I see two shames in this; 1) He will not be sent to the Hell he believes in. 2) He will not realize it because he will simply cease to exist. And you can prove this . . . how? Or is it just your wishful thinking? Occam's razor *is* on Quade's side here. Possibly. His faith is his faith. Why begrudge him that? Do you/they/them really need to control his ideas and thoughts that much? I don't think anyone is suggesting anything of the sort. And if he had kept his faith to himself there would have been no issue. problem is, he inflicted his faith on others and has tried to cause a fair amount of pain to many who didn't deserve it. That sounds like some of the leaders of every religion ever imagined. What makes him so special? Absolutely nothing except the very angry, hateful, personal nature of his protests that went out of their way to impact people, particularly those who were already in mourning. I don't think we are disagreement. (It also sounds like a lot of FOLLOWERS of every religion ever, not just the leaders) There are a lot of people on this forum who would seek to impose their religion on others - their message is essentially the same as Fred Phelps, but without the turn of phrase. The problem comes when they try to legislate to help impose this religion. But I digress. Never try to eat more than you can lift

Tesla is putting in a proprietary charger network that will give you most of a full charge within about 30 minutes. You can currently drive across the country and up and down the east and west coasts charging only from this network. You can also use standard EV chargers, and you can use adapters to use regular outlets (for slow charging) or outlets at RV parks (for faster charging.) Isn't there talk of a battery swap idea as well? (only embryonic at this stage I believe) Never try to eat more than you can lift

I'm sure your speaking from personal experience on the "Ignorance is wonderful" comment. You guys in the UK are worse than the French,..... If I knew I had to go all the way back to Genesis to make my point I would have. It was an AD remark not BC. Get it?? Thanks for proving my point, in so many ways. a) You are still wrong

Apart from the Romans, the Angles, the Saxons, the Vikings, the Danes, the Normans, the French, the Spanish and the Germans? Britain is like catnip to the rest of northern Europe. Beat me to it. That reminded the post just after 9/11 where a poster said something along the lines of "how would you brits know, you have never had to deal with terrorism" Ain't ignorance wonderful? For people like me, wireless is a civil and very public nightmare. The ramifications to our countries defense posture are "Severe." There are limited countermeasures and this is well known to those that plan for this type of thing. Be careful for what you wish for. C Can you explain? Never try to eat more than you can lift

All politics aside, wireless has to be the way to go long term - installing infrastructure (digging up roads, putting in cabinets, etc etc etc) every time there is a lift in technology is a nightmare. Although I had to laugh at the article saying how 20M down and 6M up was sooo slow. Try living in rural NZ Up until a few weeks ago the best you could get in the whole area was 1.4M down and 600k up Never try to eat more than you can lift

Russian legislators approve troop deployment in Ukraine

How about locking people up indefinitely with no charges? I have to say, watching everyone trying to claim moral high ground over the russians here is pretty sad. I'm not saying what they are doing is right, however people in glass houses and all that... Never try to eat more than you can lift -

Don't you regularly criticize other posters for making up their own definitions? Get real. Nothing about them is fascist. Not even close. Using that word makes you look silly. Interesting: " 1. Right Wing: Fascists are fervently against: Marxism, Socialism, Anarchism, Communism, Environmentalism; etc – in essence, they are against the progressive left in total, including moderate lefts (social democrats, etc). Fascism is an extreme right wing ideology, though it can be opportunistic. 2. Nationalism: Fascism places a very strong emphasis on patriotism and nationalism. Criticism of the nation's main ideals, especially war, is lambasted as unpatriotic at best, and treason at worst. State propaganda consistently broadcasts threats of attack, while justifying pre-emptive war. Fascism invariably seeks to instill in its people the warrior mentality: to always be vigilant, wary of strangers and suspicious of foreigners. 3. Hierarchy: Fascist society is ruled by a righteous leader, who is supported by an elite secret vanguard of capitalists. Hierarchy is prevalent throughout all aspects of society – every street, every workplace, every school, will have its local Hitler, part police-informer, part bureaucrat – and society is prepared for war at all times. The absolute power of the social hierarchy prevails over everything, and thus a totalitarian society is formed. Representative government is acceptable only if it can be controlled and regulated, direct democracy (e.g. Communism) is the greatest of all crimes. Any who oppose the social hierarchy of fascism will be imprisoned or executed. 4. Anti-equality: Fascism loathes the principles of economic equality and disdains equality between immigrant and citizen. Some forms of fascism extend the fight against equality into other areas: gender, sexual, minority or religious rights, for example. 5. Religious: Fascism contains a strong amount of reactionary religious beliefs, harking back to times when religion was strict, potent, and pure. Nearly all Fascist societies are Christian, and are supported by Catholic and Protestant churches 6. Capitalist: Fascism does not require revolution to exist in capitalist society: fascists can be elected into office (though their disdain for elections usually means manipulation of the electoral system). They view parliamentary and congressional systems of government to be inefficient and weak, and will do their best to minimize its power over their policy agenda. Fascism exhibits the worst kind of capitalism where corporate power is absolute, and all vestiges of workers' rights are destroyed. 7. War: Fascism is capitalism at the stage of impotent imperialism. War can create markets that would not otherwise exist by wreaking massive devastation on a society, which then requires reconstruction! Fascism can thus "liberate" the survivors, provide huge loans to that society so fascist corporations can begin the process of rebuilding. Voluntarist Ideology: Fascism adopts a certain kind of “voluntarism;” they believe that an act of will, if sufficiently powerful, can make something true. Thus all sorts of ideas about racial inferiority, historical destiny, even physical science, are supported by means of violence, in the belief that they can be made true. It is this sense that Fascism is subjectivist. 8. Anti-Modern: Fascism loathes all kinds of modernism, especially creativity in the arts, whether acting as a mirror for life (where it does not conform to the Fascist ideal), or expressing deviant or innovative points of view. Fascism invariably burns books and victimises artists; artists who do not promote the fascists ideals are seen as “decadent.” Fascism is hostile to broad learning and interest in other cultures, since such pursuits threaten the dominance of fascist myths. The peddling of conspiracy theories is usually substituted for the objective study of history.[37]" I'd say a fair few of those apply. Never try to eat more than you can lift -
Kindle paperwhite or the Kindle app on the iPad...
Stumpy replied to guineapiggie101's topic in The Bonfire
Do it. They are awesome especially if you read a lot (and I do). No eyestrain (it really is like reading paper), month long battery life, storage for thousands of books, small, light, customisable, convenient, and CHEAP! There really isn't much not to like. The only thing that some people have issues with is it being tied largely to Amazon - if you are a huge Barnes and Noble fan or something like that, you might prefer one of its competitors. (Note - this does NOT apply to the kindle fire, that is a tablet and loses a lot of the simplicity and function that makes the kindle great.) If I have friends/family who read a lot and they don't have a kindle, guess what they are usually getting for their next birthday! (and everyone I have ever known who has got them has been absolutely stoked once they had tried it - even those who were self professed technophobes) Never try to eat more than you can lift -
