Same as 2, YMMV. No, it isn't. One can neither believe nor disbelieve in a concept one is not aware of. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

4 - Don't believe by default, because there's no reason to even consider the possibility Before today, have you ever deliberately chosen not to believe in fuzzy purple flying elephants that shoot piranha out of their trunks during cold weather? This year's Democratic primary is what a thorough ass kicking looks like when delegates are awarded proportionally. Sanders was all but mathematically eliminated when the votes were counted Super Tuesday. If it was a fight, they would have stopped it. ETA: The folks at FiveThirtyEight seem to (mostly) agree. Here's an excerpt from (the transcript of) a recent podcast: harry: One thing that I think gets undersold is the psychology of coming so far when so few people thought you would come so far. Most people, including me, thought Sanders would win some votes but that Clinton would ultimately crush him. And while she holds a significant lead, Sanders won more than 40 percent of the Democratic primary vote. When the same analysts who thought you didn’t have much of a chance now say you’re dead in the water, there is an understandable tendency to dismiss them. The problem: The analysts are right in this case. And that some in the Sanders campaign are so forcefully arguing that he is losing because the game is fixed could make it difficult for Clinton to coalesce the Democratic vote. … natesilver: Now I’m really going to get myself in trouble: Weren’t the experts correct that Sanders didn’t have much of a chance? micah: I’m with Nate on this: Sanders did get crushed — this is what crushed looks like in a proportional primary system. If the Democratic race were run with GOP rules, that would be more apparent. harry: Oh, I don’t agree with that at all. Sanders is trailing Clinton in the popular vote by about the same as Cruz is trailing Trump. micah: And Cruz got crushed. natesilver: To me, it’s like when a college football team — Clinton University — is favored by 24 points. Their opponent, Sanders State, kicks a field goal to go ahead 3-0. But then Clinton U. pulls ahead 14-3 on Super Tuesday and leads the rest of the way. Sanders State never makes it a one-score game, and in the end, Clinton U. wins by 14. So Sanders State beat the point spread, but you wouldn’t really call it a close game — Clinton U. was in control almost the whole way. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! The problem is a system that makes it exceedingly difficult for anyone outside of two parties to be picked. When you consider that two out of the last four candidates standing, three if you consider that Ted Cruz is a Tea Party darling (not exactly Republican establishment), are outsiders to their respective parties, it's reasonable to assume that many people would like a meaningful option beyond those two parties. A different system might allow, for example, a voter to say that they want to vote for Smith, unless Smith is not a top 2 candidate, in which case they vote for Jones, unless Jones is also not a top 2 candidate, in which case they want to vote for Hungeldorfenbacher, unless Hungeldorfenbacher also isn't a top 2 candidate, in which case they vote for Clinton. The current system requires that, in order to maximize the value of our vote, we predict who the top two candidates will be (in general, the Republican and Democrat nominees), and choose from only those two, no matter who we truly prefer. It's not about being smarter than the people electing candidates. It's about giving those people more options from which to choose. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! Yes please. I'd love to see it happen, but it will have to happen at the federal level. The states can't do it individually. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

Until we implement ranked voting, instant runoff voting, or a similar alternative that gives third party candidates a real chance at winning an election instead of just a symbolic place on the ballot, nothing changes. Oh, the irony: Ken Starr removed as Baylor president

Yes, that Kenneth Star. Baylor Removes Ken Starr As President Over University's Response To Sex Assault Cases "Baylor University has removed Ken Starr as president and suspended head football coach Art Briles amid the release of a report critical of how the school has treated allegations of sexual harassment and assault." From the university's statement: "We were horrified by the extent of these acts of sexual violence on our campus. This investigation revealed the University's mishandling of reports in what should have been a supportive, responsive and caring environment for students. The depth to which these acts occurred shocked and outraged us. Our students and their families deserve more, and we have committed our full attention to improving our processes, establishing accountability and ensuring appropriate actions are taken to support former, current and future students." Starr seems to be getting off rather lightly, considering the repercussions President Clinton faced over receiving consensual fellatio. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour!
