  1. No, I knew you weren't serious. If you were serious, you would have recommended a different book. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  4. Like that would work. Now, if you designed it to run on Brown's gas, then you'd be onto something. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  5. I see where you're going with this, but to impose a lack of spending on a service as income is clearly a flawed logic. I highlighted the pertinent parts for you so you might see the unflawed logic. In fact, it is not a written law, but these "truths are self-evident". These rights are given by "their Creator" with "unalienable Rights". The founding fathers thought so much of those "unalienable" rights that they saw fit to allow slavery and consider slaves to be equal to three-fifths of a free man. The DoI was a "Fuck You!" to the king of England. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  6. As the author of the comment, I'm absolutely certain that I have better insight than you do regarding what was or wasn't implied by the comment, sir. You erroneously inferred something not stated or implied. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  7. I'm not claiming that I agree (or disagree) with the exemption. I was just offering one possible explanation for its existence. Heck, I'm not even claiming that my explanation correctly identifies legislators' reasoning. In general, I agree. However, I also recognize that equal is not always fair, and fair is not always equal. It could well be possible that the least painful transition for everybody (considered collectively) is to exempt some groups, at least temporarily, from some aspects of the legislation. For the record, I still favor a single payer system for at least emergency and basic healthcare. Anything less will be a big f'n compromise (and not in the good sense of the word). 8. Perhaps you should read up on the powers of Congress under the Constitution, particularly the general welfare clause of Article 1, §8 and Amendment 16. As I hope you are aware, the Declaration of Independence is not a document of law under our present government. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  9. Right. That's why I told you to do a search instead of posting a comprehensive response to your post. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  13. Because it would necessitate a lot of contract negotiations. Further, some companies might be able to legally postpone such negotiations until contracts are up, leaving union employees to fully bear the costs that are shared by the employers of non-union workers. A temporary exemption may well be the most reasonable option. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  15. Some union employees receive their health insurance through their union, rather than through their employer. My dad is on such (retired) employee. So tax the union as you would an employer! I don't think it is that easy. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  19. You're confusing Desert Shield/Storm with OIL OIF. The two are not the same. No, I'm not. I consider the wars the same, with an interruption in between. And that would be incorrect. That said, we've had this discussion before, so if you want to relive it, do a search. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  20. If you consider objective analysis to be the same thing as sympathizing then there's no point in further discussion. "An honest historian has no country." I realize that you only support their anti-Arab and anti-Muslim views. I love it when people have to resort to their ad hominem arguments, since it shows that they can't constructively contribute to the discussion. (Incidentally, I'm currently sober, just as I tend to be the overwhelming majority of the time.) Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  25. Agreed. I remember an interview with Ozzy in which he talked about the band (at that time they were a blues rock band called Earth, IIRC) seeing a poster for the movie Black Sabbath, w/ Boris Karloff, and the band thought it was outrageous that people would pay good money to see a movie designed to scare the hell out of them. The band had their new name, and the concept of horror rock was born. The band changed their name and style, and the rest is history. (Apparently their name for their new genre didn't stick.)
