  1. Hey DSE - why you say this? I'm just trying to decide on what to get but have no clear winner. I will prob go with a gopro, but I am not a fan of the form factor. If there is something else coming down the pipe tho.... Never try to eat more than you can lift

  3. I'm of the opinion that most unions were probably started for very noble reasons, but get twisted into something they shouldn't be. They become as bad as the "tyrannical business owners" that they are often set up to combat. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  4. I live about as far from Longmont as I can get but I swear its where I want to go for my next jumping holiday! Never try to eat more than you can lift
  5. ------------------------------------------------------- Let me make this simple for you. When he said Bro- He wasn't talking to you. That's right Andy, when you are posting for the benefit of the far right LIVs, you must write the way they expect! 'Murican "patriots" FTW!!! Never try to eat more than you can lift

  8. I agree with you in principle however yours is really a semantic argument. "Marriage" as far as gay couples are concerned and the recent push for legislation, is synonymous with your "registered domestic relationship". For the vast majority, all they want are exactly the same rights as heterosexual couples, rather than the recognition of any given church. (there are always outliers of course) Never try to eat more than you can lift
  9. Plus - he's getting bad press but the GOP are getting worse. Read the rest of the article. Never try to eat more than you can lift

  15. I'm just impressed that he basically Godwin'd the thread in the title. That's gotta be some sort of record. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  16. In the US - I am on the left, in the rest of the world, the right (with exactly the same opinions!). So on average - slap bang in the middle Never try to eat more than you can lift

  21. I don't know about Ian, but I have done the solution architecture for a number of large government IT projects, although none anywhere near as big as this. Your tech guy is full of shit. How much should it have cost? With: writing the code itself, procuring hardware, building and running the infrastructure, (don't forget you can't just do this once, you need redundancy and backup) managing all the integration points, writing middleware, changing the connecting systems that need to be changed, performing the BA work to define it, defining the system architecture, running unit, system, integration and user testing (where it sounds like they skimped btw!), pen testing, documenting and QA of code and architecture...... .....No idea. But 9 figures is certainly in the ballpark. The way this usually works is a procurement weenie will go out to the market for a price, the market will come back with a price, and the procurement guy will go "too expensive, the public will never accept that, cut it in half" Then everyone is surprised/ shocked/ outraged when it goes over budget and the procurement guy blames the contractor. Fun and games. Never try to eat more than you can lift

  23. Wrong - you always were responsible for this, it came from your taxes. Its just that previously, there was no way for them to be able to help take care of themselves. The ACA (flawed as it may be) goes at least some of the way to ensuring that you don't have to take care of them any more. Aditionally, preventative medicine (which is cheaper and far more effective) becomes accessible to more people, lowering the cost to society as a whole. Without a single payer system, this is the only logical way to proceed - otherwise all you are doing is putting your head in the sand and pretending the problem doesn't exist, or disguising it as something else. Could it/should it have been done better? Sure. But at this point there needs to be a stake in the ground to improve on, and like him or loathe him, I believe in the future Obama will be looked on favorably by the history books for planting that stake. To that extent, some regulations are needed. Not everything Obamacare has done is bad. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  24. There you go confusing freeing up the economy with "the right want's dirty air and dirty water" again. No I don't want a cup of frack water. No I don't want all my essential minerals in one breath. Yes, I would like to start my own business and be able to compete against the major corporations on a level playing field... I think its hilarious that you are using China as a model. Overbearing government and massive intervention in all areas of life, particularly commerce. And you can start your own business and compete, you just have to do it better than them. Capitalism is a bitch huh? Never try to eat more than you can lift
  25. It's just as equally against the right's agenda - they just choose different freedoms. You don't get a free pass on the causes YOU deem to be appropriate. Never try to eat more than you can lift
