  1. Its only for the freaks that never take the wingsuit off, or for people truly experiencing big hesitations at pulltime that id recommend getting a wingsuit specific rig with regards to open corners. Having a nice long bridle, and a pilotchute the size of a house will do much more for your openings than the open corners will.. very true, I am a freak.. :P and rarely remove the wingsuit, even when freeflying.. :P you dont need everything Im using, im just kinda fat and fly a really big suit, with a bunch of shit on my head... so go with the above unless your fat like me~ and yeyo~ its kinda funny to see actually... even funnier to see me try to get to the end of the pilot chute when i land to pick it up~ :P Z Flock #11; Muff #1909; PFI #15, USPA Lifer Commercial Multi-Inst. 3. Do this, and ye shall likey be a dead newbee wingsuiter.. no need to say anything other than go jump your ass off, then we'll help. just posing the question makes other people think its acceptable. It would be a very bad experience for you my friend. welcome to skydiving.. go jump~ and you now owe beer for the first dumbest thing ive heard today... gentlemen, the beer light is on~ Z Flock #11; Muff #1909; PFI #15, USPA Lifer Commercial Multi-Inst. 4. You are correct. Because I have the feeling that even if I explained it to you, you would refute its veracity. Therefore, I will e-mail John Sherman for you and have him explain it in detail. When I receive a reply I will post it here. WOW~ Let me start by saying Howdy and Happy holidays to everyone. that being said~ Damn I have to read this stuff more often, It is truly entertaining. Thanks for bringing this up skittles, this is an important subject seeing how many new people wingsuiting is generating these days and the need for us all to understand the importance of what gear we choose to fly. theres two images attached to this post. the first is a photo of my oddesy that has over 2000 wingsuit skydives on it. it has full dynamic corners, and a 10 foot bridle, thats ten feet from pin to pilotchute~. the second is of a brand new Wings with the factory dynamic corners on it that is only a month old. I can say from personal experience that I loved my corners on my oddesy. it felt like all i had to do was flinch a butt cheek and it would come out of the bag. no hesitation. hell ive flown in full flight with my pilot chute in my hand for over 10 seconds to avoid traffic after I started my deployment procdure, and had to do this on more than one occasion; so Id say i have some experience with this. I have also jumped a standard rig with no cut corners and a standard pilot chute in a new SM1, not at all recommended by the way, so listen up~ I see no way, physically possible, both in experience as well as theoretically, (unless your loop is as loose as a whore at a mexican shoe show) that bridle pressure alone can pull out a pin. if your bridle is longer than standard, a minimum of 8', the worst case scenario is that you have to go head down to get enough drag to remove the pilot chute from the burble. once the pilot chute clears the burble and pulls the pin, the resistance on the pilot chute immediately is cut by a factor of ten, for the moment until the bridle becomes taught again and begins to pull the bag out of the container. that momentary reduction in pressure on the pilot chute allows its relative speed to you to increase dramatically, thus showing the pilot chutes inability to "Fall" back into the burble. it is simply physics. it doesnt lie. hell Matt has a photo on the cover of a physics book, so if thats not evidence enough that we are bound by the laws of such, then i dont know what to tell you. it would defy the laws of physics for such a thing to happen. Thats enough on that. I will say that full dynamic corners can lend itself to some horrible and non jumpable pack jobs from packers.. I will also post a photo on here of that~ Short of that, Ill tell you what my new Icon, which is on its way will have. Full dynamic corners, and a 12 foot pin to pilot chute bridle. When I was jumping a standard rig with a standard pilot chute and was getting a consistant 6-8 second pilot chute in tow, at witch point I would go head down to provide enough pressure on the pilot chute while decreasing the size of my burble to the smallest possible size, which did get the pilot chute out of the burble, but provided for an uncomfortable opening. once again, i dont recommend anyone attempt this, im just saying this is how i best found to handle this situation for me in those 4 circumstances. before the next jump on that rig I had the corners cut by a rigger, and there might still be 1/8" still sewn on the corners, and voiala! no problem, even with a standard bridle. im now jumping the same rig with a 12' pilot chute and its wonderful. These are just my thoughts. feel free to try to tell me Im wrong.. Happy ChristmaHanaQuanzica to all, and to all a good jump~ Ill post the pics of my oddesy dynamic corners and the new wings corners, as well as a pic of the new Icon corners (Justin's) as soon as I get them, people at DZs will be sending them soon~ thanks! and the Jump door for the 172 will hopefully be brought by santa~ anyone know where someones got one layin around? :P And mabye a Twinke from Spot? :P Z Flock #11; Muff #1909; PFI #15, USPA Lifer Commercial Multi-Inst. 6. Thats the point i was trying to make bro... Everyone one here is just so serious... relax everyone jump more. and go look at my site or matts if youd like to see a photo of the event... I might not have all those nifty grids, but hey, its pretty clear theres a big ass wingsuit formation flyin thu the sky. so ease up on everyone at the event. let them have their moment.. fly and be happy about it~ I dont know where "the photo" is but I do know where yall can see a bunch of em. have a coke and a smile, and go fly your suit.. I really do love you guys.. believe it or not~ painfully so~ Merry Xmas Scotty, haven't you learned from your own painful experience? Applebees employees are a tad sensitive about their profession. 7. Holy Shit ~ you all have entirely too much time on your hands. I dont come on here very often due to this exact reason. a whole lot of people, WHO DONT JUMP VERY MUCH, and definatly werent at the event because they were, as they stated themselves~ SCARED, voicing an opnion, which they are like assholes, everybody has one any they usually stink~ (Voodew has a double dose these days it seems)~ I mean really guys? I am more than likely one of the most equal oppertunity wingsuiters out there. I continually support all the manufactures at every oppertunity, as well as giving back to the community of wingsuiters with what I do. Jason, Its quite insulting that you think that every photo I took belongs to everyone on the jump. Im glad that you have given back, like many of us have, to groups by giving video and stills to people. good for you. however, your basically saying that photographers, like myself, with well over 2000 wingsuit camera jumps~ shouldnt be compensated? Im sure Matt, Norman and Craig would agree with me that you are single handedly undermining the entire skydiving photography industry. Id like any of you to go on a RW or Freefly jump and see if you get the level of service that you recieve from us when you come on a wingsuit jump. ask em for a picture, see how much they charge. I still love you jason, just sometimes i wanna grab your hair and show you your future~ :P I see alot of newbees on here weighing in. im glad your 100 wingsuit jumps and your lack of an invitation to the event were enough for you to judge everyone that was at this event, that you can only hope to fly with one day to learn more, and mabye be a part of something bigger. I know you all are anxious, but why? it is just skydiving~ however to some of us, this is basically the main part of our lives. Its our passion, we do it almost every day, its what we live for. we eat, drink and sleep wingsuiting. we raise our children in the community, hell mine was concived in an otter on the ramp during flock and dock 1, so were pretty tied into this sport. most of you dont get that. you come out on the weekend, do a couple jumps, and think your kings of the universe. thats cool, nothin wrong with that, but I dont come to your job at applebees and tell you how to serve a beer do I? hell i just tried to be honest to people and some of you know how that wound up at chicks rock~ we dont want to stimulate skydivers to feel that way do we? now, if you dont have at least 1000 wingsuit jumps... shut the fuck up and listen. unless your going to bring something constructive, dont tear into people who worked their asses off. We remember that. Everybody wanted to bring home a picture~ well your welcome. I gave everyone that attended the record a free print, it wasnt much but it was something everyone could put on their wall and say I was a part of something bigger than just me, and a gift from myself and the organizing body of the event. so thats not enough? I should just firewire all my video and stills to 71 people because I had a slot Jason? I dont think so.. I know I worked my ass of in elsinore. all day and most of the nite.. I think thats worth something, dont you? one more thing~ Voodew~ I think you already feel like shit cause you werent there, and you missed us. thats about the only reasons to be as vocal and insulting about something that you werent even present for. I mean whats up? you didnt want to come fly with your friends? I did miss you~ I thought the TWAT boys would be around... beer+keyboard=bad ~ keep that in mind. For everyone else~ Im sorry i felt the need to share my opnion, its a shame that our community, that many of us have been building for years, is turning out like this. I actually thought, that we were a tighter knit community than any other disapline in skydiving, at least thats what a few of us were trying to create, but like a bunch of spoiled children, this is how we act. I do this for love. I give of myself to my community and extended family becuase I love to do it. it makes me feel great when someone new comes and asks if i can jump with them. I love to give back my ideas of what they could do better. not because theyre paying me, or put in a ticket for me, but because I want more people to join us in the wonderful activity we all partake in. However, things like this can really make someone realize just how unappriciated we are.. mabye we should charge out the ass like everyone else does? because if people arent thankful for what theyre given, then what the fuck are you doing it for? I know for sure Im not doing this for myself, and everyone else that was involved in this event to be treated in such a fashion by our entire community. many of you on here have insulted everyone that came from all over the world to be a part of something great. and those of you that are treating us all this way, are just trying to stir the pot. the world is watching. why must you make us all, most importantly, yourselves look like fools. "well by god I wasnt there so it couldnt have happened! Ill have another beer an piss in other peoples wheaties!" Grow the fuck up. if this thread is an indicator of what our "family" in wingsuiting is about, I think Ill go back to the family I left years ago, at least them I can see comin before they try to fuck me~ This is a very disappointing day for me. the day I saw my community Ive put well over 5 years into, for what they really are.. this sucks... you guys should fix this yoursleves... now everybody go do a fucking solo and remember why it is we do this~ then come back and share your thoughts. PS~ Sorry to all of you that this dosent apply to~ none of us should have to listen to so many versions of BS, I know I dont have time for it.. 9. That's exactly the value of freeflying before wingsuiting in my eyes. It gets you used to instability, recovering from it and generally to being other-than-belly-to-earth. Now the information is coming out. So you would recommend doing some freefly to practice instability (not to become proficient at freeflying). So we have: 1] jump more, post less. 2] spend time at the DZ, refer to #1 3] Find a WS instructor that has been doing this for awhile. 4] Buy him beer during #2~ 5] Pay him for Coaching and Instruction, listen, understand, ask questions, 6] refer to # 1. That would be the best thing you can do, along with leaving your laptop at home so you can, well, refer to # 1. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTION FOR SEAT TIME, WEATHER IN THE WINGSUIT OR UNDER CANOPY. Regardless of what kind of skydive your doing, you always have to LAND YOUR CANOPY. and in a wingsuit, even more so with so few jumps, you will be landing in areas you dont want to.. Unless your a pilot and understand navigation, you will make mistakes. that is how you will learn, and unless you plan for that on every jump.; YOU WILL GET VERY HURT Just my opinion. There is no substitution for proper education. if your going to do it, do it right. Z Flock #11; Muff #1909; PFI #15, USPA Lifer Commercial Multi-Inst. 10. It appears that not enough people have DIED doing what we do, for those of you who desire to fly with us~, to learn just how easy it is to have bad things happen. and if you think that your two hundred jumps or the 100 jumps u did prior to putting on a wingsuit gave you enough experience to make the right decision, when you have to, you are sorely wrong. Ive trained people with under just under 200 jumps, and they did fantastic, probably because of who they are, their level of understanding, and the fact that they searched out the best instruction they could, learned everything they could, and then implimented it on a skydive. they did not~ and I repeat, did not, come on DZ.com, tell everybody how bad assed they are, and then ask for their opinion on how to fly a wingsuit. that, along with taking your first wingsuit flight on a base jump, continue to be two of the STUPIDEST things ive ever heard of... it takes a huge lack of self respect, as well as an even larger lack of respect for our community to put yourself at this kind of risk, that when you DO go in, it makes us all look bad.. this isnt directed at anyone imparticular on here, just merely what ive been seeing; and this post seemed as good as any to say my piece. I dont post on here, usually because most people dont really take to heart whats said on here, and its not worth my time or mental effort to tell someone something their not going to listen to. all I can say is learn to not kill yourself skydiving, then come fly a wingsuit... if you dont have the skill set first, it will just make wingsuiting that much more fun for your first few chops... nobody wants to see anyone get hurt, thats why we have rules.. thats why you, and all others, should follow them.. hell if it was up to me, id make it 500 like the UK, cause the flocks are getting bigger, and the skill set of newbees needs to come up as well, cause I sure as hell dont want to get taken out AGAIN like Scott G was. that happens... and we'd like for it not too. the only way around that is better training and situational awareness, which, what was it that comes with again?? oh yeah, EXPERIENCE Blues Scotty If you have to ask what the "work" is, you aint got it figured out yet~ Z Flock #11; Muff #1909; PFI #15, USPA Lifer Commercial Multi-Inst.
