  1. I am sure that is true, yet by the time you buy the camera and add memory your still $100 - $250 cheaper depending on everything. As I stated in my first post I only have one jump on it but so far I see no need for the wide angle lens for the V1 since it still has a wider angle of view than my PC105 with a .5 wide angle lens. Total into my camera with 3 batteries and 512MB memory and switch is $427 Kirk
  2. I took a guy this weekend that was 80. His last jump before this was in 1945 into Berlin. He had some really fun stories about the training back then. Kirk
  3. Here are the overall dimensions of the V1 (W/H/D): 3 15/16" x 2 9/16" x 2 1/5" (99 x 65.2 x 56.9 mm). As far as cost you can pick the camera up on e-bay for $200 to $300 a memory stick depending on size around $90 and lens between $60 to $100 and lastly the LANC remote $45. This option may not be completely cheap but a hell of alot cheaper than a Canon digital rebel Kirk
  4. Since most of us have never seen you fly, I would suggest you talk to the S&TA at your home dropzone. They would be able to help you a lot more than we can. If you stay in the mind set your currently in you will hurt yourself or someone around you, at 200 jumps you have no business being on a highly wing loaded fully elliptical canopy (but then again what do I know, I only had twice as many jumps as you when I started jumping a Crossfire 2 loaded @ 1.85 to 1 and felt way over my head for the first 15 jumps on it) . Oh I am attaching a picture of what I did to myself 2 years ago with my crossfire2 ( back when I thought I knew it all too)
  5. Sounds like a question for the manufacturer. Since it is a self calibrating devise I would say there is a bigger problem with it. Kirk
  6. You can buy wide angle lens for the V1 but as I stated looking at the screen on my PC105 with the .5 wide angle lens and looking at the DSC-V1 screen pointed at the same thing the V1 has a wider angle of view (side to side). Kirk
  7. I was looking for a cheap alternative to a Canon digital Rebel. I know that there has been a few short post about Sony DSC-V1. I purchased one on e-bay for about $240.00 and the remote switch for $45(which is a LANC controller). The DSC-V1 is a 5 mega pixel camera that has been replaced by DSC-V3 which is a 7 mega pixel camera. Anyway, I thought I would give my opinion of the camera. I have only one jump with it but I was able to shoot over 22 pictures in a 50 second skydive. I could have taken a few more pictures if I wanted to so I think as far as speed of picture taking I would say it would be adequate. I did modify the Lanc remote so I could use it as a tongue switch. So far I am very happy with this camera. I also find that the camera has a fairly wide angle on the pics, I have a Sony PC105 witha .5 Wide angle lens and the DSC-V1 has a wider angle lens on it. Kirk
  8. I see what you're saying. I thought the camera config. (as far as placement of cameras) would be similar to mine but I guess not.
  9. If your camera helmet is front heavy move the video camera back further. There will be a point where the camera helmet feels pretty balanced even though it is heavy, Kirk Nice camera equipment just not that sure if I would jump that expensive of gear on that helmet myself
  10. This is the cable you need http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=VMC15FS&Dept=cameras&CategoryName=acc_DIAccessories_i%2eLINKCables Kirk
  11. I have two rigs and use both of them. I have one hooked up at all times to my wingsuit and the other is used for any other kind of skydive. I am a tandem instructor and find on busy weekends if I want to fun jump I usually have 10 minutes or less to get ready. I also use my non-wingsuit rig for my highest performance canopy. Kirk
  12. After reading your profile I am quite sure the reason they are not helping you is they will not send a High Preformance canopy loaded highly to someone of your expierance level Kirk
  13. Everyone I have ever dealt with from PD has been great. The only time I have ever heard anything bad is when someone wants to try a canopy they are not ready for. I know a guy at my DZ tried to get a Vengance demo at 230 jumps and after they call the S&TA, PD just did not return his e-mails. I am not sure what you are looking for or if the above is similar to what you are looking for but in my experiance PD has been great. Kirk
  14. Very true. I had not thought about him being near a tandem. I personally would not let him near a student at his skill level even without a camera. Someone is truely thinking with their head up their arse. Kirk
  15. Just so you may kind of understand, I thought I was unique and special. I went too far too fast and got hurt (different thing swooping), but the leson is still the same no one is that "special (if you push above the normal recommendations for advancement ) ",and if they think they are they will find out differently.
  16. I second everything, everyone else has said. As for "knowing" the dangers, you have no idea of the dangers. Usually everyone thinks they know the dangers until they get in a spot of trouble , then and only then will you truely "know" the dangers. I only hope you live through it and learn. Kirk
  17. I only got to jump a Velocity once a 120 loaded at 1.8 to one. The canopy flyes fast and is really ground hungry. I did a harness turn 180° from 625 AGL and was only about 20 feet too high. Kirk
  18. I think that Infinity is a really great rig. As everyone else has stated they are made great at low cost. I would like to comment on their customer service. Kelly is just incredible, I bought an Infinity and about 6 month after buying it I noticed my secondary riser covers were not a rigid as they were new and so I contacted Kelly on it. I shipped my rig up to him and he fixed it,repacked my reserve (since it was due) and shipped it back to me in one week for free. As for the standard facing pin protection, I personally like the fact that I can pick up my rig by that back cover and it will not open(try that with the up facing pin protection). Oh just in case you are wondering the issue with the riser covers was not anything they did, just that Kelly got a batch of balistic material (a more rigid material) that went soft. Kirk
  19. The best place to get the correct answer is to call PD and ask. When I demo'd a PDR 143 it came on risers but with no d-bag or pilot chute. As for the paying shipping both ways I believe I paid between 20 and 40 for the demo and had to pay shipping back. Kirk
  20. I have $150,000 coverage and pay $25.00 a month for it(They only go up to $150,000 of coverage on a person). The only exclusion the policy has is suicide. The company is Great West Kirk
  21. Well I would assume part of it is they are made of F111 instead of ZP.
  22. Just my opinion but you would be much better off just slowly piecing together a setup that is much newer, better and ALOT lighter. Generally, I personally look at the idea of up grading and using some components later (such as my first setup was a Sidewinder and a PC105, now I have a flat top pro with the PC105 on it) but with that setup nothing could be used for anything other than a paper weight. Kirk
  23. Or 230 plus pound women. There is nothing like hooking up to someone who has the harness near maxed out on all adjustments to make you never want to eat again or just plan go get sick.
  24. I have attached a chart Kirk
  25. Something to really think about is skydiving rigs have two canopies in them, so if the first one does not deploy into a good canopy it can be cut away and the reserve can be flown down. Skydiving is a dangerous sport but so many things in our lives are dangerous, and how many other places in life do you have two chances to get it right. Oh and even though it is a possiblity to have the main canopy malfunction it does not happen very often (numbers will very per person) but out of my 1014 skydives and 220 tandems I have never used my reserve canopy. The door way is difficult at first and the fear can make it almost impossible to breath but right outside that door is true bliss. Kirk
