i would think that it would be ok if they just broke, they saved your life and you can get to your reserve now. you may have a cutaway, and it may be spinning, but if you catch it fast, you should be good. i was talking to a rigger about it and he was saying how adding things like the slinks i mentioned earlier would make them bulkier and harder to pack, so i think a fold would be better. maybe you could use the stitching as the weak point. make a fold and put a few lines of thin thread in there that would hold up to a point, but break if it got to a certain load.

SCOTUS says federal law protects LGBTQ workers from discrimination
sfzombie13 replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
i've recently come across the writings of a guy named peter turchin who said that it cycles, and wrote a paper in 2010 that predicted the current political upheaval. it's available for direct download here. it seems the way he did it was to take all the various things that have happened in the past few centuries and put them into a database and looked for patterns. apparently it was pretty accurate, there were a few articles on it not too long ago also. i don't think he meant cycles in the same way though. probably not looking back. -
trump's Disdain for Cadets and US Military
sfzombie13 replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
did you notice that the waiver they signed didn't absolve trump of being sued? i didn't go to the website, but what they showed on the news was that trump's campaign couldn't be sued. i don't know if that applies to not being able to sue trump since he is the sitting potus or since he is part of the trump campaign, but were i a lawyer, i think i would pursue the case. -
you got the doctor to say it's ok, so go. most of the folks at my dz has back pain or have had back surgeries. some have cages around vertebrae. one of the ti's has had a broken tailbone and still slides them in. as long as you can arch and have full range of motion to grab your pilot chute you should be fine. i am not a doctor, but have two herniated discs. i don't know about the weather in france this time of year, but that is what i would be concerned about. students, in the us anyway, are limited to lower winds due to larger canopies with lower wing loads, so i assume it will be the same there.

this is a part of the problem for sure, but the disparity between use of force rules in the military and with law enforcement is outrageous. when i was in a combat zone, i had to wait until fired on to return fire. if threatened, i had to perform several warnings before firing at a vehicle trying to run me over. some of the footage of police reacting to civilians they are supposed to be protecting is sickening. if i could be held to that high of a standard in a place where i expected to be shot at constantly in a country we were at war with, there is no excuse for the same rules to be applied in a place where it is safe.

damn, and i thought i was gonna hold the record for longest time to get my a with just over 22 years. good luck in your journey and welcome back.

i've got an old container i could send you but it didn't come with risers. i'll look and see if we have any sitting around the attic at the dz when i go down today. i was talking with a rigger this weekend about this. i asked about a 2d set of slinks to use for this. have one set like the normally go that are designed to break away at 7 g's and another set that has slack in them to catch when the others break, like maybe double or triple the size but strong enough to handle the extra force. it would bulk up the risers though, maybe that can be worked out.

most of the electorals in states that i have read about are appointed as a reward for party involvement or donations. i have not studied all of them however and i understand that some are held accountable by their states.

i would be ok with the ec if they mandated that it followed the popular vote rather than all or nothing. 60% of the people vote for one candidate then 60% of the ec vote goes that way, rounded of course. i have never yet heard of anyone who has a valid reason to keep it the way it is. i will listen tot he recording sometime maybe, if there is a transcript that would be fantastic, as i can't listen to crap at work. and to markharju: you don't have to explain anything to me, especially the ec and it's failing at anything but oppressing people. i have read your comments in the past and determined that you are not only not worth listening to, it is better to just ignore anything you write.

i just read an article on peter turchin and it was enlightening as hell. it seems this shit did start with reagan as my fiance and i were discussing last night, and it may just go all the way to a revolution. i'm not going anywhere, this is about to get interesting.

this is so much bullshit and has been debunked by anyone who actually reads for hundreds of years. i for one would much rather the VOTERS in large states selecting a president rather than the APPOINTED OFFICIALS anywhere electing one. at least the PEOPLE decide, not the ASS-KISSERS OF A POLITICAL PARTY. name one other reason for the electorate, other than the bullshit you put down about states deciding elections, as that is patently false.

actually, it's a pd 210 at a 0.9 wl with a regular slider and dacron lines. i haven't heard of the oversized slider, thanx for the tip. i will ask about it when i go to the dz this weekend. it opens pretty smoothly though, i don't think i want to mess with it. the shock risers was for when and if i decide to downsize. i just got this one so it will be at least the rest of the year with it to get comfortable.

take walmart out. you can pick and choose. i usually clear them all when i close mine.

clear you browser cache of all cookies starting with wa, then do it with ny. clears out the paywalls of both for a few articles. it leaves the ones you want to keep.

it does exist and i am getting near the age where a hard opening could kill me. i rather like the idea of someone looking into it. it does not make a difference if it rips unevenly or even one side and not the other. it prevents your torn aorta and allows a cutaway and reserve deployment, even if the canopy starts spinning wildly right away. it may induce one to pass out very quickly, but i like that idea much more than just dying right off the bat without getting a chance at all. of course, all this depends on whether it would work or not. even if it weren't cost effective, it would be nice to have the option if i want to pay for it. like an aad.

Is it Time for an Alex Jones reckoning for Donald trump?
sfzombie13 replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
a $20 mil lawsuit could, and most likely would, be settled out of court for a nice little sum, so that could go a long way toward calming the bereaved. -
i would love to know what the REAL number is, both for total infections we have and have had and the mortality rate. there is currently no way to know, because even if we had tested everyone (nowhere close to 15% of us) the fact that some of the tests are up to 50% wrong makes all the data we do have bogus. there is no way to tell how many have been exposed, have had it and lived, and the true mortality rate until we know all the numbers, so not anytime soon.

stupid submit button...

that's because most of them are too stupid to see that all they are fed is a bunch of lies and misleading information. like how bigun mentioned that it was good for us to pull out of that treaty, when clearly it is not. that's how propaganda works, just enough of a truth inside to sound real then repeat it long enough and becomes true, regardless of anything else. i really should stop calling folks stupid when that just makes them defensive, but i am tired of dealing with the fallout from the stupidity and bad choices when i can see the train wreck coming for miles. most vets are bombarded with go talking points their entire careers even though it is illegal as hell. it is hard to counter that with the truth. it clearly takes all kinds, and now i know where you stand on this one. nice to know who is helping destroy the country. thanx guys, you know who you are...

as far as i know, putin has loaned trump over 600 million dollars because nobody else would had has received unprecedented presidential access since then. that is all public knowledge. i have also done some not very nice things in my life and hung out with some nefarious folks, including mobsters and vietnamese gangsters. the only people i have ever heard speak like trump are mobsters, and even they are usually better spoken. given his history and previous interactions, i find it not only very likely that he is a criminal, i find it almost irrefutable, and that is given all the things he has mislead the public about and his double standards playing one branch of the government against the rest. had the gop senators done their duty, we wouldn't be having this discussion. and did you miss the FACT that one of the situations presented at the trial asked whether he would treat one of is own governors with the same threats as he used against ukraine, and lo and behold, he did just that and continues to do so. if you can't look at FACTS and see that he is a criminal, i can't help you and have nothing for you. that doesn't mean i wish you any harm or would treat you with animosity, just that your thoughts and opinions are invalid in the back of my head every time i think of you.

and i learned this well from my vietnam veteran father. he would be ashamed of trump today as should all veterans, but again, it is your right to be wrong. enjoy it.

it's just an opinion, not designed to upset anyone, and it certainly doesn't change how i interact with anyone. i live in wv and the majority here are too stupid to breath, and most support agent orange. i still interact with them, just more of a, "bless their hearts" sort of feeling sorry for them. it is a free country and you are allowed whatever beliefs or ideas you wish, as am i. i am making it my mission to bring politics back to civil discussion in real life. it is an uphill battle where i live.

it's also not hard to understand that the candidate that the russian president wants elected probably isn't the one for the job. i'm sure ukranians are ok with giving away territory and lives after we promised to protect them when they gave up the nukes in '94. and who does it benefit dropping out of the flyover treaty? i'll wait. he needs removed from office now, but i will wait for november. i will come out and say it, anyone who supports trump after knowing what i just said and nothing else is a traitor.
