Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  18. September 1st - Jump #7 At the time, our DZ was under construction. I fixated on some wooden stakes in the landing area. Flared fast and hard at 25 feet. Fell straight down. PLF landing, but still broke my right ankle and sprained my left (see attached photo). I managed to land about four feet away from one of the wooden stakes. I couldn't have landed closer if I tried. 19. What does that say about this country and how the children are being raised? Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  20. This is a fine example of one of the problems in our country. We've taught our children to expect a tangible benefit for doing what they should do. Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  21. I agree that guns and alcohol are not the best combination. Regardless of the law, there will still be guns in bars. Unfortunately, they will be carried by people that are willing to break the law. Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  22. I never had the honor of meeting Gus, but express my sincere condolences to his family and friends. The lives he touched will forever be changed. Peace be with you all. Sarah Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  23. There's a time and a place for everything. When your child needs to be nursed, it's time. Hopefully, you're in the right place! I breast fed two children, and managed to do so without flashing anyone. If she was doing it with discretion, no one would have even noticed. Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
  24. Does this mean that all military groups (government paid) are required to have distinct uniforms? Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
