  1. No, I'm waiting for all of the variables besides the one he wants to be provided as given information. I'm sorry you were unable to comprehend that. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  2. That's pretty much how I would describe the difference between the two. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  3. I respectfully disagree. There's no question that profiling creates vulnerabilities. You've offered examples of one such vulnerability being exploited (e.g., training young girls as bombers). What I would consider a policy issue is whether or not the benefits of profiling outweigh the negative characteristics and effects of profiling and whether or not to implement profiling after considering the positives and negatives. 4. It can be the difference between a bruised ego and broken bones. To the OP: I would recommend keeping the loading on both the main and reserve to below 1 lb. per sq. foot. The rig you are considering sounds just a little bit too small for your experience level. Remember, when you are purchasing gear you should consider not only the jumps on which things are going right, but also (and more heavily) the jumps on which everything is going wrong. I'm not intending to imply anything about the "gear manager" at Skydive Deland, but, in general, if someone is trying to sell you a particular piece of used gear, take their recommendations (w/r/t suitability) with a grain of salt; seek advice from instructors and S&TA's to supplement such recommendations. 5. Wrong. USPS has consistently operated in the black in recent decades. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  6. Preaching to me about irrelevance after your last post is a textbook example of the pot calling the kettle black. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  7. Don't be so sure about that. Cannabis intoxication does not impair driving ability like alcohol intoxication does. I've posted on the topic previously here and here with links to sources. You need some qualifiers to that broad brush. I guarantee a person can smoke enough pot to pass right fucking out at the wheel - much less impair their driving. True, the two substances impair in a different way, (interesting to note however that both are depressants - alcohol and canabinol), but at sufficient intake - they both impair. I'm guessing that you didn't read the posts or the links contained therein. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  8. I expect you to shut up about as much as I expect you to keep your word about flying to Florida to buy me a drink. In other words, I don't expect it at all. You are asking your question in a manner that doesn't allow an accurate answer, much like if I were to ask you, "How many degrees is it?" Try a definite version of your question. 9. Do you really not understand the difference between gross and net, or are you just posting contrarily for fun? If you really are that ignorant about the words' meanings, please say so; I'll be happy to explain the difference to you. So, it's not a significant limitation because the banks follow the usury laws and are doing okay? One only needs to consider how banks have found loopholes in such laws in the credit card industry to understand that the banks, not just Louie, will charge extremely high interest rates if given the opportunity. 10. Did you even read the post to which I linked? The cost of the deficit was figured into the expense, and it was still much cheaper. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  11. I did that already. I even linked to the actual US Code provision. Usury laws limit the gross profit a lender can make, which effectively limits the net profit, since net profit is less than gross profit. Testing your assertion, all I need to do to prove it inaccurate is to find a single fund that is invested in a bank operating in a state with usury laws. How hard do you think it would be to do that? By what math are you basing such a statement? Usury laws limit profit; they don't prohibit profit. You don't say. No, you really don't. You asked for an example of a law that limited profit and saved consumers money. I provided usury laws as just such laws. Whether or not there are other industries that are more profitable than banking is completely irrelevant. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  12. Applicable laws vary from state to state. Neither of your statements is true in Florida. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  13. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that it's profitable to remove them and the cost can be passed on to insurance companies. Perhaps you should inform him about best practices w/r/t cancer screenings, since you are obviously so much better informed than he is on the subject. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! 14. Like cancer survival rates? Screening for breast cancer in women over 50 can “clearly save lives,” but overscreening, particularly in prostate cancer, may be harmful, because some tumors never develop into something dangerous. Then people are “cured of a cancer they didn’t need to be cured of,” [American Cancer Society Chief Medical Officer Otis] Brawley said. It's probably a cat's probably just a case of Dr. Brawley's bias showing, though, right? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  15. Just a quick analysis of your source reveals that the US, despite having 50% more neonatal specialists than Canada and 100% more than Great Britain, as well as 15% more intensive care beds than Canada and 200% more than Great Britain, the US has the same neonatal mortality rates as Canada and United Kingdom. That certainly does not indicate higher effectiveness or higher efficiency in the US system. To be fair, your source does provide some pretty graphics; it just doesn't support your assertion. 17. Yes. The US' healthcare quality was considered, so it was clearly not a comparison of only socialized healthcare systems. Further, socialized heath insurance (i.e. single payer systems with government as the payer) is not the same as socialized healthcare (e.g., healthcare providers are government employees). 18. Select some assertions from them, then. I'm not going to address them "line by line." That would be doing your homework for you. Whatever you feel like ignorantly claiming. If you're aware of a more comprehensive site than Erowid.org w/r/t information about controlled substances, feel free to share it. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! 19. It will be difficult to be worse than 37th among the developed world (the US' current rank w/r/t healthcare). Current rank w/r/t socialized healthcare, you mean. No, I wrote what I meant. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  20. I just cannot understand this. Here's how I look at it: My bank charges me 5% interest on a loan. A few months later the bank pursues a number of cost-cutting steps: -Negotiate a cheaper monthly lease rate -Reduce labor costs -Reduce other misc operating costs So they slightly increased their profit margin. Do you think they should call me and lower my interest rate to 4.99%? There are none so blind as those who refuse to see. My point stands: usury laws save consumers money by limiting the profit of lenders. You asked for an example; and I gave one. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  21. Wrong. Banks borrow money (e.g., take in deposits) and they lend money. They pay interest on the money they borrow. They charge a higher interest rate on money they lend out. That is profit. The profit is the interest rate spread, MINUS loan defaults and the cost of running the business. Those are some of the expenses that must be considered when determining the net profit. I thought it was obvious that I was offering a simple description of gross profit. Apparently it wasn't as obvious as I thought. I apologize for the confusion. Math tutoring available. 23. That's exactly the functionality sleep already offers.
  24. Interest is the price of money. A company can charge interest and still not make a profit. That's what happens when 100+ banks go out of business. Wrong. Banks borrow money (e.g., take in deposits) and they lend money. They pay interest on the money they borrow. They charge a higher interest rate on money they lend out. That is profit. Usury laws limit the profit for lenders, saving consumers money. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  25. My fault. I should have quoted the relevant passage instead of relying on people reading the specific paragraph that I referenced in my post. “unlawful debt” means a debt(A) incurred or contracted in gambling activity which was in violation of the law of the United States, a State or political subdivision thereof, or which is unenforceable under State or Federal law in whole or in part as to principal or interest because of the laws relating to usury, and (B) which was incurred in connection with the business of gambling in violation of the law of the United States, a State or political subdivision thereof, or the business of lending money or a thing of value at a rate usurious under State or Federal law, where the usurious rate is at least twice the enforceable rate; I trust you know what usury is and understand that interest is the profit associated with lending money.
