If you could design the perfect rig...
Stumpy replied to ntrprnr's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Its a good job rig designers don't think like you. Never try to eat more than you can lift -
Pretty much every creature on the planet is selfish by nature. The fact that we can think in an abstract way about what might be good and evil is what makes us human, but i see no reason why that should imply the existense of a deity. Never try to eat more than you can lift

what is the problem - the camera now won't work or you want to try and recover the pictures? or both? If its the first, does it now do this with any memory card? Never try to eat more than you can lift

Hey Caspar - i've just come back from a few days out there and a few jumps with those guys - you won't regret it! Never try to eat more than you can lift

I have the whole album of that stuff, its mainly about the NHS and some of it goes WAAAY below the belt, not for the easily offended!! Never try to eat more than you can lift

no worries! its a bit much for my tastes as well - i just whacked on max saturation and things to show what i meant. What software are you using for RAW conversions? I like Raw Shooter Essentials by picmantec, it does everything i need (and its free!!) Never try to eat more than you can lift

Hows this? (its a really lazy paintshop job but it gives you the idea) If i had the original RAW file i could do a much better job with white balancing and stuff Never try to eat more than you can lift

Weirdly enough, my dad met his new wife on a dating site and he is now very happy so it works for some! I reckon you just have to be very careful deciding who genuinely would like a date and who just want........ something else Never try to eat more than you can lift

A polarising filter will help, but it looks to me like there was some post processing in there as well. Never try to eat more than you can lift

Stumpy replied to meistwer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
NAh we don't (although it would be nice!) This is mountain and molehill territory. Most people get through FS1 without so much as a whimper, and without having to take a second mortgage. There are sometimes FS roadshows and things like that where you can get free coaching and stuff, i think Andy Scott did some last year. Never try to eat more than you can lift -
Why did you start skydiving?

They fooled you with that one too huh?? Damn marketing people!! Never try to eat more than you can lift -

Yes he should. Firstly its the regs here - if he wants to jump here he has to play by them end of story. If he doesn't i suggest he complains to the BPA rather than moaning here and see what they say ( I have a fair idea ) Secondly, if he is as good as you say he is then it should be no problem. 1 jump, finito, finished, done. If he can't, he SHOULD be taking a couple of steps back, get his belly skills up to par because they may save his ass, and help him enjoy skydiving. A 4-point 4-way is NOT serious 4-way, it just shows bare minimum skills. You would be surprised how many people do it like this, quite legally. The point i agree with is that if the french have exactly the same system but its not recognised here, then the BPA should be looking to align with that but thats a whole other kettle of fish. Stumpy replied to meistwer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If your experience is what you say it is then you should be able to pull out a 6 or 7 point 4-way no problem. When i did mine i had 3 people who offred to jump with me (paid their own slots) someone else videod it and the CCI cleared it as he knew the experience level of the jumpers. The whole thing cost me 1 jump ticket on jump 50, after which i was free to do what i liked. I had paid for some coach jumps prior to that as well which were worthwhile. Get to know some of the RW flyers and ask nicely! it makes the world of difference. Hell if i am in the area I will help you get it and pay my own slot. What goes around comes around. And if at the end of the day you feel like a DZ is ripping you off making you pay 4 slots yadda yadda yadda, then vote with your feet and do it somewhere else.! I know exactly what the sv1000 is. I rode the sv650 for a year - that would be MORE than enough as a first ride. My previous comment stands. Never try to eat more than you can lift

So so so true. Sometimes its quite difficult to get off the tourist path but its always worthwhile. Out of the places i've been, favourites were Japan, Argentina, and pretty much all of south east asia but especially borneo (Sarawak and Kalimantan) How about doing some volunteer jobs in a few different places? you quite often have to live with locals and really get to know some places. How much does it cost to insure bikes out there? In this country, after just passing my test if i wanted to buy a litre bike i could afford the bike itself but the insurance would be another matter and for very good reason. You have no business on a 1000cc sportbike 3 weeks after your test. Never try to eat more than you can lift

It's almost time....World Meet 2006, who's it gonna be?

What about the belgians? I have seen Fire, Sinapsi, Odyssey and Hayabusa at close quarters in the last few weeks. Hayabusa have absolutely awesome outright speed, now if they can just tidy up a bit.... Never try to eat more than you can lift -
Can you reach the middle of the bottom of your rig easily? i can just about do it but its a stretch, and i should imagine bigger rigs are even harder. Never try to eat more than you can lift
