I just love that article title about how "leftist ideology" is undermining society. Which basically means that progress and change are ruining everything, a typical conservative viewpoint. The reality is that we who have the good fortune of living in one of the western democracies, the most progressive and liberal societies ever, are living the in the most pleasant circumstances on average ever enjoyed in the history in mankind. And somehow you want to believe that being more tolerant of people who are different is going to cause that to come crashing down?

I don't recall ever seeing non-ZP canopy fabric in any of the neon colours. I remember that those colours became popular for a while in the early to mid 90's on ZP canopies. They kind of faded into being less common because they fade very quickly in the Sun. Pink f-111 type fabric is available, but not neon pink AFAIK.

Modern ZP canopies that have had good care taken of them, especially not left in the Sun and not packed outdoors by sweaty packers laying on them generally last for 2000 jumps or so maximum. I have seen several go a few hundred more than that but none that make it to 3000. And yes, if you do not retire them beforehand older canopies will eventually land with the (usually) centre cell split right down most of the chord. Of course the split normally is on the top skin and most often the jumper does not even realize it until after landing.

This is simply the giant lie being told by the right to justify their reluctance to acknowledge the facts of the past. NO ONE and I repeat NO ONE wants white people to feel ashamed of what their ancestors did. The rest of us just want the story told so that the roots of the present day problems are understood. If you or anyone else wants to feel shame let it be for the things that are happening today.

You are already pretty heavily loaded for the number of jumps you have. There is still a lot you can and should learn and experience you should gain before downsizing. Other people will tell you other things, but that is my strongly held opinion for the set of facts that you have stated. I also think that you should get the opinion of an experienced rigger about the condition of your current canopy. It may very well have a lot more life left than you think.

No, they don't want to do what soldiers have always needed to do. You know, kill people and and take a chance on being killed. Not everyone wants to do that. Which is why conscripts often make poor warriors.

Yes, absolutely. If it becomes strictly a numbers game that would not be good. In the end most likely there is still going to be a Ukraine. It's borders will not be what either side wants. Whatever they are it will be firmly aligned with the west and no Russian will be able to say it has not earned the right to be an independent nation. But the price will be high and the memories will be lasting.

I didn't like hearing it either. It was either part of an NPR or a BBC story. I don't skewer or reply to the troll. Our leaders and the media we listen to usually present a positive picture of events in times of war. I'm far more likely to give weight to bad news than to good news.

A radio interview with a soldier on the front line. He stated that the army has now lost many or even most of the well trained and motivated soldiers it had to start with and that many of the replacements are young conscripts who are not well trained and not very well motivated either. I know it's anecdotal, but it rang true.

Which is the point. Ukraine is running out of deployable trained soldiers. Putin's ruthless bloody tactics will work in the end unless something changes.

The younger generation doesn’t have to be screwed at all. The United States is seriously underpopulated and lots of people want to move there. Of course some people might not like the colour of most of them. But solving the demographics problem is easy if you want to.

Yeah, good luck with that. We both know that most skydivers simply do not care unless they are directly affected. Pointing things out here may make a few more people aware and that may help a little. No organization ever voluntarily increases it's own accountability. Although they may decide to hold others accountable.

This is what happens when POTUS feels a political need to look strong because the opposition feels they can score points by accusing him of being weak. Even Trudeau got a chance to puff up and beat on his chest. This episode almost makes the Chinese system look good.

Some people call it a "power trip posistion". Other people would say that they are people who care enough about the sport that they want to do the work required to move the organization forward. Most people don't care enough to even bother voting. USPA could use a good shot of openness on this and some other matters. USPA seems to have over reacted here and appears to be dragging their heels and refusing to admit to making a mistake.
