Speaking of which, when is Cat Aids 2010? I need to get a flight. Saving pussies since 1983, Brett So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983 -
Not to sound pompous but when I am traveling it is typically 1-2 weeks at a time living out of one bag, hitting up to a dozen different cities at a time. I change planes and flights A LOT. I can't afford to have my bag lost when checking it due to changing cities 1-3 times per day. I typically have mtgs scheduled as soon as I'm off the plane, so saving the time from waiting on a bag is important. I carry a computer bag as well which is what i prefer to have under the seat in front of me. My carry on is soft sided so i can squish it in there. I do lots of ironing on the road... I fly ALL the time for work- people are bringing monster bags through security and hogging up sh*t tons of overhead space since the charges went in place, so don't worry about the size of your bag. as long as you get through security, gate check is free. if you don't mind getting your bag checked, volunteer to check it at the gate and make life easier for the few of us that really care about getting overhead space/not checking anything. Blues, Brett Edit: as an FYI, airlines board in different patterns, so back seats don't always guarantee overhead space. http://www.seatguru.com/articles/boarding_procedures.php So there I was... that's awesome! i didnt even look at thr URL, it was an AOL hot search item and that was the first to come up. it was based on a search along these lines: http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=obama+low+approval+rating&aq=0&aqi=g7&aql=&oq=obama+low+&gs_rfai=CHcZo9ik9TIfSJozEiQOP4fjFCQAAAKoEBU_QqcZZ&fp=e3866ac9abe5b5a3 bottom line is his ratings are low, but so are all politicians, so what to do? edit: I was offering anarchy as a tongue in cheek alternative considering the polls are returning very low ratings to basically all political parties. Sorry for not spelling it out sooner. But good for you both for sticking to your standard six-shooter of left wing responses. this was aimed at both sides. So there I was... On realising your alti is broken mid jump , do you ?
BDashe replied to Morne's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My alti froze on my AFF 7 @ 7000 feet. I realized it probably around 5, pulled a little low at the time in the 3.5 range, landed and passed. That was AFF 7. If you're too retarded to make the right decision or not know what the wrong decisions are, please inform me prior to takeoff and I will find another load to join. edit: little harsh i guess, but isn't this covered in FJC? I have about 550 jumps on safires, they open slow which i like, sometimes my slider gets hung up halfway down cuz of the slow opening, same w/an end cell being partially closed. never thrown me into line twists but will sometimes cause an off heading opening. I'll post a vid tonight of a slider hang up this weekend, no big deal. if the openings are hard and this stuff is happening, may be lines, but also be conscious of body position on deployment. saf.2 149 @ 1.6 So there I was... I made a tandem on a TG break in college and was hooked. I then drove to a DZ in nor cal 120 miles away every day for 11 or 12 days straight intending to do big things and get my license while home over winter break. I literally spent 2 weeks driving to and from the DZ to watch clouds go by. I made one AFF jump in that time. Went back to school and drove 250 miles each way every weekend to a DZ for the next two years til i graduated college and moved

Fortunately at my university we had a deferred rush, so pledging didn't start until second semester which left me a full semester to really get to know which fraternity i seemed to fit with best. Now, keep in mind my #1 priority(ies) X number of years ago when I was 18 was who threw the best party(ies), and who had the hottest girls attending said party(ies). go figure, the frat that did so also was the most diverse frat on campus (which I liked), was battling for the highest GPAs amongst the greek system, and had what i believe to be the cooler guys. Basically they worked hard and partied harder and didn't judge which is what I felt, and still feel, I represent... or try to. They also had one of the longest and most, um, arduous pledging periods (our pledging period was "dry," though the house was not) which we still wear with a badge of honor. Fortunately, as I mentioned, I had a full semester to hang out with all the frats and figure all that out for myself. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

Study shows Liberals have different view of basic economics
BDashe replied to loumeinhart's topic in Speakers Corner
Tax increases across the board does not stimulate the economy. If the upper tax bracket stuffs all their money away when new taxes affect them, no one wins. Think big picture, not individuals with lots of money. If the majority of money in america gets locked away and protected... I don't think his prediction of a huge collapse is going to happen, but i'd wager it certainly will prolong the current issues. Then again, laffer is a genius who has studied, created, and implimented modern economic theory... So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983 -

Reagan's delayed tax cuts were the mirror image of President Barack Obama's delayed tax rate increases. For 1981 and 1982 people deferred so much economic activity that real GDP was basically flat (i.e., no growth), and the unemployment rate rose to well over 10%. But at the tax boundary of Jan. 1, 1983 the economy took off like a rocket, with average real growth reaching 7.5% in 1983 and 5.5% in 1984. It has always amazed me how tax cuts don't work until they take effect. Mr. Obama's experience with deferred tax rate increases will be the reverse. The economy will collapse in 2011." Surprise surprise, I was a frat guy, lived in the house for a year, was an officer (and a gentleman?). Yeah, there is a fair amount of drinking going on, but I saw more GDI's (God Damned Independents ) going to the hospital than frat guys. In my experience, MOST of us took our studies very seriously, with several members being on various scholarships as well as magna and suma cum laude grads. We had study hall during pledging as the university required a minimum GPA for A. the pledges as individuals and pledge class as an average to remain part of the organization, and B. the fraternity + its members to keep its charter. I wouldn't have met the dude that got me into skydiving if i hadn't joined (now you REALLY won't want him joining). Which would also mean I wouldn't have the job I do today in software. I still keep in close touch with my entire pledge class, and many members of the fraternity across 7 years of classes. We had some of the best times together, helped me grow up a little. Almost everyone in my pledge class has been successful in the 4 years since we've graduated- private equity, real estate, banking, law school, med school, B-school, and hospitality. Ultimately it made my college experience MUCH better, got some leadership skillz in as an officer, and I have a terrific network around the entire country. Frats have a bad rep from everyone on the outside that was never in one... hmm, weird. The truth is you make great friends, engage in some sophomoric behavior and bond over it, and develop lasting relationships which results in having an excellent network esp. immediately after graduation. Sound like skydiving much? One of my best skydiving buddies was the pres of his frat @ another school (currently doing very well at a reputable consulting firm), we have discussed the parallels of the skydiving community and DZs to frats on many occasions. I still maintain skydiving is a fraternity for people of all ages/races/sexes etc. you gotta learn and go through some shit before youre a regular and make those friendships. If a wind tunnel opened in the DC Metro Area would you use it?
BDashe replied to booyah's topic in The Bonfire
Wind tunnels are my friend, and my wallet's enemy. If I was out there on business (which i am several times per year) I'd hit that shit up. Make it a recirculator, at least 14', and fast as shit please, thank you. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983 -

Start this sentence for me: BLANK are like assholes, everybody has one. Shah quotes (From this thread alone) : sweet mother of god there is no flare! properly trimmed canopy It was too windy so no jump Now to just find a non windy day The wind gusts were well over 30mph. I would love to jump 2 days in a row....but I have class on Saturdays I just scheduled my first jump, AFP, for this Saturday. The one... I had... was suppose to be ZP but you couldn't tell with the way it bleed air. As i would drop it on the packing mat it would just flatten out in a second or two. Also I'm told this rigs liens are actually of correct length thus reduing the need to wrap up any lines before landing. My canopy would deflate almost instantly the weather looks crappy today. And windy tomorrow I was about to leave the office for the DZ but was just informed it was too windy. it was too windy at 15 mph on the ground I had lots of homework to do for class and after that I went out on a date with a hot Arabic chick. Now THAT would be an interesting hookup. Shah and Banesanura. Hmmmm... Agreed. B would eat S alive. Post break-up: B would continue down the path of world domination claiming they were never in a relationship and he should have known better as she was explicitly clear from the first whip crack. She would immediately move on and continue sharing with us the Cliff's Notes of the careening ride of said domination. S would discuss endlessly with people he doesn't know about how his heart is broken and that his left nut no longer functions. Subsequent discussions would include countless varying renditions of "How I am going to mend my broken heart" along with "How I am going to mend my broken ball(s)." Each discussion would supply numerous theories and timelines, all of which will ultimately (and predictably) be eliminated by S due to extenuating circumstances. [/thread drift] So there I was...
