  1. The media does that all the time. It has nothing to do with leaning one way or the other. It's called manipulating info to make a better story. They do it to the benefit and detriment to both sides of the political spectrum.
  2. I was going to edit, because I figured that question would come up. It's not open borders per se. But unrestricted immigration. I don't think our economy can handle it. Not to mention the risk of allowing mass emigration of other cultures into the US. Look at the current riots in France (which I haven't seen a thread about yet for some odd reason....been waiting to see if anyone else mentioned it.) A well organized, systematic immigration policy is good and necessary. But it needs to be controlled and gradual.
  3. Actually..my guess is that Jesus told him to pursue his current policy...not evolutionary biology. That's his loophole and he's sticking to it.
  4. Are you drunk....cause I wish you could type since I don't know what the hell you just said.
  5. My biggest problem with the Libertarian agenda is the open borders policy. That scares the hell out of me, and did way before 9/11.
  6. One caution regarding any steroidal based medicine. You build up physical dependence to steroids and must ween yourself off of them. Your body compensates for the presence of steroids by slowing down your adrenal production. If you suddenly stop taking them, your heart can stop. I was prescribed prednisone for bronchitis once, and only after I was sufficiently hooked, did the doctor fill me in on this little tid bit.
  7. Actually, I did address short term. Build up defenses and security...like our border which has more illegals crossing it now than BEFORE 9/11. Attack the terrorist strong hold (Afghanistan), but DON'T create a new strong hold for them (Iraq). All of those soldiers in Iraq would be much more effective (and safer) on our borders than they are now. Plus their presence on our borders wouldn't piss off the cultures that breed terrorism. Unfortunately, it's too late for that.
  8. I could tell you but I'd have to kill you Hell if I know. All I know is that whatever we may be doing now, it's been getting worse since we started doing it. Probably the ONLY way to IMMEDIATELY address the problem is hunker down defensively and stop pissing people off. Long term...that's a whole other discussion involving things like not supporting dictatorships or govt's that exploit their citizens, and not forcing our will on other nations. Tell me something, what do you think your risk of being killed by a terrorist is compared to say, dying skydiving? If you're that scared of dying that you're willing to kill others, you might not want to get on that plane (or others might not want to get on with you).
  9. That is what I was prescribed to do with it. My prescription actually says "1-2 inhalations 15-30 minutes before exercise, or as needed." But that's me. Ask your doctor
  10. WHAT??!!?? My god, man, what are you saying? AHHHH AHHHHH PANIC!!!!
  11. I wouldn't die for some fuckwit who wants to kill me. But I would to uphold my personal moral code. You can't change your morals based on the situation. If you do, it's not really a moral code, it's a convenience. It is pretty much the definition of selfish it you actually modify your morals to benefit your SELF. I agree that the terrorists are ultimately to blame for the current situation, but blame can be shared, and by stooping to their tactics, we would share some of it.
  12. Please please please don't let either of those witches get their party's nomination.
  13. I'll tell you what. Don't make claims about what I would do under hypothetical situations and I'll do the same for you, deal?
  14. Not true at all. It just comes off as whites making fun of other whites that act black
  15. What possible legitimate reason could there be, considering we have public prisons in Afghanistan, Cuba, and Iraq, to have additional COVERT prisons?
  16. And almost 7 times as many as were killed on 9/11.
  17. I guess you missed the part where I said I agree compromise is necessary between our needs and the environment...but this isn't one. Oh, and when I leave my job using this computer....I'll be walking home. Oh yeah....and I don't have any pets. And the majority of my diet, at least as much as is reasonably convenient considering the Trader Joes and Fresh Fields by my house, consists of environmentally friendly grown and raised foods. I also donate generously to environemental causes such as rain forrest preservation. There are people who do nothing and care not about the environment, there are people who do something to help it, and there are others who would willfully damage the environment because of short term greed. The last category is where I see the ANWR drilling project.
  18. Having secret prisons run by the CIA in foreign countries and hidden from any and all human rights organizations, both foreign and domestic is a horrible thing. It's apparently American policy.
  19. Actually...proventil IS albuterol. Looking at it right now.
  20. No, that's my point. You need an effective distribution system so that when the strain that is spread by people is discovered and a vaccine is developed, it can be distributed quickly and effectively. It appears the current system is ineffective at that for the normal flu vaccine that's been available for months. I'm aware, and the standard response from experts is that it's mostly ineffective.
  21. The biggest thing that worries me about it is Bush stating that he has plans to restrict travel and enforce quarantines with military troops if necessary. I've seen a lot of info saying that any such tactics may delay the spread by a few weeks, but overall, would have virtually no effect on the number or severity of infections. I went by the Eckerd drug store yesterday and they had a sign up that their yearly flu clinic has been cancelled for ALL of their locations due to "circumstances beyond their control" and that if you wanted more details to contact your state's HHS department. There's no shortage this year, but I've read a lot of articles about crappy distribution systems. The only effective strategy to containing a pandemic would be to get vaccinations distributed as widely and as quickly as possible. Anything else is so much fluff.
  22. I never said they should do nothing, but did you see Bush's speach on the subject? He made it sound like it would be Armageddon and was a foregone conclusion. Is it a possibility that we need to prepare for? Yes. Is a 20 minute speach of impending doom beneficial to the nation? I don't think so.
