Awesome! Hope to see you and all the competitors there, will miss out on the early morning stuff due to a 15k in Jax but will show up in the afternoon to assist with judging. Should be a great time, looking forward to the first FLCPA at Palatka! Blue Skies Magazine

Jacksonville would be your best bet - about an hour away, not a bad drive. Jax is also small and easy to get in and out of. Blue Skies Magazine

Any Blackberry "Brickbreaker" Addicts here? Post your high score :-)
Kolla replied to masterblaster72's topic in The Bonfire
I was the one that taught you that game.... and then you go and totally put me to shame.... my high score is only 12380. But - did you know that you can use the guns to shoot through the steel bricks? It was a big day when I discovered that! Blue Skies Magazine -

Congrats Ian, to both you and Annie! Wishing you a long and happy life together - really look forward to see you again as my cute little engaged friends! - and Ian, bring Annie down for a FLCPA meet, we'll have her regional rating done in no time at all! Blue ones, Kolla Blue Skies Magazine

Yes, it is a ground launching/speed riding canopy only, the Spire is NOT a skydiving canopy. If you want to jump that type of canopy, use a Velocity (with proper training, skill and all that good stuff) :) The Spire is basically a Velocity, but adapted to ground launching/speed riding. Oh Lee.... Too sad for words. Guess you won't come around PD to demo that Katana for the 100th time now - we will miss you. Brutally honest just the way I like them, and funny as hell too. Brandy, my thoughts are with you. Kolla Blue Skies Magazine

Celebrating the life of Beezy Shaw:11/17/07:Skydive The Farm
Kolla replied to CSpenceFLY's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hey Kristi - I won't make it, but please raise a glass to Beezy for me. Will be thinking of you guys at sunset. Stay safe and tell a lot of stories, and someone better post pictures after the weekend!! Blue ones, Kolla Blue Skies Magazine -
Can't tell just yet - but soon hopefully Blue Skies Magazine

Hey Ted, Well - it really depends on what you want out of the canopy. This thing will come "swoop ready" standard, with 300 HMA lines etc. So - if you are planning on freefall, I would say stick with the standard Velocity, it might fit your all-around needs better. If however, you want a dedicated swoop canopy, the new one is going to be more up your alley. And I guess I can tell you that we won't be calling it a Velo2.... Blue Skies Magazine

Hey Buzi, Another option to go by is to have your rigger/dealer or the manufacturer of the canopy do an inspection and then describe the canopy based on condition. Jump numbers can give you a good baseline to go by, but 500 jumps at a nice grassy DZ in Pennsylvania are a whole another animal when compared to 500 jumps on a canopy in Eloy or Perris. Good luck selling - I like red canopies :) Blue ones, Kolla Blue Skies Magazine

Yep - same thing was said, and will be said, every time we take a step up in performance. There will always be those that get a little ahead of themselves, but we must do what we can to look after each other. With proper coaching & training people are definitely getting to high performance levels faster than ever before - but I REALLY hope that jumpers keep in mind that experience comes over time, not just jump numbers. We will do our best as a manufacturer to educate our dealers & customers about the canopy. Guys like the PD Factory Team & Fastrax will help spread the knowledge. And the PD Factory Team has already brought those canopies to Norway - just a little bit under cover at the time - I'm sure you will see them again next year! Blue Skies Magazine

Hey Ari, I think it's best if you spend a few more jumps with that Navigator, I think your landings are really improving!! All kidding aside, be patient a little while longer, bake me a few more cookies and we will see what happens ;) Bloooos!! kolla Blue Skies Magazine

For now, I think this canopy will pay us back in other ways than direct sales. Every project like this one is an incredible learning experience for the company, that pays us back indirectly when we go to develop other products or materials. For now I think you will see mostly the top pilots flying this canopy and several of them have some form of sponsor relationship with us - so they aren't going to bring us their wallets But, the sport of canopy piloting is gaining momentum, so maybe we will one day manage to make our R&D money back. In the meantime, we will look at it as one of those "pay it forward" things. It helps us continue to learn and helps the guys (and gals) flying the canopy to excel at what they love doing. Might want to keep an eye on the World Cup in Sydney - several of those canopies will be used in that competition (if it ever stops raining ;) ). It is now in final phases of testing and we expect to be ready to introduce it to qualified pilots before too long :) I do want to emphasize that this is a canopy for highly experienced and dedicated canopy pilots - this is not a canopy that we expect to see go mainstream. As you put it - a swoop machine. Blue ones, Kolla Kolbeinsdottir Blue Skies Magazine

Hey millertime, Sorry to hear about your hard openings. Sadly no canopy is immune to hard openings, although the Spectre is more forgiving of minor errors in packing or body position than many. We have a document on PD's website that might help you narrow down possible causes (http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/hrdopn.pdf, see if that might be of help. If not, please don't hesitate to get in touch with PD, we are happy to help! Blue ones, Kolla Kolbeinsdottir Performance Designs.com Blue Skies Magazine

Hey Pops! Thanks for starting this thread - way cool! I agree with you 100%, test jumpers are brilliant people. I have had the good fortune to work with several of them here at PD. On occasion get to pretend to be one myself (under very docile and controlled circumstances of course). That is one reason we are doing the PD sweepstakes, to bring a bit of attention to what those guys do for the sport as a whole. They are cool cats indeed . Blue ones! Kolla Blue Skies Magazine

Hey Ryan, The Fastrax Swoop boys [eh, and Kaz - definitely a lady through and through, but stilll sort of one of the boys..., now quit yelling at me ] are also coming in strong. Isaiah and Scott just put on a fantastic canopy camp at Chicks Rock (Elsinore), from beginners to very advanced pilots. You can find contact details for them on the Fastrax website (http://www.teamfastrax.org/fastraxswoop.aspx). Blue ones, Kolla Blue Skies Magazine

ohhh - meet my new baby http://www.orbea-usa.com/fly.aspx?mid=a300&layout=viewproduct&taxid=534 - and yeah, when I'm done paying for that something that begins with a z and ends with a p would make it look even nicer. You guys have any experience with flashpoint wheels? Remster enjoy your long rides, I'll stick to 50's for now as I have to go run a bunch right after..... Blue Skies Magazine

Wow! Can't believe it either - good for you! Wishing you all the best - when can we expect to see little tykes running around?? Blue Skies Magazine

Hey Douglas! Sounds like we might share an experience on that one. I never got along with the Spectre that well - I don't hate it, but never fell in love with it. I guess I'm just a "9-cell" kind of person
