  1. Since it's still Christmas in California, I'll give you a break. At 0º C, adding heat to ice (i.e., solid H2O) can generally be expected to induce melting. The resulting water (i.e., liquid H2O) can generally be expected to remain at 0º C while it is adjacent to the ice. The assertion that adding heat always results in an increase in temperature is incorrect. Merry Christmas, Counselor.

  3. Do you feel compelled to offer pro bono legal advice to anyone who has a question or misunderstanding regarding law? No. I also don't say, "you don't know what you are talking about. Don't argue with me, though. I'm a lawyer." There is another difference - the laws of physics are the same in Chicago as Fresno. The statutory and case laws are not the same. So, if I say, "You're wrong. Dead people's votes won't be counted" I'd be correct in Fresno. Chicago, though... I reckon you see a difference between "you're wrong, and wrong again and don't disagree because I'm a lawyer" and "you are not correct because while an income tax was unconstitutional, such unconstitutionality was curesd by amendment." The latter provides context and explanation for my position - more than simply, "wrong." You realize that why mnealtx was wrong had already been explained earlier in the thread, before Kallend made the post to which you replied, right? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! 4. This sounds interesting! Nearly 62 years after researchers at Bell Labs demonstrated the first functional transistor, scientists say they have made another major breakthrough. Researchers showed the first functional transistor made from a single molecule. The transistor, which has a benzene molecule attached to gold contacts, could behave just like a silicon transistor. The molecule’s different energy states can be manipulated by varying the voltage applied to it through the contacts. And by manipulating the energy states, researchers were able to control the current passing through it. … Full Article Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  9. Clearly, you are unfamiliar with the business aspect of trafficking. I apologize for not presenting my argument in the oversimplified manner that you seem to require for understanding. Well, you're only about 100% off on your read of me. I'm speaking from a position of formal education and extensive personal experience. Yeah, removing trash from dumpsters to dig through stuff below sure cleans things up. You seem to have an irrational bias against drug users and are attempting to assign to them undesirable characteristics without consideration of whether or not they actually deserve it. Thanks for making it obvious that you are clueless about the behavior of pot smokers! Another clueless statement from you. Allow me to clue you in on the characteristics of pot smokers. They exist in all walks of life. Some are rich. Some are poor. Some are young; some are old. Some are well educated; others aren't. Some are conservative; some are liberal. Some are neat freaks; some are slobs. Some are gainfully employed; others are not. Some wear a suit and tie to work; some wear shorts and flip-flops (still others wear uniforms, including military). Some have long hair; some have business or military style haircuts. Some are very health conscious; others sustain themselves on fast food and soda. In my experience, the only thing that all pot smokers have in common is that they all smoke pot. Forgive me for laughing about how clueless you are on this topic. It appears that anytime you see behavior from anyone different from you, you assume they are smoking pot and that is the cause of their behavior. I would not be surprised if this is something you do to rationalize spending so much energy enforcing the drug laws that have cause so much harm to this country. Keep it up. You're making it apparent to everyone that you know nothing about pot smokers. Do you really believe that pot isn't smoked in affluent neighborhoods? Give me a break. ***Nope, all you have to do is separate the arrests of possession and distribution out of the rest and compare. You still see an increase over the signal to noise ratio, you got increased crime. Wrong again, that isn't "all you have to do." Many other factors must also be considered. I get it. Anything that is less desirable to you is "ruined." How tolerant of you. Further, you seem to blame anything you deem to be undesirable on drugs, without justification. I'm not going to do your research for you. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you are aware that enough government anti-drug propaganda has been debunked as to call into question their credibility on the subject (to say the least). It isn't me that needs to do my homework. Here is a good place for you to start. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  16. Right, but those possible penalties (e.g., penalty for income tax evasion) have nothing to do with this bill. They won't change without being explicitly changed with legislation. Bringing it up amounts to a red herring. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  17. Nope, sure didn't. If they had meant civil penalties only, they would have put language stating that. If the bill provided criminal penalties, there would be a section addressing them, just as there is for civil penalties. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  18. Did you see the heading of the part you quoated? "CIVIL PENALTY" Did you find a heading titled "CRIMINAL PENALTY" in the bill? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  19. You do realize that civil penalties are not criminal penalties, right? In other words, you don't have to worry about anyone slapping handcuffs on you just for not buying insurance. The excerpt of the bill you provided offers no threat of force. Just because I can read the Constitution does not make me a lawyer. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! 20. That would be the taxes I referred to, the taxes Congress can collect under the power granted to them in Article 2, §8. I haven't heard about Congress wanting to send people to jail for not having insurance. Can you link to the section of the bill that explains that? Like I asked above, what handcuffs? 21. Corrected to reflect my argument rather than your strawman. Incorrect. I am saying that the profit on the supply side is derived from the risk associated with trafficking an illegal substance. Legalize the substance, and the risk, and consequently the profit, goes away for distribution of cannabis. Once again, the commercial grade (i.e. low quality) outdoor grown, seedy bud that Mexico imports is not what the dispensaries are selling. So you'll try to educate yourself? Good. It was implied in my statement. Never mind; it's a tangent, anyway. That reality doesn't coincide with the propaganda you've apparently bought into is not indicative of "an unhealthy attraction to a substance." When you come to understand that, you might be able to explore the topic objectively. That you spent half your career helping enforce the very laws that are causing so much damage to this country explains a lot w/r/t to your posts in this thread. In your previous post, all you did was demonstrate that you are unable to distinguish between littering and smoking pot. Bullshit. Pot smoking does not affect the appearance of neighborhoods. Bullshit. Pot is smoked in affluent neighborhoods as much as it's smoked in poor neighborhoods. You're confusing the effects of the drugs with the effects of the drug laws. The drug laws are what cause the crime and violence so often (erroneously) associated with drugs. Please, name some beaches that have been ruined by pot smoking. You seem to have a vivid imagination when it comes to the effects of smoking pot. Realize that those effects are not based in reality. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! 22. Id did do that. If you choose to ignore the explanation, there's not much point in discussing it. By all means, quote out the language that demands that I buy a single damn thing, because the 'general welfare' clause ISN'T it. All they need to do is pass a tax and a tax credit, which they can do via the general welfare clause. You are not forced to enter into any contract; you just don't get to take advantage of the tax credit if you don't. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  24. Still waiting on you to show me where Congress can mandate that I have to buy anything. I did, Article 1, §8, via the General Welfare clause. I also told you how they could do it, via taxes and tax credits. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  25. Check out the General Welfare clause of Article 1, Section eight of the Constitution. Nope. There is NO authority for congress to FORCE me into a financial contract. Not in Article 1, not in the Commerce Clause - nowhere. They can tax you for health care and offer an income tax credit on health insurance premiums with their Constitutionally granted powers. They can tax - maybe you can point out where it speaks of tax credits in the Article, I can't seem to find it. Regardless, there's nothing in the article that says they can MANDATE that I enter into any sort of financial contract. Perhaps you missed Amendment 16, which amends/clarifies that clause: "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration." So, no, your argument doesn't withstand scrutiny. Perhaps YOU missed that I did not mention taxes in talking about the unconstitutionality of the bill. Nice backpedal. Math tutoring available.
