No, it packs "true to size." The reason the Pulse packs smaller is that its bottom skin is Optimum Reserve fabric, which has a smaller pack volume; the Silhouette's bottom skin is regular F-111, which does not. I think looking at the classifieds now should be one of those things you do for information only - get a sense of what's available and at what prices; however (and I think you recognize this) please hold off on buying something until you're well into your student program (or even after you get your license). Save up now so that you have cash on hand to take advantage of the good deals when you're ready to buy, but know that there are good deals coming up on a regular basis and you'll be best served by waiting a while to get to know your instructors, your riggers, and local dealers, all of whom can help you make a good choice for your first set of gear and who can help you evaluate the available used gear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imo3Nip-slc&playnext=1&list=PL8FCB00CDB2D051EC Pretty sure that's the one you're looking for. Had to try a few different keyword combos to get it on YouTube. I guess the good news is that whatever you paid for it four years ago ... it'll probably cost less than half for an equivalent replacement. Of course, I'm the one with an ancient TV (circa early '90s- I'm not exactly sure of its age since I inherited it from a friend when he upgraded to a new TV). I have the money to buy a new one, just can't be bothered to spend my money on something I don't use all that much. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. It's LP. Sometimes the ice is a more precious commodity than the alcohol! "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke -

Italian cream soda. Fill big glass with seltzer over ice, add a shot of flavored syrup and a shot of 1/2 and 1/2. Can be sugar-free if you use sugar-free syrups. I'm one of those who was somewhere in the wishy washy range when I started dating my current boyfriend almost 6 years ago. At the time I was 34 - I genuinely wasn't sure back then; I'd never felt the calling to have children so strongly that it trumped all other things in my life (including being in a fulfilling relationship). I was always one of those who thought "Well, maybe if the time/situation is right, but maybe not." However, I knew before my boyfriend and I had even expressed mutual interest that he absolutely, 100%, non-negotiable didn't want to have kids - it had come up in conversation early in the phase of getting to know each other as friends. I was happy to have that piece of data as we started dating and continued dating. We started out on a foundation of honesty and that hasn't changed. Had I been someone who really, really, really wanted kids, we just would not have been a good match and would have had to deal with that fact and gone our separate ways. Fortunately, there was room for alignment on that point in our case; in other cases, there's not really any gray area. As time has gone on, I've (obviously) come to value the relationship, as I've been in it happily for nearly 6 years. I've also come to be totally cool with the fact that kids aren't going to be a part of that relationship. I really enjoy the things we're able to do and the freedom we're able to have, and am also cool that kids won't be a part of that. Besides, even if I did want them, now that I'm 40, the prospect of having kids becomes less likely and less desirable to me (though I know that there are a lot of ways that I could become a parent even at my age, the idea of embarking on that journey now isn't appealing to me). If the woman wants to have kids, then it's probably a huge turn-off. If she doesn't, it's probably a turn-on. If it's an important criteria for her to decide if she even wants to embark on a dating relationship with you (however casual it might be at first) she'll ask early so she doesn't feel like she's wasting her time continuing to date you. Flip side is, she might be asking you early because she doesn't want kids herself and wants to see if you're simpatico. Either way, be true to yourself. Lying's just a weak sauce move. No one ever "has to lie" - if you believe that, maybe you shouldn't be dating at all. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. If you find yourself in Reno, go to Brew Brothers and try their double chocolate caramel stout. Unfortunately, I think you can only get it at the pub, but ... yum. Stouts and porters, now this is my kind of thread. None of that damn how much hops can we put in the beer IPA shit. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. I call 'em "homers." The ones that never leave their home DZ, or if they do, go to another DZ with a large group from their home DZ and only jump with those folks, sometimes passing up the chance to jump with great organizers in the process. I think having a DZ to call "home" is one of the nice things about this sport, but being able to get out and about and jump with a huge variety of people at a huge variety of dropzones is what makes this sport incredible. Hope I wake up before I go in. Hope I turned my AAD on. Hope my AAD works. Hope John Mitchell or Jeff Sanders is on my jump. Don't really like 'em during the work day unless I'm sick or really didn't get enough sleep the night before. I tend to want to lie down longer than 20 minutes, so then I come back groggy. But when I was on a combination of flexeril and vicodin last fall, I was grateful for the fact that I could work at home and steal into the bedroom for some lie-down time. And I love a good weekend nap.

I concur. I haven't had that much fun at the movies in a long time. This is true, but often early in your skydiving career you don't know what you don't know and it can be difficult to assess the risks of the sport in general, and the risks that your injury may cause specifically. Your instructors are not trying to hold you back, they're trying to keep you as safe as possible so that you're around and healthy to skydive another day. If you're being advised not to jump yet, there's probably a good reason for that advice. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. How about somewhere more northerly to take advantage of the long days in June? Maybe Norway (don't they have a big skydive/BASE festival sometime around then?). Good hiking/outdoor stuff, I'm sure there's paragliding, and you could certainly jump. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please.
