so are you saying that someone who does not want to perform elective abortions should just disqualify themself from becoming an ob/gyn even though it is only one procedure and a very miniscule part of the field? you also aren't taking into account the fact the it is at least a 12 year journey between highschool and becoming a practicing ob/gyn. how much have you changed in the first 12 years out of highschool? at 18, would you be able to accurately predict what your beliefs will be at 30? setting off down the road to becoming a doctor is a huge decision, and its a little silly to expect the willingness to perform one procedure to even enter into the thought process. lets look at reallity here. meg and i have had this discussion before. we both believe that while the government should make sure the people in this country are taken care of before sending aid to other countries, individuals take on too much liability when trying to help those here as opposed to a third world country. you can donate your time and services to help people and someone is still going to try to sue you. it may be a very small percentage of the people you help that will try to sue, but it only takes one to fuck up your life. unfortunately your services will be much more appreciated in another country. if there is some sort of good samaritan law that protects you from lawsuits while doing charity work, then i would say to help those in the u.s. first. the left has been claiming for years that the economy is bad because there was a republican president and up until two years ago a republican congress. they weren't making a prediction, they were actually saying it was bad when in fact it was good. the economy has its ups and downs, so eventually you will be able to say "see, i told you it was bad". also, the economy isn't about how much money there is, but how much money is moving around. right now there are a couple of big things going on. in the last few years, lending institutions have been loaning money to just about everyone who walked throught the door. that meant that tons of people bought homes that never could afford them before. this employed a lot of people and put a lot of money into the pockets of all the construction trades and all of the businesses that supplied construction materials. builders were making a lot of money, and people were flipping houses and making money. eventually people couldn't pay their mortgages and houses started to forclose, banks stopped lending to people who couldn't afford it, and there was probably some market saturation as well. the bubble burst and now we are dealing with the aftermath. all of that money that was moving around is no longer moving around. the other thing we have is escalating gas prices. you are paying for this twice. first is when you fill your tank, but you pay again when you go to the store to buy anything, especially groceries. this means you and everyone else has fewer dollars to spend on other thing, so instead of moving around, a larger chunk of your money is going to the oil companies. while things aren't exactly great right now, they aren't as bad as many people think they are. we aren't even in a recession yet. we may or may not go into a recession, only time will tell. I think you need to open your mind a little more, Food is an art. Yes taste buds are the final critic, but the whole experience is about trying things and taking in the whole experience. Finer resteraunts usually use different things and actaully prepare the salad just before you eat. the word is nigger. we are all adults and when discussing such things, i think we can use the term. we have no problems saying any number of other foul words, but when it comes to "nigger", people seem to be scared to utter it for some reason. its like in the harry potter books where they refer to the main bad guy as "he who must not be named" or when i was a kid and my brother would run to dad yelling "danny said the f-word". its fucking chilish and if you aren't grown up enough to use the word, you aren'ty grown up enough to participate in the discussion about it. the problem i've found with fine dining is that they do a perfect job of preparing crappy food. salads are usually the worst. i realize that they are trying to be different and sophisticated, but often times the food just doesn't taste good. there are exceptions though, like a perfectly cooked fillet mignon with a good bernaise and a glass of cabernet. i recently flew united and four of four flights were delayed. two mechanical problems, one late crew member, and one weather delay. united sucks balls and i will not fly with them again. fortunately i took everything carry-on. i had a small rolling suitcase that can fit rig, helmet, jumpsuit, and altimeter, and i also had a backpack that was big enough for a laptop. the first thing my wife did was have her first shirt call his first shirt. we also happen to be very good friends with his last first shirt, who just moved to eilson(sp?). i talked to him on the phone earlier and he said that the guy was a pain in his ass from day one and has massive money problems. base security has now taken this over and is going to give him njp and press charges with the civilian police. he old first shirt said he would have pushed for a court marshal. i don't care as long as he spills his guts on how he did it. fortunately base security was able to get enough evidence against this guy to have him charged. we put them in touch with the deputy that took the report and they are going to press charges against him. it really took little effort on our part to find enough info on this guy to determine that it really was him. it sucks that if we didn't do a little investigating he wouldn't have been charged for this. just because what was stolen from us has been returned, doesn't mean there wasn't still a crime committed against us, but anyway its out of our hands now, as i'll explain in a minute. i don'y know what the bank is doing about it. i would suspect that they could try to take the money back from the collections agency, or try to collect from the person who tried to steal it. either way, i'm glad its not me trying to recover from either of those. i don't know how he got our info. we've been telling everyone invlved that our main objective is not so much to fuch this guy, but figure out how he did it so it can't be done again. earlier we were told that we needed to decide whether to have the military prosecute him or have the civilians prosecute him, but not both. security forces then called and said that they have all the proof they need to prove it was him, but they want to punish him "administratively" (i'm assuming that means non-judicial punishment), and they still want him to face charges in civilian court. they then called again saying that they've been in touch with the local sheriff and it is now out of our hands. on the one hand, that is a relief, on the other hand i still want to know how he did it. i just got some good news. the deputy that took the report wants to find and interview the guy himself and then turn things over to the city police and the district attourney. sounds like even if the department doesn't investigate these things, this deputy is going to do the right thing. i'll bet he asked himself "what would aggiedave do?"
