  1. Except that he was completely wrong, he nailed it, yes. A governments role is to allocate resources efficiently for the good of the governed. Some are better at it than others. I never said otherwise. However, pure profit is not always what drives businessmen. There is a big difference between the two. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  2. Is it thin skin week in SC? I've lost track of all the times I've heard wolf cried unnecessarily this week. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  3. Correct, but not the whole story. The environmental movement has invested in the movement, and want a return. The best way to ensure that the public uses their products is to make sure the government commands it. Bullshit. It has a hell of a lot more to do with wanting a habitable environment for our old age, our children and our grandchildren. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  5. True, I've not travelled much outside the US. I have, however, known many dozens of Europeans that had immigrated to the US, many of which returned to their home countries after realizing that America was not everything the propaganda claimed. Some of those left specifically due to the lack of freedom in the US compared to their home country. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  6. Yes, there is a fairly narrow set of circumstances in which one can be detained without being arrested. However, generally, one is either under arrest or free to go. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  7. If by living breathing changing document, you meant one that can be changed by a set out amendment process, then yes they did. If you mean one that can be read to mean anything you want it to me, then no, they did not. Are you implying that they did not intend for the judicial branch to have the authority to interpret laws, including the Constitution? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! 9. Yeah, because the framers never intended it to be a living, breathing, changing document that could stand the test of changing times. They didn't really mean anything by Article 5, did they? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  13. From The Plan: The Department of Energy reports that 20% of America's electricity can come from wind. North Dakota alone has the potential to provide power for more than a quarter of the country. I'm having trouble understanding how, if only 20% of America's electricity can come from wind, North Dakota can provide power for more than a quarter of the country. 20% < 25%+. Are they determining a quarter of the country by area? If so, that doesn't really provide much useful information. I'm not saying that wind power is not a good thing, but it appears Pickens might be being a little bit misleading with his Plan. I am personally of the belief that solar power shows more potential as a major energy source than wind power. Of course, some areas are better suited for power generation via wind than via sunlight. There isn't going to be any single magic bullet. You're right, though. The US government should be devoting significantly more funding for alternative (renewable) energy sources' research and development. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! 14. Fixed that for you. One would have to be blind to reality to believe both sides are equally to blame. Are both sides guilty? Absolutely. Equally so? Not even close. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  15. See that Kallend? He reads your name and closes the shutters. Your intellectual debating skills must carry with them power like a hurricane's. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  16. You may be confusing opinion with hypothesis. At any rate, your assertion remains unsubstantiated. Your personal experience tells us nothing about the views of the vast majority of OB/Gyns. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  18. See post 99 of this thread where you claimed "the vast majority of OB/Gyns object to elective abortions for moral reasons." i was quoting you in post 99, you said it, not me. You must have missed the part where you said "the vast majority of OB/Gyns object to elective abortions for moral reasons" to be true, and based that assertion on all the OB/Gyn docs you've spoken with. Or were you simply substituting data with anecdotal experience? Like Kallend said, "The plural of anecdote is not data." Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  20. Please school me on the facts... you have yet to do so. The fact is your "1.4ºF in the last century" is a piece of data taken out of context, and does not discredit claims of climatologists as you are saying it does. The wrong time interval is used, and it fails to offer information about the second or third derivative of average temperature with respect to time. Your argument is like saying that the average speed of a top fuel dragster over the course of a 24 hour period is less than 1 mph, so the dragster can't go very fast. Math tutoring available. 21. Sure it does, at least until it is challenged and a court (or other legal review) determines that policy violates the law. The executive has to interpret laws in order to execute them. Interpretations by the judicial branch, however, trump interpretations by the executive branch. I guess they didn't cover that in your high school government class. Math tutoring available. 24. By how much did the mean temperature increase over the past fifty years? What about the past twenty-five years. It's important to look at proper intervals and examine higher derivatives of the average temperatures, otherwise we end up with data that is nearly meaningless. You are correct that the data you did/didn't provide is useless. Let me give you a hint. In the last 50 years the liberals have gone from global warming to global cooling back to global warming. You tell me about useless data, try talking to the liberals about made up data. I'm sorry. I thought you said you were open minded. I must have misunderstood. Forgive me for trying to show you why the piece of date you were relying on to make your point (i.e. 1.4ºF increase in average temperature over the past century) is meaningless in the context in which you were attempting to use it. If you'd rather continue clinging to incorrect conclusions based on politics instead of factual scientific evidence, feel free. You won't be the only one in SC to do so. If that's what you choose to do, rather than learn why those conclusions are incorrect, you should be careful about calling others ignorant. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour!
