Nice try indeed ... he's finally conceded, nearly 8 months post-election. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=106101311&sc=fb&cc=fp "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Mine didn't show up in yesterday's mail. I'm hoping it'll be waiting for me when I get home today. Obviously I've read the article but I want to see how the whole layout turned out and read the rest of the mag as well. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. You can unplug. But you do need a power source to inflate it. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

If you have easy access to a power source, I'd recommend an AeroBed. Edit to add that I think I have the knockoff brand, too. They're way more comfy than other air mattresses and tend to hold the air much better - you'll need to reinflate it a little before each night, but it'll still be comfy. Plus they only take about a minute to inflate. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Good feedback; the decision was made to do the same jump again because the belief was that the primary contributing factor to the first stall was pilot inexperience; the second jump was done with a different pilot (and different PAC, since the PAC involved in the first jump was temporarily grounded for inspection) who has significantly more experience both in the PAC and with jumpers launching chunks out of the PAC. Obviously, lesson learned by everyone involved that there was more at play than pilot skill & experience. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Thanks for posting those, Phil. They are the two stalls on Thursday that I mentioned up-thread. While we were waiting for the last aircraft (Otter) for the bigway to show up, we practiced in smaller groups. These jumps were practice for the 6 in the base + the 6 zippers. Single plane practice, no formation. Including video, we had five outside. The chunk being launched was a four-way base chunk with two outside and two inside, plus front float (me) and rear float, both of whom were zippers. I believe that the other six folks were not lined up at the door and instead stayed towards the front of the plane, but there might have been one more diver in the back. On the first jump there was a tail strike by one of the jumpers who was in the inside group. Fortunately the jumper sustained only minor injuries - bruises on his left side (thigh and upper arm), and he chose to deploy immediately after clearing the tail to allow himself time to assess the situation for both his gear and his body. He was able to land safely under his main. There was what was described as superficial damage to the plane. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Nunya:14:1 What a weekend ... I was front float on not one, but two, stalled PACs, owed for the first time ever falling off on climbout (no excuses, just operator error ), had a bunch of really great and fun RW jumps of various sizes, finished my D license requirements and have that form all ready to send in, got pied, got pie, met a lot of new folks (or folks I only knew from DZ.com), and basically had yet another blisteringly-hot good time at the American Boogie at Skydance. I was excited to see such a great turnout of visitors from out-of-town this year - word is getting out about this boogie! Of course, there were sad notes, too, and Lost Prairie won't be the same without Ken to administer Cunning Linguist to all comers. Yep, I was asked not to wear a particular t-shirt that the DZO found inappropriate, for the same reason (keeping the place family friendly). Said DZO also gave me a free t-shirt to change into. I was a little stunned but just chuckled and changed. Their business, their rules, and a t-shirt wasn't really worth making a stink about in my book. Contact info for Blue Skies Mag?

I see at least four email addresses on this page and it took me one click to get there. But as others have said, the first issue is slated for July - my understanding is that it's in the production process right now and should be out as scheduled. http://blueskiesmag.com/about/ "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. As front float on both of the aforementioned stalls this weekend at the boogie, I can say pretty unequivocally that's not the attitude I like to see a plane in. In the first case, pilot inexperience was said to be a contributing factor (though certainly *not* the only factor), and that stall was significantly more dramatic and sudden than the second. In the second the pilot (who, as you know is one of the most experienced jump pilots on this aircraft) recognized, corrected, and finally did what he needed to do to right the plane (which involved "shaking" us off to the left side of the aircraft). We reviewed the video on the second jump and counted from video climb-out to exit and realized that we were taking too long in the door, which certainly didn't help the situation. The timing was such that we were probably on "set" at the exact point that the pilot "shook" us off. A few seconds faster on the climb-out/set-up and the problem could have been avoided. Where to take first time jumper near Seattle
NWFlyer replied to tcituk's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I believe your only option on a Monday would be Skydive Kapowsin in Shelton, WA. About an hour and a half drive depending on where in Seattle you're starting. Skydive Snohomish is closer to Seattle but usually closed Mondays. http://www.skydivekapowsin.com/hours.php "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. I've found that if you're giving stuff away, it's better to use freecycle (or give to charities or people you already know) rather than Craiglist. For the most part, it seems there's this "perceived value" thing on Craigslist - that if you're giving it away for free it must be total crap. When I bought new furniture two years ago I wanted to get rid of my old sofabed and was happy to give it to anyone who would just take it away. It was still totally functional and fairly clean - a couple of tears and stains, but not total crap. But in the free listings I had NO takers; once I put it out there for $100ish, I had plenty of responses, and I ended up selling it to some kids from the college down the road who were happy to have it to furnish their first apartment. Freecycle doesn't have that problem because the whole concept is about paying it forward and keeping things out of landfills. Went out for a steak with a chick he's been romancing online. Are you doing the zucchini courgettes in containers for the entire growth cycle? I avoided it this year because I had visions of it taking over a plot of land and I only have containers as an option.
