Kathleen, I've noticed from your profile you sign. My wife was a child of deaf parents, and she now provides interpreter services through out the state for the Texas Rehabilitation Services. She grosses well into the 6 fixures and because she has a contract with the State of Texas she contracts out 8-16 women that help her provide services from students in school to hospitals, law firms and courts. Big need in the San Antonio area, might look into it. Lic. level one interpreter can earn as much as 18-20 per hour with travel time and level 3 and up earn well over 50 per hour.

No F'n Way: Store Clerk On Trial For Selling Adult Toys
Channman replied to SudsyFist's topic in Speakers Corner
Well this is an interesting story. It was'nt all that many years ago that I served as Foremen on a jury dealing with the same subject. At the time there was a policy that officers could spend 2 weeks in another unit for cross training. A female officer who usually worked traffic took a two week assignment with Vis. She was trained and asked to go into an adult book store were you had to be an adult to purchase a therapeutic device i.e. dilldo. The Cost if I remember was about 57-67 dollars and surely could replace any man, the thing was big. The clerk was required by law to have any individual who may wish to purchase such an item to fill out a form as to why they were making the purchase as well as give them there name and signiture. The officer gave a false name and stated she was making the purchase for medical reasons. I'm not an attorney and don't remember all the details as to the 5 legal reasons you could make the purchase. The store is required to label such items as therapeutic and they could be purchased for Medical reasons with a perscription, therapeutic, law inforcement purposes, and two others I don't remember. Once she made the purchase the cleark was arrested and placed on trail. We the 6 jurors found him inocent because we felt he made a legal sell to an adult above the age of 18. She was informed of the penal code relating to the purchases of adult toys. He in good faith made every effort to conduct the sale in a professional manner and as the law required. The other reason was law enforcement officers were actually making the purchase for law enforcement purposes which in its self was a legal act by the clerk. It is possible the toys in this current case did not meet the requirements per City Code. -
Wipe that silly grin off your face.

With the low deployment altitudes he may need more than good insurance, with one good mal, a burial plan. -
Well I'll argue with him, and let him know his thinking is in the minority. I have several friends serving their second tour over there now who don't think it was'nt worth while. But I appreciate his service to our country.

Make sure he don't jump into the water tank like a tour some years ago.

>If anything, I do hope that those swiftboat lies had enough of an effect to prevent Kerry from being nominated again. "HERE, HERE" A side note, that there fella with the gun? Might inform him that he could get in quite abit of trouble in New York owning one of them things, or is it just New York City?
-
Now that was just plain hurtful, you trying to hurt my feelings. He served 4 - 4 1/2 months in Nam trying to get 3 bandaids and 3 Purple Hearts to get his ass out of there. But like I said, it was a statement to get things juiced up on this here thread. Cheers

John Kerry was a disgrace to the uniform. Now that statement should get this thread going.

>We now know that W and the penquin made up the lie of WMDs... And that is why you have no credibility with me. You surely need to start coming up with new lines. cheers

Well now, I must ponder your questions carefully. I still alittle dizzy, Bill pulled a ropeadope on me that still has me spinning. That Bill is a slippery one. OK to your questions #1, I support the right for descent, and descent can be a good thing only as long as it does'nt get me killed. #2, Torture is effective for getting people to tell you what you want to hear I would agree with you. If it were me I tell you what ever it took to get you to stop. But prosecuting the innocent, propaganda, etc.,...I'm not sure, but are you implying our government is deliberatly torturing innocent folk for propaganda? I thought that only happened in China. I believe we have approved meathods that makes someone very unconfortable such as bind body positions and limits their ability to sleep that has proven to be effective in gathering information. Some of those methods I find to be exceptable in times of war.

Break um down for me like #1? #2? I've had a beating and can't remember your questions. Its that a ringing in my ear or just my cell phone?
-
Your torturing me bill, your torturing me. Stop this madness and agree with me already. Cheers

I need to get a hold of your reading list.

Why do I feel like im getting my head beat into a wall here. Movies may not be a reality, but your smart enough to know what im trying to convey. Movies are stories written by men and women conveying a topic that they must feel in their hearts is worth telling and giving the audience the message they wish to express. The Good Guys in movies typically do not commit rape, mass murder, but do from time to time partake in drinking to much and drugging. But beating the crap out of the rappist, murderer, or drug pusher, and terriorist is a common occurance and is exceptable by the american audience. I don't think this is the number one topic american's are concerned about today. cheers to ya

I thought he did a great job explaining why we are there. It's one of many fronts we are in fighting terrorist. Better there blowing stuff up than here blowing stuff up. However I'm for this fight as you are not. I'm for running to the battle and taking it to them as you are for running away. I'm looking for an un-conditional surrender, while your looking for firm footing. We don't agree on the correct course of attaction, I however have made my bed and will sleep on it soundly knowing that the fight we are in is just. As GQJUMPER puts it, there are brave Men and Women willing to do violence so others can sleep soundly at night. Cheers

>At this point it would be good to point out the difference between fiction and reality. Bill, The only point im making is if we are truely concerned about torture, then why do we play to it and regard it as exceptable in our movie culture. Hollywood is way left of center and they rely on this method of meadding out justisce all to often in movies and TV series. They therefore play to the masses, that this is an exceptable method of gaining information to protect the poor and down trodden. And that sir is reality. Our children look at movies and TV with a mind that is a sponge soaking it all up.

>Virgin? Do they still have those? At our Tavern get together I had me a virgin. Virgin Berban and Coke. I might have misspelled Berban, but my excuss is im a projuct of HISD.

No, A celebration for getting the bad guys. You know the liberals need to hop on to something else, this is getting old, and the american people are not that offended by the so called torture of detainees. Case in point, Man on Fire has an actor cutting the fingers off of a man to get information on a little girl just before putting a bullet through his head. Another scene is were he has placed an explosive device up a dudes ass for additional information prior to walking away and setting the device off. The movie made millions leaving the impression that they had it coming and the punishment was well deserved. I could set here and name the movies and TV shows that show a heavy hand on those who have done a great evil, leaving the viewing saying yep that bastard deserved to get his butt kicked and his/her head blown away. So enough of this torture crap, people eat this *&%^#@ up every day in our movies with no visible outrage, its obvious hollywood believe it's a viable option, Jennifer Gardner will be doing alittle pay back this week to avenge the killing of the father of her baby. I guess you want be asking for the death penalty for her fictional charater. I'll say it again till am blue we're in it to win and if you don't like what you see you can close your eyes. Should GW be given the death penalty? To respond further to this would only get be banded from this site. Oh by the way from your profile Clubbing does'nt sound very nice, could it be you really do like torture.
