I have tried packing a spectre like a BASE canopy, and it didn't work too well; from what I was told it was in part due to the spectre being a tapered canopy. I'm sure someone else here will have a much better answer but I do know it's much different.

If not on all jumps we should at least take them on AFF jumps. "ARCH MOTHERFUCKER! ARCH!" Haha yes! BAM!!! I'M SORRY, DID I BREAK YOUR CONCENTRATION???

I think what it comes down to is this: A safe and experienced skydiver went in and it scares the shit out of all of us. People want to know what happened so they can try to prevent it in the future. Yeah that probably comes off as a little pissy and I hope those posting would realize that and shut the hell up and wait for the report to come out. -
You skydive regularly and are complaining about gas? That's like half a jump difference, come on man! And hey, you said you wanted to jump a turbine, I'm just sayin . . .

Just do what the rest of us here in the springs do and go up to Longmont! Otter (at least for another week or two) and a King Air! Sure the drive is twice a long but it's still under 2 hrs, totally worth it.

Call me a nerd, but those planes haven't broken the sound barrier yet, they're just getting close. I'll leave it up to someone else to explain critical mach numbers and whatnot.

You should definitely stay away form lasik. Going to unpressurized high altitudes can mess up your vision and like others have said, it's not good to expose that flap to 120+ mph winds. PRK on the other hand is perfectly fine, that is what they give people with bad vision who want to be fighter pilots. Takes longer to heal but worth it. I'd go PRK, time tested and proven.

I have been trying to order a pair of kombat freefly pants from Matter since last Friday and so far have heard nothing. I even sent two additional emails from their website but still no reply. Can anyone help me out here? Is something wrong with their website?

Well if it helps, I have a Spectre 170 packed into an M2 (a G3). It's a little tough but not that bad at all.

First off, I don't BASE yet, but I am a member of ABP so I do believe I have a small say. Vandev, unwad your panties. ABP made it clear that the primary focus is US national parks and that worldwide efforts come only after all of the local issues have been resolved. In addition, so far the worldwide definition only includes Canada and Australia so your precious Europe is safe. I don't think it matters whether or not you agree with administrative changes or with leadership, bottom line is there is finally a formal organization that is working to expand legal BASE jumping. Every jumper should be supporting the effort, and as I've heard from what happened this month in Utah things have gotten off to a decent start. I wish I could have been at the meeting but I was detained at a nearby Air Force Base. Bottom line is way too many people are whining instead of trying to help. That's just what I've seen so far from my point of view.

It's all a load of BS. I thought things were going fine religiously before, but NOW I, being a christian, am starting to feel infringed upon. It appears that it's okay to persecute/punish christians only. Stop the hatin'!!!

I've never seen 4 people packing one pilot chute for a guy. I have seen 4 guys packing a girls pilot chute for her though. Derek Haha if you're talking about what I think you are, we all had a question about an exposed bridle!! I mean, she might have gotten me to pack a few times for her, but she did give me a few bucks later!!! And by the way, she ended up having a really hard pull on that jump (I think grant ended up doing the final PC pack), although she said my packjob opened beautifully. Okay yes of course girls get treated differently than guy jumpers, especially attractive ones. I mean, it only makes sense. This applies to all other areas of life too.

Yeah something tells me freeflying here is never gonna happen. Now for a much more worthwhile idea: Let non-team members jump the otters on the weekend!! Please? I'm sure there's an easy way to work around all the paperwork . . . "renting the plane" to the pilots who are suddenly "off duty"? Come on, you know you want to . . .

My buddies and I were hangin out late one night in parking lot when a cop came by to see what we were up to. He told us we'd have to leave, due to a city park curfew or whatnot... Conversation turns to me being in the AF, and right before he drove off the cop said that he had been in the navy and jokingly said I should have too. That when I informed him I wasn't homosexual and therefore wouldn't be allowed to! He liked the joke but man the look I got from my buddies! They won't let me talk to cops anymore haha. -
The best B movie is obviously "Crippled Masters"! Hands down! Short summary for those not familiar: "Two men skilled in the arts of Kung-Fu are betrayed by their master and crippled for life, one left with no arms and the other with no legs. Despite their obvious disadvantages, they learn to combine their martial arts skills and seek revenge against the evil master."

So does getting the swoop pond mean wet AFF's? Enough students land over there already, and I'm thinking water being there is just going to attract more of 'em. Well at least when tandems puke and wet their pants we can just send em over to the pond now (haha I was on that load wednesday). Not that I would ever land in the pond by accident or anything . . . . .
