  1. thanks for the links guys. i'll look into all of those. "Your scrotum is quite nice" - Skymama www.kjandmegan.com
  2. lately i've been fishing in tournaments and it has been blazing hot, so i bought a couple of long sleeve fishing shirts. one columbia sportwear one is excellent, its so light that it makes my cotton one feel like a heavy wool sweater. i was wondering what else is out there? how abaout pants? last weekend my calves started to burn with just a little exposure to the sun at 101 degrees. are there some good long pants for hot weather? what about a good hat to keep sun off my face as well? i know i could google this stuff, but i would rather hear from peoples' personal experience. something that has caught my eye is the clothes that bear grylls wears on his tv show. he sells them on his website and if the prices are in british pounds and my conversion is correct, the are very inexpensive, does anyone have experience with them? http://www.craghoppers.com/CraghoppersSite/pages/home/default.asp?Rootctgry=BearGrylls&cookie%5Ftest=1 i'm also trying to get to washington again this summer to hike around mt st helens. the route is mostly around 4000 feet and shadeless, so i want stuff tough enough for hiking. 3. i'm highly annoyed that i even know who amy winehouse is. she's ugly as fuck and her music sucks. i would say that i watch too much tv, but i also listen to talk radio a lot and hear about her there as well as see her name on the magic porn box. 4. i'm not knocking carbs, i'm just saying that if i were to own something with a carb, it would be something like a 67 malibu or for some reason i want a late 70's ford truck. these would be project vehicles and not for every day driving. anything that i would buy to drive every day would be too new to have a carb. "Your scrotum is quite nice" - Skymama www.kjandmegan.com
  5. if i had a car with a carb, the last thing i would do to it is convert it to run on something other than gas. of course i would also probably drive it around for fun when the weather was nice. "Your scrotum is quite nice" - Skymama www.kjandmegan.com
  6. i just found a pretty big flaw. according to this epa website http://www.eere.energy.gov/afdc/fuels/natural_gas_locations.html most filling stations are private. that means that i would have to tow this car home and i would be limited to staying close to home. i could go to boise, but i couldn't even go to twin falls. since my wife could get orders to go someplace else at any time, this just isn't a viable option right now. so disappointing too, i would love to pay $1 a gallon for fuel. 7. a 16 hour fill up and lack of filling stations are a huge downside. driving the car from california to here would be a major hurdle. "Your scrotum is quite nice" - Skymama www.kjandmegan.com
  8. natural gas vehicles were brought up in another thread and honestly i have never thought of them as a possibility before. this prompted me to do a little research into the fuel cost. if my numbers are correct, then this is a great alternative to gas. hopefully someone smarter than me can confirm or deny my findings, and i would like to hear from the nay-sayers as well. the way i am billed is cubic feet/100 x billing factor = therms. therms used x rate = total bill. for example, the random bill in front of my says that i used 7400 cubic feet, so (7400/100) x 1.119 x 1.06648 = $88.52. (it actually should be $88.31, but they rounded up to the nearest therm before multiplying by my rate.) over the past two years, my billing factor varies from 1.013 to 1.169, and my rate varies from $.86105 to $1.07285. if the conversion i found on the internet is correct, then 1 gallon is equal to 83 1/3 cubic feet. theoretically, that means that my fuel cost could range from $.7287 to $1.0451 per gallon. in reality, the extremes in my variables don't hit at the same time, so without doing any math, i think my average fuel cost would be around a dollar a gallon. this is phenominal, so what am i missing? why aren't more people demanding this? i realize that road trips would require some serious planning, but we live in rural idaho and have to drive a shitload of highway miles. we have natural gas coming into the house, so if we could get a filling station put in, this would be a great thing. the one website that i looked said it wasn't available in this state, but that may change, or maybe another company does it here. i can't shake the feeling that i'm overlooking some huge downside or my math is flawed somewhere. 9. what i haven't figured out yet is what are my miles per dollar with propane? reading my gas bill, i'm charged for each 100 cubic foot times a billing factor that is just over 1, but varies from month to month. how many cubic feet are in a gallon of lpg? also is natural gas the same as propane, will they both work, and will you get the same mileage with either? 10. that's what i'm hoping. "Your scrotum is quite nice" - Skymama www.kjandmegan.com
  11. ok, now i understand. hopefully our strategic oil reserves hold out just one day longer than the rest of the world's. that also blows my plan to use our oil reserves to flood the market causing speculators to lose their ass. maybe we can run f-22's on little tiny nuclear reactors. the lead shielding doesn't weigh that much does it? that would be awesome if i could fill my tank at home. how many miles do i get per "therm"? i don't know what a therm is, but i pay $1.06648 for each one i use. 12. thanks for the link, you've been very helpful today. i can see my problem already. i've always thought that the center connnector was ground, and evidently its not. i just hope we didn't permenantly fuck up anything with his truck. "Your scrotum is quite nice" - Skymama www.kjandmegan.com
  13. i've got a meter, that's not a problem "Your scrotum is quite nice" - Skymama www.kjandmegan.com
  14. ok, i'm learning something new here. i was unaware that you could fill a natural gas powered car just about anywhere. this is something my wife and i will research and crunch the numbers on. i don't understand where you are coming from in your second statement. can you please elaborate? "Your scrotum is quite nice" - Skymama www.kjandmegan.com
  15. you can fill a natural gas car at any gas station? this is something i did not know. "Your scrotum is quite nice" - Skymama www.kjandmegan.com
  16. it will, but it must be intermittant, or else the lights wouldn't work when we test it. also, there is no problem when the trailer is disconnected, so at least its somewhere we can get to it as opposed to taking it to the dealership. we're going to look for it tonight, and if we can't find anything, we'll rewire the whole thing if we have to. "Your scrotum is quite nice" - Skymama www.kjandmegan.com
  17. i can't buy a natural gas car, there's no place to fill it up. the commute to work for my wife is 30 miles round trip. we could buy a house a couple miles closer, but we wouldn't shave off enough to make it worth while. my wife can't take a motorcycle or a bike to and from work. we can't move to another town to work, the air force tells us where we will live and work. the only option we have is to buy another vehicle, but you can buy a hell of a lot of gas for $10,000 to $15,000. we don't have alternatives here and i suspect that most people don't have that many alternatives. i agree whole heartedly with you that we need to pursue alternatives, but we also need to drill and expand refining capacity because i don't believe alternatives will be widely available until all of the oil is gone. 18. yesterday my friend and i rewired the plug on his utility trailer. it was a basic four wires into an eight pin plug. today he keeps blowing a fuse that takes out his trailer lights and his instrument guages. the fuse blows when he starts up his truck. is there anything we could have done to cause this? if we mis-wired something or there was a dead short to ground somewhere, his lights wouldn't have worked when we checked them. what the hell could be causing this? "Your scrotum is quite nice" - Skymama www.kjandmegan.com
  19. if i were an "oil" company, i would change to an "energy" company and be on the front lines of alternative energy souces, and buy up all of the patents for alternative energy, and then sit on all of the new technology until all of the oil is sucked from the ground. i don't know if oil companies are currently doing this, but i would be surprised if they weren't. 20. you have a deep hatred towards bush and you think everything he says is a lie and everything he does is wrong. i do not agree with you about bush. he's far from perfect, but i don't believe he's the evil villain you think he is. as far as scott mcclellan, i'm reserving my judgement for a while. there will be more people from this administration talking and writing books about what really went on. we'll see what the consensus says. if they agree with mclellan, i'll have no problem admitting i was wrong, but at least i won't have lived the last eight years filled with hate. "Your scrotum is quite nice" - Skymama www.kjandmegan.com
  21. i think you are right. i already see some of the hate being transfered to mccain. its unfortunate. "Your scrotum is quite nice" - Skymama www.kjandmegan.com
  22. mccain isn't bush. mccain doesn't just talk the talk, he walks the walk. That's what you guys said about Bush 8 years ago. Turned out he lied about almost everything. I have no confidence that McCain will be any different. unlike bush, mccain has a senate record that can be checked. you don't have to believe anything he says, you can look at what he has actually done. don't believe me, look for yourself at how much money in earmarks he has asked for for arizona. you can try to take this debate a different direction if you want, but i'm not going to follow you right now. my first post in this thread was a direct response to pork spending mentioned by the op and that is what i'm taking about here. if you care to respond to me concerning that, please do but stop wasting my time you your ever-present bush-bashing. it got old several years ago. So you agree with me about Bush, but just don't like reading it. That's cool. Shows admirable progress. exactly where do you see that i agree with you about bush? 23. i used to work with someone who was very racist. he wanted to kill all minorities, gays, jews, muslims, and everyone else who wasn't a southern white redneck. this guy was filled with so much hate that i often wondered what would happen and he woke up one morning and his personal utopia had been realized. would he then get more and more picky about who he wanted eradicated? hate like that doesn't just disappear. there is a lot of deep hatred toward bush and the administration, so next year when he is no longer president, where will the hate go?
