I've never done a tandem myself, but I personally love watching tandems at the DZ. It's fun to see them all nervous on the ground getting ready--having that stare during the ride to altitude--and after they land that huge smile they keep for a whole week. I love the trailer ride back and hearing the all the tandems talk incessantly about how much skydiving rocks. After people make so many jumps, they start to lose the awesome rush of that first jump, and I think tandems in a way keep that energy flowing at the DZ. I also think tandems are a fantastic way to share the awesomeness of freefall to others who might not have the dispostion for AFF or even might not be able to afford it. As long as the DZ keeps the right balance with fun jumpers and tandems, I don't see how it could hurt the sport at all.

Any of you guys "swoop" with swings when you were real little?? We'd get as high/fast as we could on the swing, then jump off just as the swing started going up again. If done right, you'd fly pretty far only inches off the ground and have to start running to keep from falling over once you landed.

Hell yeah! What I love is that whenever anyone hears that album, they always think chameleon is sweet and can't wait for the next song. Then they get the jungle!!!!! They just stare at me like, "what the hell is this??"

Man, Head Hunters rocks!, especially Chameleon. I also love Kind of Blue by Miles Davis and Giant Steps by Coltrane. The birdman is just insane, I tried playing Confirmation one time on a mandolin (weird I know) and couldn't get past the first couple lines. I don't consider Jazz an acquired taste . . . I think people start liking it only when they realize what true music is, and that sometimes doesn't happen until later in life.

Hmm let's see here...sideburns to the middle of the tragus......same clothes (sometimes literally) every day (AF blues). Oh yeah we do get casual fridays! Oh wait, that's a uniform too (bdu's). At least we can work out at the gym and not be bothered.....oh wait no we can't, warriors always have their shirts tucked in! (As the numerous signs remind us). It's not as bad as it sounds though. * edit for speling

I'm pretty sure as long as there's no sinus issues you'll be okay. I've jumped with wheezing and coughing before, just gotta make sure not to cough on anyone in front of you. -
Haha yes! I've done the exact same thing as the second pic! We used to use bedsheets, but the poncho's are ZP, so I use those now.

Awesome! Where did you go? The snow up here in CO was sweeeeeeet last weekend. Had to put jumping off for a week though....you can jump all year round though, right?

Free rations?? Ha! We weren't allowed to catch shit, and one whole MRE for a day of hiking over 20 clicks in the mountains at 9K feet with a 40 lb pack...there was a reason we all cut open the wrappers and licked the inside when we were done eating them. Some guys paid 20 bucks for just the entree from those things. Edit: Not to mention the only thing eaten during evasion was ants and a small cup of rice at the checkpoint. Not as bad as marines but when compared w/ civilians yes.

My five year plan pretty much only has two goals: Become an A-10 pilot, and BASE jump with my snowboard.

One tip, if you SCUBA and skydive, it's wise to leave at least a couple days in between. The pressure differences can really mess you up. In the AF they won't let you go to altitude if you recently went SCUBA.
