  4. I have two problems with the whole thing. First, the numbers. You can't prove them , so please don't pretend to know exactly when things happened. Say something like "We really don't know.It could have been anywhere from 10,000 yrs. to 3 million yrs. The other problem is that all of these things happened some time in the distant past. I should be able to walk outside and see transitional species abounding everywhere. There was a baby recently born with three arms. Could that be one or was that just a freak of nature? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah Good one oh wait, you're not joking are you Never try to eat more than you can lift

  6. I suggest for starters you have a quick look at this: http://www.spie.org/app/education/index.cfm?fuseaction=VideoFormats I think what Stef is asking is how are you able to receive some footage - i.e. can you deal with Mini DV tapes and if so, what format are you on, PAL or NTSC. If you want to play your tapes on a TV this is important. It sounds like you can only deal with computer files which may well limit you somewhat. Might be worth stumping up for a camera so your local videots can firewire you some footage if they feel so inclined and you can learn about the capture part of the process too! Good luck. 7. How about some kind of dimpled balloon to reduce friction on the skin - like a golf ball? Therefore a smaller ballon to create the same speed? Never try to eat more than you can lift

  9. The 18 mm end of that zoom IS wide angle. Forget about the attachments you can get on ebay, fine on a camcorder, rubbish on a stills camera. That 18mm is probably as wide as you need to go for now, and the 18-55 is absolutely fine as a walkabout lens until you know what you want a bit more accurately and have some cash for more really good lenses. Another poster mentioned the 10-22, i'd say its too wide for general everyday use (I know people are jumping them but you are implying you are using it for all sorts?) Hope this helps Dave Never try to eat more than you can lift

  15. ROFL - because the scientific method is how freefly suitability is being measured here?! Give me a break. This is more "I have one and world champ x/y/z has one so it must be the best!!" True but on balance, i'd rather mine was shut because there is always a first time. I have nothing against Javelin, the first rig i used a lot was a javelin, and i find them really comfortable but i would rather they sorted out the main flap first, then it will be right at the top of my list. Last time i jumped with someone who had this happen was a very well known freeflyer with probably more than 10 times as many jumps as me, and he said it just happens. I wasn't going to be the one to tell him he should be on a different size canopy! Never try to eat more than you can lift
  16. Yeah sorry - reply wasn't really aimed at you! Never try to eat more than you can lift
  17. But i have seen more main flaps open on Javelins than any other rig. Apparently they are fixing that this year and a couple of other things but to me they are still playing catch up at the moment. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  18. Incidentally just for information the airspeed boys have been trialling some "rig wraps" so you can wear your actual rig in the tunnel. Not really necessary 99 percent of the time though. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  19. Why don't you have a look at the 2k composites Kryten? http://2kcomposites.com/html/kryten.html Its a similar weight and construction to any of the other bonehead/ 2k/ cookie/ rawa type lids, but because the top platform is bigger, you have more scope for mounting stuff and keeping it accurately centred. 25. Ok all, for editing my own videos, nothing horrendously complicated, just your standard fades and transitions, and sound track overlays, and basic titles, is there anything i am going to miss out by not having premier pro considering is so expensive? Thanks Dave Never try to eat more than you can lift
