For a while my ex and I had a game of anytime the other was on the phone we would have sex. The game was to see if you could control yourself well enough not to let the person on the phone know and carry on a normal conversation. So I have had many phone calls with family and friends while having sex. Kirk

Something is kind of morbid about that

[reply The pro-track, and the neptune, only store detailed graph data (accessible through paralog or such) for the last 10 dives. I believe that's what he's getting at. Blues, Ian I did not know how many skydives the neptune kept all the data for but the new Alti-Trak will hold all the data for 400 skydives not just the last 10. Kirk

The main difference it has is the interface. Meaning it has an anolog interface verses a digital interface for reading altitude. Kirk

L&B's web site states they will be out fall 2005, so we still have a little while. I would think they are making sure their new products are debugged before release unlike other companies. Kirk
-
Well you are right about L&B not having a devise that has all the same functions at the neptune. As soon as the Alti-Trak is out Alti-2 will not have a product that will do everything it does either. Plus I personally like a analog altimeter verses a digital read out (So I really like the Analog read out on the Alti-trak). It really boils down to a personal choice on brands. L&B has bent over backwards for me so I will always stick with their products. As a side note I know quite a few people that are unhappy with their neptunes. I have yet to talk to anyone that has had a negative experience with L&B. So you choose which ever one you want. I will stick with L&B

It is a semi-common fix for canopies that open too fast. It is kind of a bandaid fix for a poor canopy design as far opennings go. Kirk
-
Have a local rigger put a pocket slider on it. It is a fairly cheap way to slow down the opennings. Kirk

Re: Busted. Have you ever been caught in the "Act"

Way back in high school, I had a cop bust my girlfriend and I in a local hang out spot. Luckily I always had a blanket in the car for just such an occasion so when I saw the spot light we stopped and covered up. He was really cool, he came up to check to see if everything was OK (talked to my girlfriend made sure she was fine) then he left. I have also had another car realized I was getting a BJ while driving. They tried to stay along side of me for a while. Kirk -
It appears to me that what L & B has done is realized that you will either be using the devise as a visual alitimeter or as an audible. L & B have a new product call the Alti-Trak which is a visual Alitmeter with all the recording features. They also have quite a few different audibles too. They are not discontinuing the Pro Trak just adding others to their line up. I guess after see soo many issues with the Neptunes and seeing no problems with L & B products I really am a loyal customer to L & B. Kirk
-
Pro Trak has some limitations however that is why L & B are releasing an entire new line of products. Pro Trak will record any skydive with 6 seconds of freefall or more. I have heard from a few people that the neptune will record part of jump run as part of your jump. Kirk
-
I would seriously doubt that the average person would not be able to figure out and remember how to work the pro trak. If you want to look at the last skydive you just hit the mode button 1111 will flash on the screen then you hold the mode button down till it flashs 2222. Bingo there is your last skydive. Then if you want to change your preset altitudes you hit the mode button again or if you want to scroll back through your skydives you just hit the set button. The menu structure takes a little getting use to but not much. As for batteries, yes they are more expensive but the last about 3 to 4 times as long as the neptune batteries. Kirk
-
If memory serves me right the Pro Track needs 6 seconds of freefall in order to record the skydive. At my DZ it seems to be a split on the ones that own the Neptune, some really like it others hate theirs and have had alot of problem. As for me I am a L & B fan, I currently own a Pro Track and will be ordering their Alti-Trak when it comes out. Kirk

I understand that you may be trying to lighten up this situation, but I do not believe you should. Your arm was trapped in the risers (lets just say that you were able to cut away now you have ball of crap hooked to your arM which will surely have got tangle up in your reserve). I understand you are a newbie but you are lucky to be alive and I really think you should take pause and reflex on the chain of decisions that got you into that situation. We all make mistakes but it seems to me that you (at least here) should take this mistake to heart and really ask yourself a lot of questions instead of just brushing it off. Kirk

Just bringing this thread back up. So anyone received their PHI yet? If so any Pic? Kirk

Landing injuries occur from a variety of issues. Some happen from no flare, to flaring to early to diving the canopy at the ground to build up speed and impacting the ground before pulling out of the dive. The injuries can vary from a bruise, a sprain to a broken leg/ pelvis and up to paralysis or death. Kirk

I guess every time I have purchased something from a private party, I know exactly what I want and the only thing in question is if it is in as good of shape as the seller is saying it is. If it come to me with what appears is alot more jumps then stated I return it since it is not what was agreed upon. Kirk So far every item I have purchase has come out great, which would include three mains, one reserve, pro trak, 5 frappe hats, 2 video camera helmets.

Why do some people have more mal's than others
TALONSKY replied to Zep's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In my limited experience, I have seen a few that are packing errors (did not stow one brake or stowed improperly). I hava also seen a few from gear issues such as wornout velco on the toggles. The other ones have been twisting the wrong way one line twist. I personally never have had a mal Kirk -
One of the benefits to the Coach rating is you get your jumps paid for, also depending on the DZ you can earn some money. The rating is also needed if you plan on becoming a Tandem instructor or a AFF instructor. Kirk

WOW that was one sweet ride. Kirk

For the most part, I am reinvesting most of the money into my house in the form of a hot tub and deck. Kirk

My car started its life with me as a totally ratted out slant 6 barracuda. When I got her, I was 15 and I paid a total of $235 for her. I sent the next year and half fixing her. I have pictures but not digital ones of her first build. I even spent Christmas day of 1986 from 7 AM til 9PM sanding on her to get her ready for color. I truly did not know it would hurt this much to get rid of her. I can't even buy myself anything with the money. God, it feels as if I just ended a long realationship with a girlfriend( inantimaite objects should not be this important) Kirk PS. I ended up buying a crate 360 with a NOS hemi 4 speed (and the got to have pistol grip) with a Dana 60 rear end.

You know, I was fine with it up until the new owner got in and started her. Then I just had to keep telling myself that it was the right choice. Right now I want to work on my house and skydiving so that car just no longer fit. It is totally amazing how an object can become such a part of you. Kirk
