Yep, the weekend was a blast. The ridge run was a site to behold. With Justin needing a seeing eye dog to locate the spot, Spot looking like he was on fire, and Scotty providing a target at breakoff/ deployment, it was a jump to savor. Then having "refreshments" waiting for us at the landing area. The farmer was not a McNasty and let us use his field. I hope the owner enjoys the pictures when he gets them. Jimmy has been a wonderful supporter of HfH. He lends his name to the Jimmy Carter Work Project every year. I have been involved with HfH since '95 and volunteered for 2 JCWPs. I agree with Bill about recovery time. Get Doc's advice to jump. For my anecdotal experience from same injury. One month in hard cast after surgery, one month in walking boot non-weight bearing, one month in walking boot with increased weight bearing till finally one month in shoes. After I could show ortho that I could run, hop, stand one legged only on healed leg did he give me permission to jump. Total time away, 17 weeks. If I could do it over, I might have waited a bit longer. Once you are doing PT, do it faithfully, even once you think you are fully healed. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. Spiral fracture of the fib in Dec '06. Plate and 6 screws and 4 months of pt recovery later, I have almost full range of motion, but no pain. It does enter my mind when landing that if it looks even slightly sketchy, I will PLF instead of the chance of rehurting the ankle. I have worked on improving my landing skill and don't plan on downsizing all that much beyond my current canopy. I am starting to have some tightness in the ankle. The ortho said it could happen. Need to have them take a look and see if the hardware should be removed. He told me that it isn't whether I will get arthritis in the ankle, but when. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. There are alti mount straps that go around the thumb and palm, without the o-ring over the fingers. Other options- a wedge that goes on your chest strap or a bracket that goes on your mudflap. I have a big melon and the Mamba was one of only 2 that fit. The other was the FreeZr. I preferred the Mamba. The face shield locks tight and stayed on when I forgot to close it. Only negative is that the plastic shield gets scratched easily. But the replacement is cheap from BH or a piece can be purchased from a place like Tap Plastic and cut to shape. 50 donations so far.
