  1. When someone that is stalking you tells you that you are in a relationship! Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  2. NO nuff said Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  3. I agree, I am glad that you understand. And while that can be true it is irrelevant as I was making multiple points and not a single point on a single issue. Maybe I didn't, maybe you missed mine. You should quit thinking so two dimensionally and think that everything is about your points and that someone else is incapable of taking it to another level. And to be honest I could care less, it was just a thread to play with. By the way I like people that show such confidence that they hide behind fictitious screen names with empty profiles. Tells you a lot about a person. Stay safe Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  4. No, it is actually a very specific, quantitative, objective and obtainable. Now the reason for asking the question may be vague Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  5. It is about all of it since corporate America is made up of companies that support the industries and by most accepted economic standards $5 billion is not small. And the $5 billion only represents the direct sales and not the companies or industry economic impact as a whole. Guns cause cancer and other health issues? I seem to forget, which constitutional amendment was it that addresses the tobacco industry?
  6. Well since you are a woman and as such clearly could not have a clue as to the subject that all of the men are talking about, the kitchen is probably a good place for you. Could I have my eggs over easy please?
  7. Try this one.....what is the percentage of industries (all) that are over $5 billion? Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  8. Get back to me when you can give non-subjective information to support your position. Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  9. Bwahhhhhhhhhh, why, because you say so? sub-billion dollar companies make up over 90% of "corporate America" and as such they ARE the majority. Take away 90% of corporate America and see what happens. Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  10. You would be surprised I personally know of 4 people within 10 miles of where I live that are in that category and I am not into guns. Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  11. Really, you better check where your information came from because if you took away all of the sub-$5 billion industries in America there would be no "corporate America" left. Well I guess if your livelihood does not depend on it, the importance isn't that much. But I am sure that there are several thousand people that think otherwise and are glad that there are people that don't think like that. Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  12. There, fixed it for you gender basher!. Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  13. To Tom Williams, my prayers are with you. Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  14. Thanks everyone Had a great day and going out for dinner. And to Beezy.......payback! Besides I am still young, just worked over hard and hung up wet. Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  15. Just some information about today’s electronics available for outdoor emergencies. PLB's are almost indestructible and can operate up to 20 hrs. at -40F, waterproof to 16ft for an hour and weights 12 oz. Rescue Strobe Light: waterproof to 200ft, visible to 3 miles, operates for 8 hrs. at -40F and weighs 4oz. Radios can very a lot and like Bill said not all are reliable. I carry a Yaesu VX-7 which allows global communications including direct communication with rescue craft. It is waterproof, operates for about 6 hrs. at -4F and weighs 9.2oz. I use a speaker mike so that I can keep it inside my thermal coat. I have used it in -35F weather with no problems. I have never known a hiker that carrying an extra 12 oz. would make or break a trip. I do know of several instances that occur each year that having a PLB would have made a huge difference. Just as a note to be fair. Today’s GPS/PLB's have only been out for a few years but are rapidly becoming a must have for outdoor adventures. Hope this helps, stay safe, Mike Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  16. Exactly, and there lies the problem. They don't care who it affects as it is all about them. They don't care who dies trying to find them and save them. And I am talking about the Mt. Hood type incident and not skydiving. That is another issue. It is easy to point out the one or two in a million or millions. Rather than trying to make comparisons that don't apply, judge this incident and discipline on it's own merits. The bottom line is that this is occurring more often and clearly requires consistently more high risk SAR resources for something that is easily avoidable. Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  17. Really? Did this result in a 100% fatality rate as the Mt, Hood incident will probably turn out to be? Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  18. I think I know three climbers right now that would probably disagree with you and so would all of the SAR personnel looking for them! And more and more people are carrying the equipment and finding that it is worth the weight and the cost! Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  19. The cost of all three items is less than an AAD which to me is a cheap price to save your life and reduce the risk of others trying to save yours. They take up very little space and add less than 26 oz. And if you think about it the price is cheap compared to the cost of looking for them (probably over a million), loss of life and risk to the SAR responders. I have never really cared about being "cool" when it comes to safety. I personally rather be "found"! Here is some good information on PLB's Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  20. I don't know that I would say it was stupid. I would say that it was a higher risk time of year to go and that they were not as prepared as they could have been and as a result one person has been found dead and it has put tremendous risk to the search and rescue teams looking for them. But this is pretty typical of people that only think of themselves and not how it can affect others. I see this a lot in our sport too. Personally I never climb without a rescue strobe, dual band amateur radio and most importantly a TerraFix GPS personal locator beacon. If they had this equipment the outcome would have been very different. Having a PLB takes the search out of search and rescue. Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  21. Mt. Hood is best climbed between May and July to avoid avalanche danger in early season and rock fall and the Bergschrund in later summer and fall. Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
  22. Unless you are doing it for a practical purpose (ie military, SAR etc) don't do it. It only adds to the complexity of the jump with several unknowns. And like people, all dogs do not like to jump. I developed a suitability and temperament testing syllabus for the military for just this purpose. If the dog does not pass it does not jump. Yes, it takes a special harness to prevent the dog or the handler from getting hurt. That last thing you want on a jump is a 75+lb. dog going after you or pulling all of your handles because it is pawing the air. 23. That looks so cool and fun. have a great time! Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
