  1. Yes Perry, But in an aircraft the static vent (where the air pressure goes in) is remotely placed and sometimes multiple, so the altimeter gets an average reading from both (or more).
  2. I didn't mean to suggest otherwise Tom, I meant that $825 IS reasonable if you are receiving quality instruction. Exactly why I chose to go there, rather wait another year to visit the states. (Damn Army ) . Lee _______________________________ In a world full of people, only some want to fly, is that not crazy? http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk
  3. Depends on the quality of the instruction though. I can't quote on theirs (yet), and even then I will have nothing to compare it with (I plan to do a US based one, and the Norway one at some point). I decided to take this FJC based on location, timing, a debrief of a recent student, and talking to the instructor. (Ulli) Price wasn't a factor. (Edited to add) At the moment, all I know is that I don't know enough. 4. 700 euros. Slightly cheaper if you take your own kit. Lee _______________________________ In a world full of people, only some want to fly, is that not crazy? http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk
  5. In about 2 weeks. I also know of one other person who has already taken it. Edited to add: www.baseeuphoria.com The same people. Lee _______________________________ In a world full of people, only some want to fly, is that not crazy? http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk
  6. Suunto has to be the choice here. I know they are bulky, but they are fairly indistructable (so far), I'm pretty harsh on watches and I went through 3 in six months until I bought this one a year ago. The figures are big enough to use on a skydive and accurate enough to use under canopy (IMHO). It does loads of other stuff (compass, HRM, etc) but I only use it as a watch or an alti. 15. I've met Bob a couple of times, I had the pleasure of a two way with him at OFR6 last year in Joshua Tree. (and me an Englishman too ) I think we were the 'oldest/youngest' jumpers there! I saw him again at WFFC this year, he looks old as dirt. I suspect he always did.
  16. Sorry, I missed that. Couldn't see for looking. Lee _______________________________ In a world full of people, only some want to fly, is that not crazy? http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk

  18. Two, just opened. One in Milton Keynes, and one in Bedford. Search the posts here. Lee _______________________________ In a world full of people, only some want to fly, is that not crazy? http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk
  19. I've jumped two different types of Nomad. One with dog slow, tiny Turbines, that crawls to altitude (relatively). And one with bigger, better, more powerful engines that climbs pretty good, for an aircraft of its size. With these engines its comparable to a Grand caravan. I think Chatteris in the UK maye have one of both types, but I couldn't say for certain. 20. Tell me about it. I made a boo boo over exit order on a WS over WFFC, when I didn't realise jump run had switched directions. Luckily I realised before exit.
  21. What if the satelite is really low on the the horizion, it would already be looking at your face. Keep your helmet on from leaving home, to getting back! Lee _______________________________ In a world full of people, only some want to fly, is that not crazy? http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk
