Its not recommened, you could drop it and hurt someone on the ground. It may be ok, if you hold on very tightly to your wood in freefall, or have someone hold it for you. Remember, if you go in, flip over on your back before impact, you'll still die, but it'll be less painful! Gear generally weighs 20 to 25lbs, the bigger the gear (ie student) the heavier. Exit weight is used to calculate wingloading, after all, you carry it all down to the ground... I can qualify that statement. I bought a pound of sugar-free gummi bears in a motorway service station, by the time I got to where I was going, my insides were like a cappacino machine. Worse thing was, I never knew what caused it. So on my return journey I did the same again. It was only when I found out that sugar-free stuff causes this that I realised.
