  1. I don't disagree. Due to what I do, I have a healthy hate of "big IT" at the best of times. I see on a daily basis, how well and easily things can be done, but Government and big corporate IT is almost always awful. I just had an image of the pres hunched over a keyboard with a big cup of mountain dew and headphones on. Made me chuckle. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  2. Nope - Obama did it. Not only is he a Kenyan Muslim, he is also a lousy coder. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  3. Hold on - you just said your views would never impact on other peoples rights. Hmmmmm. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  4. And thats fine, you are entitled to your opinion. As long as you understand the majority of the country feel exactly the same about the right, and will be just as resistant to their agenda. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  5. It'll be whoever is red or blue depending on their traditional voting patterns and have absolutely nothing to do with the message. There are plenty of LIV's on both sides. They cancel out. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  6. Interesting point actually. I think the militant atheists are as bad as the over the top (insert chosen religion here) Take Dawkins for example - extremely good evolutionary biologist and writer about the same, however it gets lost in his loony ranting about atheism. Any religion (and I include hardcore atheism in this) is by its very nature exclusionist. And that's fine, except when those people try to make up faith based rules that govern a country. 7. The real root of every leaders disapproval is that they are in a job that the disapprover 'thinks' {s}he can do much better. As demonstrated by the Keyboard Five Star Generals on here during the Bush Admin, as an example?. the difference is anyone really COULD have done better than that tosser Disagree. Read the posts on here from late 2002/early 2003 and you'll see many who 100% agreed with the tosser. And some of them still post here. You obviously misunderestimated him Never try to eat more than you can lift
  8. I'm not convinced the right people have been held to account. This is largely anecdotal through personal experience but would be interested to hear others views. i know (went to university with) a bunch of the guys who were working the trading floors and were most likely the ones shifting the most cash around during this period. They were also relatively senior and experienced, and I would say more likely to play "fast and loose". When it all went belly up, I think the more junior traders got booted, a few scapegoats were made at a senior management level, but these guys actually making the trouble were too damn expensive to get rid of. I was at a wedding a couple of years ago and they were openly joking about some things - made my blood boil. Like I say, completely anecdotal but those closer to the market may have a view. 9. The real root of every leaders disapproval is that they are in a job that the disapprover 'thinks' {s}he can do much better. As demonstrated by the Keyboard Five Star Generals on here during the Bush Admin, as an example? I think that once you find a major objection to a person for whatever reason, that you tend to look even closer and find other things you don't like. Very similar to the reasons people end up divorced. But all of this is besides the point. My original comment was to one of the extreme left wingers on here who tried to suggest the reason some disapprove of Obama has to do with the color of his skin. its naive to think that that isn't the case for SOME, however I would hope that for most that wouldn't be the case. Unfortunately, based on posting history shown, some posters here do clearly show a racial bias. (Gravitymaster, that is NOT aimed at you. We may not agree on a lot but I don't believe you go down that road.) Never try to eat more than you can lift
  10. No it isn't. HTH Stumpy, what I wrote on the post was the following: “The statement that disease is a product of sin is correct but one has to understand that this statement in context within the Christian faith refers to the original sin of Adam in the beginning of time and not the person who is afflicted by the disease.” Please when quoting someone use the complete statement or phrase that they have made. Actually no, in this case it doesn't make any difference whether or not I quoted the second half of your sentence. If you had said "“The statement that disease is a product of sin is correct when its stated as part of interpreting the bible but....." or something along those lines, then I would have been incorrect in snipping the part of the sentence that I did. In this case, you made an absolute statement, and then went on to talk about bible interpretation afterwards. And you are still wrong. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  11. The key words you have missed: "Amongst Conservatives" From the Article you quoted: Didn't miss it at all. But I do think its interesting that the guy had (and has) a negative view of TPers when he free admits that he's never met one, let alone talked to one. Intellectual honesty ftw on that one :) And actually on re-reading I am not sure I made the correct interpretation hence my edit. I'm still not quite sure which way he means it and without reading the original paper (and life is too short on a beautiful sunday!) its hard to know. Slightly poorly written article. 12. No it isn't. HTH Never try to eat more than you can lift
  13. From the Article you quoted: Edited - made an incorrect analysis of this. However, conservatives also less science literate on average than liberals. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  14. Its this sort of thinking that gives us the WBC Never try to eat more than you can lift
  15. Halved their approval rating? Never try to eat more than you can lift
  16. I am all for spending cuts for military or any Government spending. Fair enough, I apologise for lumping you in with some of our other posters. True - then they should have a vote to have the law repealed. Again. Rather than tying it into a hostage situation with the rest of the economy until they get their way. 17. Yep - thats how it works. Tough shit, deal with it. Want to make the rules? Then become the majority by providing better candidates. Republicans tend to complain that Obama hasn't done much in his term, yet its because there is a Republican led congress that he can't get a lot of things through. And if the republicans had won the last election or the one before the bill never would have been passed at all. So what? there are plenty of polls saying people want all the individual provisions, there are polls saying that the favorability is actually going up, despite GOP scaremongering, and there are polls (well - non scientific surveys but you get my point!) saying that people would prefer ACA to Obamacare! Short of it is - this law has followed process fairly, squarely and constitutionally, and the GOP are trying to use fear to derail it. They would be the first to scream and shout and jump up and down in anger and righteous indignation if the situations were reversed, and the democrats "fought the good fight" and refused to pass a CR unless, lets say, military spending underwent a huge cut. 18. You would know. Ooooh - did you learn that response in 2nd grade or 3rd grade? I am just waiting for "and so is your face" to complete the set Never try to eat more than you can lift
  19. Actually no - given that it was a primary tenet of the 2012 presidential race, and the majority of the country voted to keep the authors in power, you are incorrect. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  20. The point is - extremely hard, potentially impossible to do SOLELY by that road. Good summary here. As you said in another post - "it's more complicated than that" http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/10/07/if-we-hit-the-debt-ceiling-can-obama-choose-which-bills-to-pay-2/ I agree with you in that spending needs to be cut, but it needs to be cut everywhere including defence etc. Taxes also need to be raised in some places. 21. Sure - so you would have no problem with an XO authorising a debt ceiling hike. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  22. Sigh. You clearly haven't paid attention that this is the house throwing a tantrum when they can't get their way through standard channels and is holding the country to ransom. they have been called on it and been found wanting, hence the approval rating dropping to around 25%. 23. No Kidding With regards to Larry Klayman, one of the youtube commenters had it right. "The crazy is strong in this one" Presidential ticket 2016? Oh please I hope so.... Never try to eat more than you can lift
  24. The sad thing is - some people on this forum will be parrotting this stuff as fact at some point, as well as defending fox news. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  25. Dammit - its been a while. I obviously need to re-read them. Ah - happy days :-) Never try to eat more than you can lift
