  1. Did we drag them into the streets and decapitate them one at a time or was it fratracide? Fratracide is arguably the worst part of war, but it is a fact and it does happen unfortunately. That is immensly different than Al Qiada using mentally ill children as suicide bombers or Sadam filling mass graves with the Kurds. Fratracide is a horrible mistake. To compare those troops to masked jihadists sawing off heads is rediculous. The wedding party you're probably referring to in Afganistan was a tragedy. However, it was never proven by any official or government that innocent civilians were killed. I'm not saying it didn't happen. Just saying you shouldn't believe everything CNN, Fox, or Al Jazeera feed you. Even if those accidental deaths are true, that is hardly "10s of thousands of murdered civilians," as you put it. I did however run across this article about a wedding party being blown up. These are the people we should just let run wild? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15496359/ We will never defeat them so we should just say fuck iit? Maybe if we put our hands over our eyes and sing a song everything will just fix itself. Al Qaida will realize the error of their ways and go find productive jobs in society? Again, based on what? Al Qiada suicide bombers vs Coalition forces trying to stop them. Sadam's genocide vs. a devoloping democracy. Communist hell hole North Korea vs. thriving Republic of South Korea. Nazi Europe vs. free nations. How far back would you like to go? America isn't perfect and we haven't made all the right decision but it boggles my mind that you can't decide between Al Qaida and the US (and apparently any country who feels the same or backs the US). According to defenselink.mil, the total count is slightly over 4,100. Still not good, but again you're wrong and with no sources cited. Define total waste. Maybe you should ask the Iraqi people who are voting in deocratic elections. Maybe the Iraqis enjoy their country now. Once again, how would you know? I've picked your arguments apart with nothing more than a Google search. Do you have any logical or reliable reason for hating this country, because you haven't shown one yet. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  2. You've got to be one of the most dilluted people I've ever heard ramble. 10's of thousands of civilians? The people we kill are usually on the way to a wedding? So 10's of thousands of people are on their way to weddings? What the hell are you talking about? Please cite one reliable source. I assume you think my country deserved to be attacked on 9-11. Why do you defend them and curse us? I assume by your comments that you've been to the middle east. No? Ok, you must have thousands of friends that have served, been home, and killed themselves. No, not that either? Surprising. Out of the hundreds of thousands of veterans, 1221 have cimmitted suicide. I completely agree its very disturbing for solders to feel this is the only way out. However, how many of those were directly linked to their experience over seas? Did you know them or their families? In 2004 (the latest year i could find reliable statistics) 3,613 Canadians killed themselves. Is that because Canada sucks or because they hate hockey? Doubtful. It could possibly be that their problems came from something else entirely. Vietnam was about fighting communism. I agree that war didn't have the outcome we desired but South Korea is still a free country. I've avoided personal attacks hoping for an intelligent conversatoin, but you've done nothing but ramble incoherently. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  3. Military service men and war heroes are not shooting up schools. If America is filled with hate and represents evil, what does the middle east represent? Do you defend them as the model of honorable countries? Suicide bombers, dressing mentally ill kids with explosives, decapitations, mass graves, torture and rape rooms, genocide... and all of that was before the Iraq war was even a concept. Who should be charged with helping those in need? Just because you're half a world away doesn't mean you're absolved from offering help. we were there fighting for South Vietnam and to stop the spread of communism. He was tortured in Hanoi fighting for others lives. It's self sacrifice for the good of others. I wasn't offering to send the USA up to Canada. I said if there was a natural disaster, you know damn well we'd be the first ones there to help. stealing from the people who pay salaries (i assume you mean the stockholders) has nothing to do with spreading a military too thin. Here's a link to a list of Canadian disasters. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canadian_disasters_by_death_toll Shit happens, dude. Hurricanes, earthquakes, wild fires, and tordanos are a fact of nature and they occur all of the world. Less Americans have been killed by natural disasters over the past 100 years than died in the Tsunami of 2004 in the Indian Ocean. Would you like to lecture me on how evil India is? How about Japan's famous earth quakes? Are they also an evil society doomed for failure. I guess if we're all lucky Canada will become the only country left. *** The Columbia shuttle is a precursor to the wasteful Intnl Space Station coming back to earth as a ball of fire, and don't for a minute thin it won't happen. It was designed to eventually do that. I can make prophecies too. The Western hemisphere will soon become very dark and cold. It should happen around 9:00pm. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  4. Cowards like you do not deserve to be in the same sentence as heros who are willing to fight and die for their country. You wouldn't fight for Canada because they only follow us? Bullshit. If Canada decided to take up arms against us would you fight then? Fuck no you wouldn't. He spent 6+ years in agonizing, incomprehensible misery for his country and what he believed in. But I'm sure your skydiving credentials are real impressive. You gotta be shittin me. Whether you agree with his politics or not, mocking someone who was pushed to the limit of human existance for 6 years is despicable. i don't care what you call my country. Who do you think would be the first ones to your door if Canada was attacked? Who do you think would be the first to deliver aid and medical supplies if a natural desaster struck? Yep, the most evil country in the world... us. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  5. Interesting. I think it would be mean and cruel to knowingly have a child with DS. This is the difficult thing. Children with Down's can have a lot of trouble with peer acceptance, behavioral issues, etc. But adults with Down's are typically happy and joyful with life. I know what you're saying here, but that sounds typical of any person. A good friend's baby tested positive for DS in the womb and was born perfectly healthy 8 weeks ago. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  6. I saw a dude trying to do that. Long story short, 2 cypres fires rather than one. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  7. I've been out of the sport for over a year, 17 months since my last jump actually. My main has been stored unpacked and i drag it out every few months just to check the lines and make sure there aren't any critters eating away the fabric. For whatever brain-fart, complacent, ridiculous reason, I never thought to pop the reserve and let it air out as well. This occurred to me about 30 minutes ago while trying to fall asleep. Anyway, I popped the reserve and spread it out across my spare bed. The lines came out fine and the free bag pulled off without a problem. However, the fabric looks exactly like you would expect. Parts of it look normal and parts look like a scrunchy. Has leaving it packed for so long permanently creased the material? Will it work itself out and be safe to jump or is it possible that it's ruined? I did a very quick inspection and there are no holes or tears, just lots of creases. Of course I'll take it to a rigger for a full inspection but that's still a few weeks away. Any quick advice for the concerned? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  8. Great guy who always took the time to teach and have fun with everyone. I still use some of his rediculous quotes on a daily basis. He's very missed. Blue skies, man. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  9. Actually we had an old U-haul that probably hasn't moved since the 60's to store gear and a small trailer for the FJC. Damn, I miss home. I think everyone's whining a lot about this. Times change. Our generation is different than the founders and our kids will be different than us. Big deal. Find a DZ you like or move on to said sports like scuba or drinking. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  10. My shoulders suck from mutiple torn rotators. Skydiving abuses the body in a completely different way than most sports and it may just take some time for your shoulder to adjust. I've never met anyone who isn't a little sore after a full weekend of jumping. That being said, know your limits. If you can make 6-9 jumps and be fine after a day of recovery then I say keep doin what you're doing. If you're layed up for three days after one hop-n-pop then there's probably something more serious to look into. As far as suggestions, I use basic ice and icey-hot on my joints after a full weekend. Stretching is also important for me, especially afterwards. I have no idea what the details of your past are, but I would avoid surgery. Serious reconstruction and 4 months of recovery is a pretty large gamble just to see if you'd be less sore after slamming your body around. Your decision on that one. Like I said, just know your limits. I can't jump more than 6-9 times in a weekend because my sinuses start hurting. That doesn't mean I need surgery. Just means i stop when it hurts. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  11. Some of this has already been mentioned, but here are my humble thoughts. I've only been in the sport for about 3 years and the "way skydiving used to be" stories are about the glory days when skydiving was still a baby. Sport jumping is relatively new when compared to baseball, football, or even flying. We're fortunate enough to literally have the founders still participating. The early days of jumping, as told by the elders, were pretty much a small fraternity of crazy asses making it up as they went along. DZ's were just fields that had a cesna. Being a skydiver made them unique and created a common bond between people with similar personalities. Now a day, anyone can get into the sport. Find a website, enjoy a tandem, call yourself a skydiver. Even when I started jumping several years ago, it seemed like the fraternity was a tight knit group where everyone knew everyone. WFFC is gone, skyride-esque scandals piss everyone off, up jumpers get bumbed for more tandems... the sport has grown like most wanted it to and now people want it to shrink back down to the family feel. I grew up on a small 172 DZ that had the perfect family style. The attitude towards that kind of place tends to be, "only if i have to." People would rather jump from a turbine 5000ft higher, and why wouldn't they? I think Spence is right, you can either have a small family DZ or you can have a large DZ where you're guaranteed to not like someone. Find a small place and enjoy the family or sack up and ignore the folks you dont like at a large DZ. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  12. We're taking three jets up to Scott AFB this weekend and I'm trying to plan some fun things for friday night and saturday. I've never been so i'm sure we'll see the arch and possible the budweiser tour. Anyone have suggestions for places to booze friday night? How are the casinos? Should we rent a car from Scott or try our luck with the trains and busses? Thanks for the help. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

  17. I'm looking for one down around Ixtapa. I tried searching for one, but the sites are either closed or completely in spanish. I almost shit when i saw that a tandem is $2,200 with video. Then I remembered the exchange rate is about 10 pesos to the dollar. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

  19. 0:8:2 Made a trip to Memphis to check out Mullins' place. First time jumping the Super King Air and first time holding head down stable for the whole jump. Zach laughed at me. He said I was a lawn dart, not head down. His Neptune registered 259mph and he couldn't catch me. It got better after that, I swear. The people there were awesome and I hope I can get back soon. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  20. Here's my daughter, or as close to one as I've got... She dressed up for my graduation. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  21. Are we supposed to meet at the Destin Airport in the morning? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  22. My girlfriend will be there laying out on the beach while we jump. I think I'm going to jump in and propose on the beach. Then run back to the plane for another jump. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  23. I still want to hear your story about Walt and his 1000th -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  24. I've always had sinus issues. My ears crackle when I swallow when I'm a little sick or even dehydrated. They're actually doing it right now. The only time I've had an issue when jumping was on my 5th jump of the day several months ago. I felt pressure in my cheecks on the way up but it cleared on its own. After I got under canopy there was an intense pain in my teeth on the right side. It was so bad I had to reach in there to make sure I hadn't knocked them out. I landed and fortunately found some novacaine in my bag. My mom is a dental hygentist and said your sinuses connect to the roots of your teeth and the problem equalizing resulted in some sort of minor blow out kind of thing. I don't know what exactly happened but that was my last jump of the weekend and my teeth hurt for two days. You would probably be ok, but if you have any doubts then don't go. Having your head explode on the way down wouldn't be any fun. And the FAA would never figure out what happened. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  25. This girl and I had been flirting all night and I eventually ended up back at her place. It had been a few days since my last experience so I had plenty of "built up frustration." Long story short (so to speak), I was completely satisfied and half way to sleep... she didn't know we had started. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
