  1. One thing I've always thought was remarkable was the way the dropzone has people of *really* different cultures and attitudes rubbing shoulders and drinking beer together. I mean, where else do you find law enforcement people, artist-types, college students, folks in the military, nurses, businessmen and retired people all spending time together on the weekends ? It's amazing. Priceless, really. shall
  2. First, get a tuba and 32 ounces of marmalade... shall
  3. Well, here are a couple. shall
  4. "You take the blonde, I'll take the one in the turban." shall
  5. Mountainman, I don't know you, but may I suggest that "stopping for now" is not "stopping forever" ? Lots of us were avid skydivers in our 20s-30s, then set it aside to do other things. For some, it was a family. For others, it was a demanding career. But you know what ? There's always time to come back. The kids will grow up. They'll become autonomous. You may just find yourself scratching around for something interesting to do one day, and stumble across your old skydiving photos. The guy that helped me with my reentry into the sport recently is 72 years old. I'm 50. I'm having just as much fun with this as I did when I was a devil-may-care 20-something ( maybe more fun. the gear is sooo much better !) Anyway, best of luck to you, and we'll see you in a few years, I'm betting ... shall
  6. :2:0 Coupla hop and pops, just for fun. Getting the flick on the recently-acquired gear. Good landings, on-target now. In other news, ordered a custom Sabre-2 this week ! shall
  7. Nahhh.. Just go for all bright green, with an orange dot or something..
  8. I wouldn't want to *do that*.. but I'm sure I'd like the personality of the girl who did shall
  9. Second "The Party." Birdy num-nums ! shall
  10. "Living in Oblivion" with Steve Buscemi "Don't Let Me Die On A Sunday" with Elodie Bouchet (seriously fupped up movie.. kinda why I like it. Oh and it's got Elodie Bouchet in it.. did I mention that?) "Repo Man" with everybody cool in it "Freaks" by Tod Browning That oughta keep ya shall
  11. From Z-Hills ( I think ), late 70s, an all-girl team called the "Cunning Stunts." Our early 4-way "team" with one girl and three guys: "Three Danglers and One Whistler" shall
  12. Congratulations ! That's a great feeling, isn't it ? No more rental gear the size of small safe on your back. No more borrowing strange gear where the legstraps don't particularly fit right. Cheers ! shall
  13. ... and sounds like a '30s gangster movie ! They're lightin' em off here in Nob Hill in ABQ. Cheers ! shall
  14. I genuinely believe in this sort of approach to life. A female skydiving buddy of mine said something long ago that I've tried to live by ever since. She said: "You can't save the world, but you can try to keep your own little corner of it clean." She remains an inspiration to me by the example she set just living her life. Well, 'nuff of that. But I like the sentiments, boinky ! shall
  15. Anywhere in the world ? Hmmm. I had a great couple of weeks in France over Christmas and New Year's a few years ago. Paris was cold, but it was beautiful. I took the train up to Normandy to see some of the D-Day invasion sites. That was great to see, if kind of sobering. There were not too many tourists around at that time of year. Most of the other tourists I encountered were Europeans. It was easy to get into museums and historic buildings -- no lines. The food! Oh the food is incredible there! I'd recommend it, if that sort of place appeals to ya. shall
  16. :2:0 A hop and pop with new (crusty, old) rig. Seems like every third person at the DZ said "Hey, I used to own that rig..." And a 40-second delay just to twist and turn a bit and knock the rust off. shall
  17. He has a duck on his head. The duck says to the psychiatrist, "Get this guy off my ass!"
  18. Tetanus, usually. Sometimes I'm partial to a nice diphtheria series on a summer afternoon...
  19. Oh yeah... I met one of those. Wound up marrying her. It was great for about 13 years. We once drove across the US together. Took a stack of CDs but never put one in the player. It's cool -- and rare -- to connect with someone like that. shall
  20. Ok, color me clueless ( it's the crayon next to "Burnt Orange" ). What website ? If it's not working, then somebody drop me a line, please, and lemme know how to order one of these thingies... Cheers, shall
  21. It's a great feeling, huh ? Congrats! shall
  22. Well, new *old* gear, anyway. Picked up a used, but decent Vector 2 with a PD-210 today. Can't wait to jump it next weekend. Made a jump Saturday on rented gear, as well. First sample of terminal in about a thousand years. I feel tall.. very tall... shall P.S. watched some young hot-dog make an incredible swoop, too. I'd never seen one of those in real-life. Wow. My hat's off to you swoopers !
  23. Well, I didn't want it to sound like I had been a hard-core jumper for nearly 29 years. I started in '76 and was active for 4 years, took a couple of years off, then jumped for 2 years before going on to other things. It'd be a joke to say I had 29 years in the sport !
