Reggie may have told you a few things i recommended to him before he went to do his jump. He went out last on a second pass, which in terms of visuals, isn't the most fun. My guess is that only 8-10 wingsuiters went out on that plane so far. I guess since no one else has posted about the jet stuff really, I guess here is maybe a little guide based upon my experience. Position in Plane When they run two passes , Just get out on the second pass (first or last spot). I went out first and I'd recommend going out first to people if you aren't planning on playing right away so you dont need to hop down the aisle and you can setup at the door. If want to go out last you may be able to have people let you sit near the door and let people pass by you. That would solve the running part. Have your legs zipped up once you get into the seat. It's only 4 min or so to alti. If for some reason they decide to do 1 pass due to a smaller load (half or less) I can't see a problem going out first or last, but I doubt they'd throw it up with that small of a load. If you want to be safer, obivously go out last. The Exit Exit speed is 150-160kts, so it's not a 200knt highspeed pass and isn't bad at all. The air once you get out is smooth, at least compared to a prop. If you are facing up jumprun, you can probably wait a sec or so after exit and still get a nice pop. As others said, 1 by 1 exit. so if you are jumping with more birds and are first in line, you'd prob want any other brids behind the first to just dive out or there is a great change there'd be too much initial separation. you can dive out or you can setup at the edge of the door facing jump run like you would on a tailgate. A dive is a dive. If you are facing jump run - Before you get into position, note where the edge is. You will see the exit is narrow and has a lip at the end of the aisle with kinda of a steep rounded ramp (it will make sense when you see it). When you turn around and back up, dont step on the curved part since you may slip and wont get a good foot plant anyways. just lightly hop off from the edge backwards and open up like a highspeed. Just don't do it like you did in MOAB. Dont push up and back too much or you may hit or come really close to hitting your head on the back part of the door. You should be able to pop open pretty quickly without any issues, you'll probably just be a little closer to the exhaust stream of the plane. I did get up to the T part of the tail. I'd imagine someone can get higher if they pop open earlier than I did. I hung out there while before doing my flight plan as i watched 15-20 people fall out of the back with a great background. That's one fun thing about going first. You can figure out the rest. I can't remember if it was popping up or coming down (popping up i think) you do quickly cross a little bit of an exhaust stream.. a little warmer, choppy, and the smell. oh yeah, unless they figured out thier procedures better and pressurization, leave the cypress off. I dont think they had problems in the latter part of the convention tho. BTW i think it holds 90 or 95 people and I think they put it up at the convention with a min of 80. How long does it take you to feel comfortable in your new wingsuit?
Buried replied to pierre3636's topic in Wing Suit Flying
define 'comfortable'? dont' think i've ever been uncomfortable on a suit. each suit is different to hone in close to the best position, etc. usually takes between 3-12 jumps(for me) before trying anything that needs precision or advanced maneauvers Where is my fizzy-lifting drink? -
about every place holds something which is usually a set price for the night (includes food/drinks). there's also a bunch of places with music. checkout metromix.com for some ideas. there are always fireworks at navypier, but that can be really crowded. Where is my fizzy-lifting drink?

people can represent themselves. sure it may not be wise, but it is a possibility. possible, but i i'm not sure how this relates. I highly doubt that it would cover BMIs or PFIs, maybe at the BMCI's level, but i doubt that too Where is my fizzy-lifting drink? -

sure, but there are other clauses and such you can include in a waiver to limit your exposure or could get setup as an .INC. I'd just ask favours from friends yeah me too.. BTW the noun works fine there. If you would like me to explain it or show you in a grammer book let me know Where is my fizzy-lifting drink? -
Wing Suit Instructor Ratings: Split from Z-Flock Thank You
Buried replied to Buried's topic in Wing Suit Flying
eh, maybe, yes and no. I think mine and other's comments can both support your and challenge that comment. I'm trying to stay on the lines of the 'rating' vs a specific manufacturer rating. Any reference to a specific rating is an observation of my own and should be taken separately from the 'rating' convo Where is my fizzy-lifting drink? -

Hmm well there is a lot in this thread that deems a reply, so you may need to bare with me for a post or two. few points to start off with - -This is a discipline. No other discipline has 'rated' instructors, just what chuck is referring to as 'coaches'. we are not teaching people who've never skydived or have -

He designs his own wingsuits, couldn't he just make up his own rating now? (Seems to be how everyone else did it) exactly! ratings can mean sh*t when teaching (not just in skydiving). it's the person. they should be able to provide the student all the information necessary in order for them (the student) to be safe for themselfs and others. Sure there is structure involed, but what is to say that I or Jeff (or others) cannot provide that structure which will allow/provide for a student to be sucessful at WS flying. NOTHING. I know AFF-I's that can't teach sh*t or leave things out all the tme. Do ratings help? sure. Are they necessary for teaching [wingsuiting]? NO. Why don't we just start ratings for RW, FF, hybrid, skyboarding instruction, heck, lets to it for BASE and make it easier for the masses so that the students have confidence that when they leave it they wont go in. I do hope that if you do consider 'teaching' others you know your stuff and have some experience with it, but that doesn't require ratings. Would someone rather learn from someone with 100 jumps, but happens to be a [newly appointed] BMI, PFI or many of the other qualified people who dont ask for much other than having someone join the flock. and as said, not like the USPA (or other organizations?) recongnize the rating anyhow. I'm just going to create a structured program called WSI and offer it for 5$ to anyone who wants it. Will all pass? no. so be prepared to divvy up more than $5 if you fail! Jeff you in? I'll offer you the "rating" to you for free too! Will you do a couse for me for free too? I dont want to waste 300$ on BS. I'll even forego any birdman discounts on suits and "kick-backs" i mean commissions on sold BM suits. ----------------------------- BTW first WSI ratiing course will be held at Zflock 3.0. Contact me for details if a mod wants to spin this off into another thread, go for it. just dont delete it Where is my fizzy-lifting drink? -
IQ tests are products of man, and there are various types of stupid. I wouldn't really call people stupid anyways. remember when the SAT and ACT where changed recently since apparently "blacks" or "lower class" (articles' words not mine) didn't know how many cards in a deck and some other things. well some of that stuff would be totally incorrect and harder to prove that you think since they require a (usually nonrelated) comparision. Fat is fat, it's documented. 10-15lbs over ideally isn't fat.. Fat, would be unhealthy and no added benefits (other than providing cannibles a bigger meal) I'll tell you that you're fat and that I love you too.

well common courtesy is, yes, a good thing and you, but does not push, limit, etc your views of others. of course you should still respect others, but PC isn't about respect, or if it is it had gone too far looooong ago and has had a changed meaning. common courtesy is FAR away and not related to being PC IMO and there is more than just physical appearance. One can be fat, but the nicest person. Pot - kettle - black. it is what it is. if you are fat and you take offence to it when you are called that then maybe you should do something about it or build enough selfcondifence where it doesn't matter. I dont' have a problem when people call me a jerk, asshole, etc Where is my fizzy-lifting drink?

Well said and very true!! yeah and dont worry about hurting someone's feelings!! if they are too ignorant to recongize that someone else can have a different view then them. boo hoo hoo you may cry, feel 'hurt', but i'm sure you are an adult and will forget about it if you have you own life, no sympathy for me. On one side it's america's culture to live vicariously through others and be protected as much as possible and play the politics (again to be protected) and the other is to step on the little man and be selfish to make $ (again, relating to the first few items). I mean look at our large companies, our media, our tv, our movies, our habits, our food, our law system. it's all setup to protect people who have no common sense or people which are smart enough to play the system, thinking that there will be some grand reward awaiting them at the end. People(Americans, small and tall, skinny, and fat) are just too sheltered today. they need to mature and realize it's a fact of life. Where is my fizzy-lifting drink?
