  1. Agreed. That's a much better way to phrase it. Only if you want to leave your readers completey ignorant of what's actually going on. Half of the motivation here is protecting the victims families from the uncomfortable truth that their relative was a prostitute, a fact they're mosty aware of, they just don't want it mentioned in public at a tragic time, but there is a greater public interest, not only to protect other prostitutes from the same fate but to protect women who are not prostitutes from unnecessary fear. This is about the truth vs. censorship not about selling copies, this story sells itself, heck it'd be a bigger story if the victims weren't prostitutes because everyone would be running around scared and reading all they could on it.
  2. Theories are what science is based on and as theories go evolution is as good as it gets. Newton's "Laws" are actually wrong, you do know that dont you? There is no reasoning with a belief. Propose a theory with a scientific framework, present an experiment or premise that can be confirmed by subsequent discovery, but really Evolution has already passed these tests a thousand times over. It's been tested, and so has creationism, evolution has passed on the other hand creationism has to be constantly revised to fit the inconvenient data, so much so that no two Christian groups agree on a range of creationist issues. It used to be heliocentrism was a big hangup, now you can ask how many creationists believe the Earth is 4 billion years old? What's your outer bound for the age of the Universe? What about all those other stars up there in the sky? What about the strata of creatures in the fossil record what's the explanation? There are a plethra of other scientific disciplines that utterly refute the hodgepodge of creationist nonsense. The Bible has proven to be embarrassingly useless as a tool for predicting the outcome of scientific discovery and moreover creationists have persecuted & burned scientists and philosophers at the stake when the facts get a little too uncomfortable for them. ..and you have the cheek to post that evolution is wonky & fading!? Evolution will only fade as ignorance grows and minds close.
  3. Evolution is not a belief, it's a theory, you can choose to believe it or not, but it's one of the most tested, supported and rigorous theories in science and utterly misunderstood by most people, especially American Christians. In my opinion it's one of the great pinnacles of modern science and to discover time after time that it is confirmed and a century after Darwin to discover & understand DNA and reproduction is one of the more profound and beautiful accomplishments of man in support of the theory of evolution, as foundations go it's utterly solid. This is not like Newtonian Physics where a behaviour is described but fundamentally inaccurate at some limit of precision or unexplained beyond behaviour & outcomes with no underlying mechanism (without subsequent work). The mechanism is laid bare for all to see, it's not just an explanation, it is understood and is consistent at a profound level and the newer discoveries absolutely fit with the old theory. Any rational person should be profoundly ashamed to blurt nonsense about it being evil or wrong, you're adopting the mantle of those who persecuted Galileo and burned Giordano Bruno at the stake, its' a shameful legacy of human ignorance and hypocrisy that you should turn away from.
  4. Many women meet this need through choice. They're not content to work at their skill level at Tescos for example, not enough cash for their lifestyle of choice so they use their other 'talents'. What you're describing is servitude & rape, but most of the slappers in the UK are there through choice, bad choices for sure but choice, there are all sorts of choices in life, those that land you in jail or build a great career or have you tunring tricks on some seedy street. You don't get to define my vocabulary thanks, prostitute did not fall out of fashion after the 1800 pretending that this is some archaic term is promulgating a lie to enforce more PC bullshit. They're prostitutes, or whores and you prefer that term and if there's stigma associated with this activity then maybe it'll dissuade a few more women from turning tricks for drugs, alcohol, rent or whatever. The terms ain't politically correct but there's nothing politically correct about being a whore, and I should damn well hope there's a stigma about being a whore. If they want self-esteem & respect then they can choose a different path.
  5. You are always free to retroactively apply your anti-reproduction policy to your parents "irresponsible" decision.
  6. Because "W" is near the end of the alphabet and "Caucasian" probably confuses too many Brits.
  7. Now that's making lemonade from lemons.
  8. Play the bagpipes until they leave.
  9. An entirely Eurocentric definition of the start of WW2, one with which I doubt many Chinese or Koreans would agree. Yup, everyone knows WWII started in December 1941, these provincial Europeans need to be sensitive to the international community when declaring a World War.
  10. So it's OK to torture criminals. Nice to know where you stand. It's OK to hang war criminals and illegal combatants, just so you know where I stand. That's where civilized countries have stood in major conflicts before this myopic stupor descended upon the intelligensia. A guy who robs a 7-11 is a criminal, a guy who plants bombs, kidnaps and beheads innocents, hides among civilians with weapons to attack our troops and innocent civillians is not merely a criminal, he's an illegal combatant and when caught, waterboarding should be the least of their worries.
  11. A couple of nasty characters in there but mostly it's flagrant political bias. It's one thing to criticise someone for corruption, but it's quite shameful to equate representatives with criminals because of the policy they espouse, as is the case with most of the anti-republican criticism here. The the only obviously criminal behavior in the entire thing is the Democrat stuffing cash in his freezer and his entire party (heck the entire congress) rallied behind him to obstruct a legal search of his office conducted under a court issued warrant. There's no mention in here of Cynthia McKinney for example who is the other obviously criminal congresswoman. The whole thing is biased and highly selective and throws a token Democrat out there more to smear the Republicans by association with genuinely criminal behavior.
  12. It's worth remembering Ann Coulter's insightful complaint that the left likes to wheel out spokespeople into the political arena they feel are immune from criticism. When someone does criticise or respond they demagoge and vilify those on the right who would take them on and point out genuine concerns. There are no sacred cows, whether you're a 9-11 widow celebrity or a celebrity Parkinsons sufferer. Not only do you Yanks love shmaltz in your politics you hate it when anyone dares criticise this while completely ignoring the original sin.
  13. Well at least Limbaugh didn't call Fox a "pig" that would have been a poor way to conduct himself.
  14. Tillman died fighting in Afghanistan, not Iraq. How much does he resent being channeled by a CA lawyer? I have no idea but you seem to have the direct line so do let us know.
  15. um, what part of that don't you people get? This regulation only applies in the USA and even there skydivers can find themselves inadvertantly falling towards a cloud thorugh the vagaries of winds aloft & the dynamics of clouds.
  16. It's not crap, you'd have been against any action on NK if that had happened which is exactly what I said, and just like now you'd be pointing to other regions saying they're neglected including Iraq.
  17. Not the least of SCOs problems is the University origins and the earlier BSD case. It's just stunning to see these guys claim posix like headers as evidence of copyright infringement. They've cited the defines for interrupt codes as proprietary. It has to be the flimsiest software copyright claim in history. The stuff that looks even remotely suspicious that has been seen in public has been traced to earlier copyright free ancestor code or worse, public code copied by SCO. It's actually getting entertaining now but it was frustrating watching SCO's early shenanigans and idiots in the media running around taking the pronouncements seriously without the capacity to even comprehend the issues at stake. This would have been the crime of the century if SCO had pulled it off, a crime against the freedom of humanity of immeasurable impact IMHO and the complicit fools in the media like Laura DiDio were ready to help it along. All my opinion of course.
  18. Yup I do know, as I said it's complex, but SCO were very actively engaged in OS development with IBM and were proactively incorporating features into Linux while promoting & selling Linux for a long time. SCO could have been a viable Linux player and would have grown, they almost went down that path, but as you say they took the other fork in the road.
  19. That is such B.S. If Bush had done more (and you don't specify what you'd actually like to have seen done) about NK you'd be first in line bitching and saying he's done nothing about Iraq.
  20. Southpark was good this week. Cartman was given authoritah and warned not to abuse it, - cut to Cartman "Dog" the hall monitor, much hillarity ensued. See attached image. I don't know about you but I sure wouldn't enjoy the sight of a famous Mexican bounty hunter kidnapping Dog and huling him accross the border as he moralized at his captive for his own edification in front of some TV audience. Folks should reflect on that next time they watch his show if they're capable of that kind of introspection.
  21. P.S. The lawsuit against IBM was also largely based on their contract with IBM over a collaborative Operating system development project rather than and innate right to Linux code or IBM's work. This was always smokescreened by them in my opinion in an attempt to get people to sign up for their licensing program (licensing SCO's code in Linuc to Linux users for a small fortune). Particularly insidious is that Microsoft was one of the few takers on SCO's licenses (something people seem to have forgotten) and also encouraged Baystar to invest in SCO. This was a huge FUD success against Linux for Microsoft at the time, but it's pretty much petered out now.
  22. SCO is a company that had a Unix operating system and claimed to own Unix, the code and trademark, the history is complex but SCO stood for "Santa Cruz Operation". They tried to undermine Linux by claiming that it violated their copyrights on Unix code, trademarks etc. and sued IBM for a billion bucks and tried to sue a few of their own customers (based on contracts EULAs etc.) and there was a lot of misrepresentation about this to the press in my opinion. In my opinion it was particularly bullshit because SCO had contributed to Linux, sold Linux etc. before changing their business model to one of suing the rest of the world over I.P. they didn't actually own. In my opinion some key things about the management at SCO changed and they became clueless about technical details of development, what they could own, what they actually owned and started to believe their own bullshit while ignoring information that clearly undermined their position. The IBM suit has been running for a long time now. SCO have taken a beating along the way in court and on the stock market after an initial runup, specifically on their inability to produce concrete specifics of copyright violation and their case has morphed significantly. The chickens are coming home to roost for SCO. Ticker symbol SCOX. It has been very satisfying to see companies like Baystar (who funded what in my opinion was a shakedown scam) get burned financially. Now hopefully David Boise will take it in the shorts for participating (a lot of his fee is in SCO stock I hear). If SCO is not left as a smouldering crater, something will have gone very wrong with our legal system.
  23. I'm sure the child will be very grateful for your concern & your opinion once he is returned to his rightful place in the orphanage. How dare Madonna threaten him with a life of privilege and luxury & love.

  25. For USPA D the 500 jump requirement 'consumes' a lot of jumps, which should highlight the issue with your question. You should enjoy your jumping, jumps aren't consumed, they're to be enjoyed. If you want to progress as quickly as possible make sure you note any accuracy success for your C always pick a landing spot on each jump even if the DZ has no peas and you should be able to rack them up no problem.
