    Life Coach

my life coaches were my parents ..... looking around today, oarents seem to be MIA in many cases. Not surprising that some need coaching, psyching or policing regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  2. maybe we can add these dz.com classics? breaks for brakes flair for flare regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  3. not sure what you think human rights are or why you think Vietnam has no clue. They are a reasonably successful developing economy that has struggled for decades to rid itself of colonialists and invaders. Once they have assured peace, food , shelter and modestly growing wealth they may decide they want to change their society...... or they may look at the west and think it really isnt much to aspire to. If you focus is on alcohol for long haul flights (9-10 hours +) you will arrive feeling like crap as you will just be helping the dehydration and jet lag. I hope you enjoy your experience in Asia regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  4. gee he must be old....the beautiful country of NZ hosted the world meet back in 1972 (I think). He must have done a lot of work in the previous years to get them up to that stage. What a guy!! regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  5. "And the price of ammo is getting ridiculous. I know people are hoarding the stuff. Supply and demand enters into this. Is that the only reason it is getting so spendy...." The hoarding you talk about must be massive in the US. Here on the other side of the world, I had trouble buying factory 9mm for a competition a couple of weeks ago. The eventual supplying shop said they have had a couple of hundred thousand rounds on order for months, but the majors are apparently struggling to keep up with your domestic demand ATM. regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  6. dont understand.....how would that happen with the snap facing inward toward your body and engaged in a leg strap? Hard to see how a line could get in there. Always a snag hazard with any hardware I guess, but there doesnt seem to be much difference between b12s and the now standard adapters. regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  7. sadly it all the go here as well, and half the clowns never get out of the burbs anyway. Why they need them apart from a fashion statement I dont know. We have also taken to calling fog lights , driving lights. So now people are driving around with two sets of headlights in fine weather very cool regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  8. personally I like oysters, but I cant help thinking about the somewhere back in the mists of time where for the first time someone scraped an oyster off a rock , opened it up and thought ........ mmmm that would be good to eat!! wouldnt be my first reaction without some conditioning .... must have been desperate regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  9. Christina (Chrissy) Amphlett of the Divinyls....an Australian band.....although IIRC Chrissy is an NZer by birth. If you havent heard of them, do yourself a favour and download "I touch myself" and/or "Pleasure and Pain". Gold and man could they turn it on live. The Divinyls and Chrissy in her prime were flat out the most impressive live gig you could go. regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  10. bloke...why do you feel the need to be such a twat? or are you just trolling up a storm? all this stuff is BS, swings and roundabouts will continue to operate and any situation you describe will be different in a year. There are aspects of US life that are great and aspects of OZ life that are great, Neither are definitively better than the other. Besides we all know that most places in Europe crap over both countries............ regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  11. going fast.....well, for me anyway and before all the holier than thou dudley do rights start up.....it was legal where it happened regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was

  13. the open capwells also presented a nice snag hazard while your reserve going out. There were also some hybrid arrangements which used the capwell latch to the riser but replaced the cover and ring with a stiff nylon pull tab. I used these (R2s I think they were called) for a couple years before the 3 ring became available and well accepted, but I dont think R2s ever had widespread use. There were still plenty of capewell rigs about in early square times as well, my first square cutaway was on a borrowed rig with capwells. Interesting with a good spin up. Thank you Mr Booth for coming up with something worlds better. regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  14. respect for America in much of the rest of the world is dead or at least badly wounded, but probably only a small % of Americans care I guess. I hope it improves, I dont think its a healthy situation. regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  15. yeah but your in switzerland....US vs CH.....talk about opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of average physique, let alone someone who is falling fast in the US regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  16. I voted more fair. The do this in Switzerland too, it deters rich idiots who can easily afford standard fines (less than they spend on lunch) from flouting the law. regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was

  19. back in the day our dropzone operator thought they had found a larger aircraft for the cessna (x3) DZ. Everyone is excited as aircraft arrives Saturday morning. Ends up being a Piaggio twin engine thing with pusher props (propellers at rear of engine nacelles, behind the wing) and exit door is forward just behind the pilots Lots of rationalising along the lines of you cant hit the prop as you drop away (yeh, just like people never hit the tail). They actually took a small load up and put out a static liner and a small group. I couldnt believe people would actually do it ( I am so conservative). In the end it was all a flop as the aircraft climbed like a dog and was running the engines over temperature in the process. So, not quite something you couldnt get out of , just something you wouldnt get out of unless you didnt mind exiting in front of large rotating blades. regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  20. just a few comments on Switzerland: military service is no longer mandatory and a civil service option is now available. All the rifle/ammo at home stuff is correct. gun laws are quite liberal, as a foriegner liviing there I was allowed to own an AK47, SKS and bolt action rifles and various pistols. society is generally extremely civil and law abiding. the first expectation is one of honesty. I often had goods and services provided and people were happy to send me a bill later. It was a nice way to live really. gun related deaths are roughly in line with the rest of Europe per capita. Keep in mind there is a very high % of non Swiss residents in Switzerland , so sometimes I wonder what stats are really representing. I am sure the stat loving Swiss know the %'s for foriegners offending, they do have nationality specific rules for gaining (or not) driving licences and gun permits. suicide rate overall is high compared with rest of Europe sadly. No clue of proportion that is gun related and not sure it matters. Re the pistol accuracy discussion. Almost anybody can hit a man sized target at 25 yards with almost any pistol in good condition, given basic training in controlled conditions. Hitting anything in a real life fire fight when you are full of adrenalin and the target actively is trying to kill you is another issue and depends greatly on your training and practice. People see too much crap on the movies. regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  21. getting back to the original question....I dont know your budget but if I had bought a DOM 1991 system in 2009 and planned to jump it for a bit , I would just replace everything that looked the slightest bit secondhand and start in a clean well maintained state. The fact that you are asking seems to indicate you arent comfortable. Just my 20c, regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  22. maybe for the camera gear if its 9 months, also remove all batteries and throw in a few of those moisture absorbing sachets in your packaging regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  23. best round reserve I ever used was the British GQ Protector. It was only 17ft in diameter and a little un-nerving to look at once open...looked too small. Had a low rate of descent and was made out of a very low porosity fabric. The canopy got a bad wrap in my country when a guy severely damaged one and went in as a result. The cause was suspected to be a not as per the manual roll pack of the reserve. regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
  24. I'm sure somebody of more experience will comment on the reliability aspect, but I think that the failure rate of rounds isn't higher than square reserves. Also, those rounds slam you into the ground so hard, I like my legs all not broken. I don't really know howto do a proper PLF like I would need to do on a round. Excellent question though. Im sorry but that statment re rounds pounding you into the ground just isnt so. At 200 lbs I have four round reserve landings in the old days (3 different models) all were gentle enough to have stood up, even though I PLF'd for safety and one less thing to think about. None were anywhere near a bruise let alone a broken leg. Re mal rates I dont really know, my gut tells me the square is probably better. The issue is how much shit are you in landing the result when it does happen. I have seen a guy walk away from a line overed round reserve landing. I havent seen a person land a serious square reserve mal yet....hope not to. regards, Steve the older I get...the better I was
