  1. Your Raven will probably stall and hurt you when you flare it for landing at that wing loading. The ZP topskin will make no difference. You may as well speed it up, just remember, it will stall about when your hands make the transition from pull to push if you don't. Many people have regretted being in this situation. Don't be so cheap, you know what you need to do. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  2. HAHAHAHAHA....nice to see her lighten up for a while. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  3. I switched from predicting its failure, to documenting it, several posts ago. Perhaps I should start a new thread to avoid confusion. Well... the title of your thread is misleading, so if you do start a new thread maybe you could fix that. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 4. Another source that I have used. Quite a bit cheaper. http://www.magnet4less.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_11&products_id=1068 That link is to N52 grade. You probably don't need them quite that strong, but that's what I've used. This is the size UPT uses I believe. But any size you want is available here. 5. Not only that, 401s are just plain cool. I was refurbishing them and selling them on ebay a couple years ago. They are the most advanced domestic machine Singer ever made. They are precise and intricate and a pleasure to work on. I still have about 5 of them waiting for me to get around to shining them up. 6. I won't even click on that link. Don't care Watts there. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  7. The golden rule for tension is this: 1.Always start with the bobbin tension first. 2.The bobbin tension should be as loose as possible, This means you should only fell slight (..and I mean slight tension) when pulling the thread with the bobbin case out of the machine. When you install the bobbin case into the machine, the tension will increase somewhat. The direction of the bobbin being unwound makes a hugh difference also. Make sure it is rotating correctly when pulling the thread. 3.You adjust the top thread to balance the two. 4.If you cannot balance the top thread, add tension to the bobbin. Then and only then. MEL All good advice in general, but with 401 you don't take the bobbin case out of the machine to adjust the tension. Just thread it through and under the spring and adjust the screw in the spring for slight tension. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  8. That's more or less what I see as well. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  9. The crowd here is dominated white middle aged males with a strong bias toward past military service. Like skydiving in general. It does not really represent all of America. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  10. Just out of curiosity, what academic institution offers a masters program in "counseling". Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  11. It's a funny thing. You keep posting these items and gloating about it. And you are correct, the system is unsustainable and it always was. The funny part is going to come when whatever government is in power fixes it. I can hardly wait to hear your howls of protest as the system slowly moves closer to one payer! (One payer being YOU of course) Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  12. So, you have decided Trump is your man because it's safe to ignore his words. They are only meaningless lies. Except the ones that are not, and you're pretty sure you know which are which. 'Cuz you understand New Yorkers. Have I got that right? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  13. Everyone like to get off early on Friday. Hell, the parachute industry in DeLand takes at least a half day off every Friday. Who started that anyway? Was it Booth or Sherman? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  14. I'm having a very hard time believing this. I've seen some sources cited in this thread, but none that support this. Where are you getting this from? The internet, of course, so it has to be true. Thanks, for a minute there I thought it might just be made up. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 16. That would still require higher pay per hour. And still need a mandate of some kind. But it could be part of a solution. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  17. It's never a good idea to call down another business in the name of promoting your own organization. It was a mistake for Mr. Scott to phrase it this way. What he should have said is simply that USPA member DZ pledge themselves to a certain standard. Then let the reporter and the public read between the lines. There was no reason to say what he was quoted as saying. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  18. A good example of a historical accident that is politically nearly impossible to change now. Not only is it an unfair subsidy to home owners, it artificially increases the price of homes making it harder to buy one. Ironic since the original idea was to help make them more affordable. Any economist will tell you it is a bad policy. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  19. There is a problem with income distribution. It's not the first time in history for this. I see it largely as a side effect of globalization. That kicks the feet out from under the working class while making things cheaper for all, but mostly benefiting the more educated highly skilled classes. There is still a need for workers, but the demand is lower which causes their wages to fall. If you don't like what your Walmart clerk job pays, too bad for you. You don't have a union, and there are plenty more where you came from. It's only going to get worse as technology displaces more and more people. I'm a truck driver. That occupation is going to start shrinking soon. I'm old enough that I'll be OK, but younger drivers will end up competing for the remaining, more complicated jobs that computer driven trucks can't do. Right now there is a driver shortage. Which means that uneducated people like me can still make a decent living at it. But not much longer. There will still be work when the Interstates become automated. but far less of it and at lower wages. I don't want to be a Luddite. I'm not suggesting we turn back the clock on this, but something must be done. Some form of a higher minimum wage may be the answer. But that is an artificial market manipulation that is bound to have unintended consequences. Like attracting hoards of immigrants, some without permission. 20. As long as the public keeps insisting on accountability police performance will improve and more of the bad actors will be weeded out. Not everyone who holds a badge is suitable to do so. But it is going to get harder and hard for them to hide. And the ones who get through will have shorter careers. Sure, it's a tough job. But that is no excuse for covering up misdeeds of fellow officers. And that is a large part of the root of the problem. The "us against them" attitude that pervades this kind of service and always has. Without the video from this latest incident it would have been swept under the rug like it always has been. Now we have the ability to see that not all police shootings are justified. The same accountability is going to prove that most are. As long as America is armed to the teeth the rate of police shootings is not going to go down much, if at all. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 21. I was on the road that day and listening to NPR. They were rather annoyed at Trump playing them for free hotel publicity as well. No one likes being taken for a fool. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  22. This is what I do not completely understand. America has never been stronger or richer than it is right now. The only thing I can see about the direction of the country that these people object to is the demographic change to white people no longer being the absolute majority. They better start breeding if they want to change that fact. Electing Trump, or any other POTUS will make no difference at all. Just what do you mean by disliking the direction the country is going? Seriously, what does that mean if not becoming less white? And more to the point, just what direction Trump is in favor of would these disaffected people like to move in? I have not heard one good plan come out of his campaign. Not one. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  23. I would say that anyone paying attention to what is going on should be against Trump by now. People in the media are very close to the action, it's their job. How could anyone watch this guy day after day and pretend that it would be alright if he wins? Even large parts of the leadership of his own party have warned America he is unacceptable. There is no need at all to slam Trump, all you need to do is listen to what he says and watch what he does. Soon your National Nightmare will be over. The whole world will breath easier when this cartoon charade is done. Except of course in Russia, home of Trump's biggest supporters. 24. In the part of Canada where I live the bottom rung is occupied by a different ethnic group than where you are. First Nation Canadians have long suffered from abusive treatment at the hands of police, and they are over represented in the correctional system. But we no longer tolerate the same level of abuse by the police. Mostly because they have learned to stand up and have leaders that are fighting against it. They don't say "Black lives matter", they say "Idle no more". As in they will no long sit back idly and take it. Either way, it is the same thing. And like in your country most people support the concept. But there is a also a minority with the same kind of attitude you embrace. Luckily you are merely a small mostly irrelevant fringe group. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  25. Ah, you don't know that. And neither do I. But there are reasons to believe that black men attract more negative attention from police, and white society in general than their white peers. The police, and their attitudes are merely a reflection of the culture they are from. Tulsa is known to be a place with a poor relationship between the black community and the police force. Things may be much better where you work. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
