  1. "But the truth is, is that, our challenge is to get people persuaded that we can make progress when there’s not evidence of that in their daily lives. You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." 4. Easy access to guns makes it much less likely that potential mass shooters' plans are foiled before they are implemented. Some form factors, particularly those known as assault weapons, are optimized specifically for inter-personal combat, increasing the potential killing rate, particularly in close quarters. You are correct that the guns are not the root cause of the problem. But they are a major component of the symptoms, and sometimes symptoms must also be treated, not just a disease's root cause. 5. No gun does not imply no fight. Relying on a brain is virtually always a better strategy than relying on a bullet. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  6. In other words, your innovative proposal is to continue on with the status quo with our heads buried in the sand. Got it. Liberty implies the ability to go to school without worrying about being shot. That's what the adults in the discussion are trying to safeguard. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! 8. Perhaps it is you, Ron, who does not understand what being an American means. You'll find, by reading the Constitution, that the Framers believed international treaties should supersede the Constitution, the Constitution should supersede other federal law, and federal law should supersede state and local law. The Framers very much intended for Americans to be influenced by their superset organizations. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  13. A medical professional may, in fact, prescribe medication, but it is not to "have their spirit broken." The very idea is absurd. They're receiving help, not being forced into child slavery. That's a pretty sweeping generalization, especially coming from someone who admittedly doesn't work with kids. Many professionals who work with low-income patients would disagree. It is not the money invested, rather the effort made, that will ultimately help determine if sessions are helpful. More frequently, it isn't character flaws that need to be addressed. It's mental health issues like depression. Would you also consider someone to have physical flaws because they catch a cold or come down with the flu one every year or two? Math tutoring available. 14. That study doesn't support your claim that people are being diagnosed with autism and PTSD in order to receive treatment for other conditions/disorders. "You have a child with parents in the middle of divorce or other things are going on and they just need someone to talk to. Unfortunately that's not covered by insurance so they end up labeled autistic or ptsd or something just so they can get the help." That quote is not from the study you referenced. No, it's not. FYI: It's considered better form to match the citation and quoted passage. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  15. As a rule, you should take studies that rely on questionnaires only as indicators of whether additional research might be warranted, not as conclusive research. Also, note that their numbers exceed 100 percent, implying that multiple responses were allowed. Thus, we can assume that many of the "[a]lmost another quarter" of respondents overlapped with the three-fourths of the parents who pointed out that new information was the reason for the misdiagnosis. In light of that, there's not much in the way of supporting evidence that the initial misdiagnoses were typically intentional. In other words, autistic children who previously would have been misdiagnosed or gone undiagnosed (i.e., issue ignored) are now being properly diagnosed with autism. Math tutoring available. 18. I think many American fathers tend to view mental health issues as a weakness. When their own kids are concerned, it's better to ignore mental health issues than to acknowledge the issue and the (illogical) implication that their offspring might not be sufficiently strong to make it in society. More than a few go so far as to believe psychology, as a field, is complete nonsense. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  19. Tightening up gun laws does not imply "changing 2nd Amendment". Tightening up gun laws is where reasonable steps to reduce mass shootings will start. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  20. Nobody is being diagnosed with autism just so they can talk to someone. Same with PTSD. The problem is the general low opinion of people giving and receiving mental healthcare held by so many ignorant people. Neither diagnoses nor treatment are typically given arbitrarily. Strange. I know at least three psychologists who are under the impression they've been doing it. Your comments suggest you don't know enough about psychology to have at least three psychologists confide in you that they've been committing fraud. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! 23. Brilliant! The background is 2.73K, not brilliant at all. Jesus, John, It was a Jesus Joke. That said, you meant 2.725K, yes? Or, 2.72548 +/- 0.00057 K. But somehow brilliance happened anyway.
